___________________________________________________________________________
"Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth"
ADULTHOOD (Early Stage): IT IS THE AGE WHEN A CHILD GROWS UP FULLY. HE BECOMES MATURE AND SENSIBLE , HE CAN SEE THE THINGS FOR WHAT THEY ARE. HE BECOMES RESPONSIBLE. THE IMMATURITY IS REPLACED WITH SERIOUSNESS AND AMBITION TO ACHIEVE NAME AND FAME.
BEING ADULT IS NOT ONLY ACHIEVING THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN BUT WITH IT COMES RESPONSIBILITY AND MANY OTHER DUTIES. IT IS A VERY CRUCIAL STAGE IN ONE'S LIFE, ONE WRONG DECISION AND EVERYTHING IS RUINED.
Amidst the chilly winds of late December, a girl in her early twenties sat in her balcony. The cold wind whipped harshly against her skin but one would hardly know if it had any effect on her or not as she sat there, still as a statue.
It was clear because of her stance that she was deep in thoughts, so deep that she didn't even hear her teen sister talking to her. It was not until that the teen shook her that she noticed her sister's presence.
"So, what do you think?"
"Umm..."
The teen looks blankly at her sister and then said "You didn't hear a single word I said, did you?"
Instead of replying the elder girl just shrugged and went back to her dreamland. Her sister stared at her for full ten seconds before turned to leave muttering incoherent words. The frustrated teen on her way banged the door which brought the young female out of her thoughts and in the harsh realities of life.
Now a days the young girl was so lost that it was rather a hard task to get her toanswer even a simple question. On would think what could be the reason behind it? Well the answer to that question is very simple yet very complicated.
'Marriage' well arranged marriage to be precise. But it was not the thought of marriage that disturbed the young girl and it was also not the fact it was arranged marriage. She didn't have any problems with arrange marriage, her Parents marriage was also arranged and it was common in her family. Most if not all of her family members had arranged marriage. And if you are thinking that she had a boyfriend who she wanted to be married to instead of a stranger; then again you are wrong as she had never been in a relationship, not even once in her whole Twenty three years of life.
The very reason for her gloomy behavior was the fact that her father didn't even let her share her views on the aspect, he didn't even ask her what she wanted. Well he did ask, but it was in such a twisted way that you'll have no choice but to submit to his wishes.
The girl was sullen because she wanted to stand on her own two feet without her father or her supposedly husband to support. She wanted to support herself well before she was asked to be responsible for a whole family, a very different family than her own.
How can her father ask her to be responsible for a whole family when she had never faced the real world before? He had always shielded his daughter from the cruel world, now all of a sudden he expects her to stand by herself amongst it. It was like asking a rookie to fight in a war of professionals or more like taking away the crutches of a disabled.
Due to his over protectiveness he has made his daughter disabled while he himself was her crutch that always supported her. But now she doesn't want to be disabled anymore. She wants to stand on her own without any support. She doesn't want to be known because of her father but she wished for her father to be known because of her.
It was because of this very reason the concept of marriage didn't fit well with her. When she asked her father if she could do a job she was so shocked by his reply. He flat out refused. If her own father couldn't support her decision would not let her do a job what were the possibilities that her future in-laws would allow it. And besides doing something after marriage will be rewarding to her in-laws rather than her father, for whom she had decided on it.
She didn't understand reason behind her father's refusal , why would he say something like that when it was always him who wanted his kids to excels in whatever they did no matter what it was.
It was this very reason both her and her sister were toppers not only in academics but sports and other fields too. She herself was university topper, and was even awarded as Best student.
Why would her father want all her efforts to go in drain? That's what she asked him and he got so angry, his expression screamed his inner thoughts 'how dare you talk back to me, is this what we taught you to behave in such a manner' . Even though he did not utter a single word his expression said it all and she felt so weak in front of him.
Never had she felt so helpless and hopeless. How her perfect life took such an unexpected turn she did not know? And now she didn't even want to know because she knew sometimes answers were not worth the hurt they come with.
A lone tear escaped her eyes and she vigorously shook her head to stop the tears along with the thoughts that were haunting her.
After her father refused her, her mother and sister tried to console her but there was nothing left to console as her little heart had shattered into so many pieces that it would take forever to be back to her usual self.
But the question was, did she want to go back to her usual self? The one who was a pampered princess. She had always been Daddy's girl , his princess while her little sister was her Daddy's warrior.
If one would think about it even though the father loved both his daughters with whole of his heart he was biased. He would treat his elder daughter like a delicate flower while the younger child was what he called her, a warrior.
The younger sister had really taken to the fact of being a warrior as she was anything but a delicate young girl. She was a fun loving girl who loved to spend time playing extreme sports rather than shopping or any such girly activity. Her group of friends too shared the same view and love for extreme sports. Even the younger sister too stood beside her sister on her decision, she went as far as talking back to her father telling him flat out that if he was thinking of ruling her life too then he better think again as there was no way in hell she'll be like those spoiled brats who went to their daddy whenever they need something.
She fully supported her sister on her decision and it was because of the same reason the father and his warrior child hadn't even uttered a single word to each other.
All the young girl(older girl) could think was that she was causing a rift in her family. She was a adult now not some naïve child, she must act responsible and take care of all this mess that she created.
The young girl then and there decided that if she needs to survive without her father, she needs to stand for herself and taking responsibility of her actions would be the first step down the road of being an adult and responsible.
