They both looked at me even more concerned.
"Your uniform? And where is it now?"
König asked yet oblivious to my idiocy while Ghost pressed with his fingers where his temple would have been.
"I um... I left it with the Major."
"Of course you did."
Ghost shook his head, he sounded disappointed, like a tired dad.
"I will just go grab the spare keys from the main desk."
König looked between the two of us before speaking.
"When did you stop addressing the Lieutenant formally?"
I must have been too tired to even notice. Ghost took a step forward me.
"Y/N is off duty, she doesn't need to address me formally."
König stretched out his hand, blocking the other man from getting too close to me while he himself stepped closer. They eyed each other for a minute, before I decided that I am too tired too deal with this.
"I am going now. Have fun you two."
I started to walk away when König grabbed me by my hand and looked at me with puppy eyes.
"There is no one at the main desk, no point in going there. I will let you sleep in my quarters, Shatz."
God, damn his cuteness!
"Would that be okay? I don't want to invade."
"No. It wouldn't."
Ghosts voice was like an order, does he has to have a say in everything?!
"If you slept in the Colonels room, where would he sleep? There is a few spare rooms in the Private's building, you can use one of them."
Is he hearing himself? The 'spare' rooms are the ones we don't use for a reason! There is no heating in that section and the whole building was supposed to be under renovation months ago. I would have a better chances surviving a bear attack then sleeping there and not catching some deadly disease.
"Thank you. Lieutenant. But I think I will take up Colonels offer."
I was lifted off the ground so fast that not even König had the time to react. My stomach hurt as Ghost grabbed me by my sides and threw me over his shoulder.
"What is wrong with you?!"
"You need to act more professional."
"I am acting professional! Can't say that about you!"
"Shut up."
I whined in pain as he squeezed me more.
"You are hurting her. Ghost."
Königs voice was like a lightning bolt in a clear sky.
"She will be fine."
"No I am not! Let go!"
I could feel the temperature change making goosebumps appear on my skin. I raised my leg and tried to kick him.
"You think you have the right to push me around because you kissed me once?!
I watched as both König and Ghost stopped. Königs eyes looked weird. Why was he looking so sad?
"We did more then just kiss, Y/N. Unless you already forgot."
I want to disappear. Why does this have to happen with König here.
"He touched you?"
He sounded angry, he probably thought that me and Ghost were really close. None of us replied, Ghost continued walking away, leaving König with his thoughts.
We soon entered the old building and I was left here by Ghost.
The freezing temperature made me shiver, the whole sector was dusty. I don't think anyone was taking care of it for the past months. Just great isn't it? Ghost just had to have such a brilliant idea.
Normally I would just leave, but if I truly get sick I want him to regret his decision.
----
My body grabbed onto the warmth that was held by the blankets. Freezing was an understatement. I cursed at Ghost and his stupid ideas. I should have taken König on his offer.
I imagined how his big arms would wrap around my body. Would he feel warm? Would he cuddle?
I wanted to shake the images away as I grew embarrassed at my own thoughts. I didn't. My head felt heavy and I had no strength to move. But I had to get up either way.
I moved the blankets away, exposing myself to the humid air. My body kept on shivering as I changed my clothes, it didn't stop even when I left the building.
No way that I am actually sick, right?
Doesn't matter, it's not like I can skip training.
I left the building, some of the soldiers gave me weirdly worried looks. Pity. They looked at me with pity.
Did I look that bad?
I met up with Sarah right before our morning run.
"Shade? Hey you okay?"
"Huh?"
I watched as she bent down to take a closer look at me.
"You look pale. Did something happen?"
I noticed Ghost in the corner of my eye, he was the only one overseeing us today.
Before I could reply I felt something soft and warm press against my forehead.
"Oh my god! Y/N! You are burning up!"
She held my face in her hands making me focus on her.
"You need to go to the infirmary. You are like a walking heater."
"I am fine Sarah. Really. It's just a cold. Not the worst thing I have been through."
I placed my hands over hers and she looked at me upset ready to argue with me about my condition.
"I will take you there-"
"Alright. Everyone, position! Today you are doing the 4mile route. Begin!"
Sarah took a double look at me and then at Ghost, but decided not to do anything. Is he doing this on purpose? I have a feeling that he is.
The whole run I could feel Sarah's eyes on me. Checking if I was okay every few minutes. I reassured her. I knew that I didn't feel fine, but it wasn't the first time I was sick and probably not the last.
More people seemed to look my way and whisper with each mile. It felt like forever, the further we were the more I believed we were stuck in some loop.
I focused on moving my legs while I looked at the ground. Everyone stopped. Finally.
I really don't feel well.
Sarah was right I should have went straight to the hospital wing.
We all stood in a line. At this point Sarah was helping me stand, she held me with one of her arms, letting me lean on her slightly.
Ghost definitely noticed. I hope he won't punish her. I thought my immune systemy was better then this.
"Shade. Step forward."
Sarah was glaring daggers at him, I could feel it without looking.
"Sir, she is in no condition to go on. Please let me take her to the infirmary."
"Both of you run two additional miles. Go."
I raised my head and looked at Ghost. He was cold as always. He looked different yesterday, I wonder if he is acting like this because of what happened.
I tried to take a step forward and speak, my body didn't listen. I watched as Riley's eyes grew bigger, he started to reach towards me.
For some reason I called him Riley, the name he told me on our mission.
Riley. That name suit him. I like it.
I could still feel Sarah's warm embrace as it engulfed me.
---------
I was running. The branches were hitting my face, ripping my skin. The adrenaline kept me going, not letting me stop even for a second.
"You won't get far like that!"
I tripped over a tree root.
I looked back.
I couldn't make out the face. But that voice. I can tell who it is by the voice alone.
Sebastian.
"Maybe he was right. You truly have a mental block."
The man laughed in a sickening way.
No.
Tears pressed on my eyes.
No. NoNoNoNoNo
I tried to crawl away through the dirt and leafs. He grabbed my ankles and dragged me back under him.
NO!
"What's wrong my little sister?"
I was turned onto my back harshly.
"Didn't you want to be just like me?"
Dead.
No.
I don't want to die.
Please!
No matter how much I tried to scream and call for help my voice never came out.
Pleasepleaseplease!
Let me go!
He grabbed me by my neck, his once warm hands made me shiver.
My brother would never hurt me.
He tightened his grip, not letting me breath.
I don't want to die.
I trashed around clawing at his arms with my nails.
I wanna live.
I screamed with the only air I had left in my lungs.
Silence.
I looked around. Everyone were looking at me. I was laying down on the hospital bed.
Fuck.
I just had to have that happen.
I lied back down soon enough one of the nurses came up to me. All the other doctors and patients went back to doing whatever they were doing before.
"Hi, are you feeling any better now?"
"How long have I been asleep?"
I really didn't want to be mean but I am in no mood to act all nice.
"It's been a few days now. One of your wounds has gotten infected, the stitches have opened and you were bleeding heavily. You were lucky to be brought in so quickly."
She worked with my IV and checked my temperature.
"How long will I have to stay?"
She had a bright smile as she faced me again.
"Not long, the doctor will approve of your leave and then you can go. You will have to rest for another week but you can do so in your quarters."
Thank god. I hate hospitals. The people here are nice but the place reeks of nothing else then death.
I shivered as I reminded myself of the nightmares.
"Thank you."
"Your friends should be here soon as well."
"Friends? Was there more then one person here?"
"Actually there was quite a few, you seem to be popular. Do you have any other questions?"
"No, thank you."
"Then wait for the doctor, you will be out and about in no time."
I was left alone with my thoughts. The nightmare no longer vivid in my head.
