Han Qifeng pressed down on the throttle and glanced at her with a side profile, his demeanour extremely gentle, âEnen, are you worried about Jingchen, or are you worried about Mr. Li?â
Chi Enen didnât expect him to ask such a question, she paused, then answered him frankly, âBoth.â
She was telling the truth, if only one of them, big or small, was at home, she would feel a bit more at ease.
Now that both of them, big and small, were at home, she really felt anxious.
Han Qifengâs fingers gripping the steering wheel tightened. As a chief surgeon, his fingers were pale and beautiful, now slightly whitened from the pressure, accentuating their length. After a moment of silence, he suddenly said, â1 thought you wouldnât answer my question⦠at least not directly.â
âWhy?â Chi Enen was clueless.
Han Qifeng pulled the car over to the roadside, pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses and looked at her with a tender smile, âHavenât you noticed Iâve been pursuing you?â
Han Qifeng was pursuing⦠pursuing her?!
Chi Enen really hadnât quite noticed!
She knew Han Qifeng took some interest in her, but it was on the account of her daughter, Bae Chiâs scheming encouragement, and was just a fleeting trace.
To say that Han Qifeng was pursuing her, really didnât seem right⦠they had only met a few times after all.
Seeing what was on her mind, Han Qifeng touched his forehead, seemingly with a wry smile, âLook at me, no longer a young lad, and yet 1 blurt out something like this out of the blue. No wonder you are so shocked you canât react.â
He paused, then looking directly into Chi Enenâs eyes, he continued, âEnen, maybe itâs because Iâm not very expressive, which led you to miss that Iâve been pursuing you. Actually, ever since we spent half a day at the Amusement Park, 1 have been chasing you. It might be my failure to express myself that made you think 1 only saw you as a fellow parent of a classmate.â
âLet me introduce myself and my situation. Iâm 35 years old this year. 178 cm tall, weighing 14.0 lbs. 1 work at the Mingxi Hospital Neurology Department and graduated with a masterâs degree from Zong University. The family is quite simple; itâs just me and my daughter, Han Xiaoru. 1 donât have many bad hobbies, my biggest hobby is playing basketball, and on the weekends, I like to go fishing with colleagues. If you like a quiet and peaceful leisure activity, we could do that together in the future. My colleagues are very easy-going peopleâ¦â
Chi Enen opened her mouth, then solemnly interrupted him, âIâm sorry, Mr. Han, 1 have a boyfriend.â
Han Qifeng paused, then looked at her, âIs it that Mr. Li from your home?â
He spoke gently, yet incisively pinpointed the crux, âJingchen doesnât seem to like him very much.â
Based on Bae Chiâs behavior today, it wasnât just a matter of dislike; it was downright rejection! Otherwise, she wouldnât have caused so much trouble.
She felt a tremendous headache but still decided to clarify things to Han Qifeng, â1 havenât told him yet, that itâs his father. After 1 talk to him about it, 1 think he will gradually accept it.â
So, Mr. Li was indeed Chi Jingchenâs father!
Although Han Qifeng vaguely had this notion when he noticed the resemblance between the two, he had never really harbored any doubts. Not until Chi Enen revealed the truth to him! His eyebrows knitted together for a moment, and he exhaled, leaning back in the seat, seemingly relaxed all of a sudden, he turned his head towards Chi Enen and said, âSo thatâs itâ¦.â
