We made our way back to the living quarters, upon entering the main room we were greeted by Soap and Price who were sitting at the table. I immediately noticed 3 glasses stationed on it, meaning that Ghost either just left or was coming soon. And even though I said I wasn't going to be so rough on them, I don't think I can face Ghost again and not get mad. So I turned towards Gaz and tried my best to get out of there quickly.
"I will be in my room then-"
"Why not join us?"
Price stopped me when I was already halfway to the door. I looked at Soap but he didn't seem to mind my presence, he smiled at me making it look like an invitation. Gaz was already moving one of the chairs, sitting down with the both of them. My brain told me to leave, the emotions still raging in the back of my head even after the intense work out.
"You seem to be doing great on your own, I wouldn't want to disrupt that."
"You are not disrupting us at all, come on. Sit down."
"Thanks but it's late I-"
I turned around as the door opened and there he stood in all his damned glory. Ghost.
"She can't hold her liquor, better if she goes now."
Oh you damned brat. I changed my mind, I will stay, just to piss him off.
"She was doing just fine last time?"
Soap reminded me of the night that caused Thera to go after me, I crossed my arms and stood my ground. I will give them a chance. But a chance is all they are gonna get.
"Maybe if you weren't such a stuck up, you would know that."
"Maybe if you listened to your superiors and weren't so pesky I wouldn't have to be so strict."
"I thought you two got along with each other?"
Fuck, I was still mad.
"I stopped getting along with all of you as soon as you used me like a piece of meet."
I snapped at Price. He didn't seem to mind, just started pouring himself another glass of Burbon. I looked back at Ghost, finally wanting to get it all out.
"And for your knowledge, I AM your superior, and perhaps you should address me as such."
Everyone in the room stopped, except Price, he continued drinking the alcohol, not letting our banter affect his moment of tranquil. The whole 141 group looked at him for answers. I felt like I have been seeing them surprised more often.
"Captain?"
Ghost asked him instead of me, which only infuriated me more. The older man placed his glass back on the table with a click.
"Ghost. Viper. Why don't you two sit down?"
Ignoring the man beside me, I joined the three at the table. Not long after I did, Simon was already sitting down beside me.
"So?"
Price looked at me with a smile.
"Viper, why don't you introduce yourself?"
I raised my eyebrow, and let confusion seep through my expression. What is this elementary school? It looked like I wasn't the only one confused by his suggestion, either way they all seemed interested on what I would say or do. Even Ghost.
His eyes studied me like some kind of wild animal, darting from one spot to another. Trying to catch what kind of lie or nonsens I would spout out of my mouth. I didn't let it bother me, instead I leaned back in my chair eyeing the alcohol that sat in the middle of the table.
"Lieutenant Colonel Y/n L/n, code name Viper, previously Gloom or in later years of my career Shade."
Damn, I had to admit, watching their eyes widen in surprise gave me a feeling of superiority. The fact I didn't need to hold back with my rank anymore made me happy, excited even, letting my anger subside slightly.
"Lieutenant... Colonel? Since when?"
Soap couldn't help himself but ask, Ghost looked like he took out the words out of his mouth.
"A few years. It's nothing new."
I looked at the man beside me, the eyes under his balaclava burned into my side. I wonder what is he thinking, all this time he has been pushing me around and now he realizes I have been higher up the ladder then him. God, this feels so good. Maybe even better then when he knelt for me in the...
I quickly looked away. What the fuck am I thinking?
"It is nice to have you on our team Y/n."
As if. Price was the one who allowed me to play the game that Persha designed. I wonder what he was planing to do if I died on that mission, would it simply mean that I was not worthy enough to join them?
He fished out two more glasses from a cabinet and set them on the table, one for me the other for Gaz.
"Since when are we allowed to drink on the job?"
He chuckled before grabbing the alcohol and pouring some for us.
"As far as I know, work finished two hours ago, besides... we should celebrate since we managed to get one of the best snipers on our team."
That's when it hit me. You want me to watch your back. Fine. But who will be watching mine?
"The Captain is right one this one. You are quite famous around the teams."
I looked at Soap confused, what does he mean? I thought my existence was supposed be a secret?
"Except everyone thinks you are a guy."
"The change of the name can be useful for keeping your identity low."
Gaz and Ghost agreed with each other.
I took the drink and swallowed a good portion of it, the burning sensation overwhelming my throat, letting me forget about everything that took root in my head if only for a moment.
"How was your visit at KorTac?"
This time I froze, unsure what his intentions were.
"Bountiful."
I took another sip of the drink, already feeling as it made my cheeks flush with warmth. It was stronger then I thought and I was there on an empty stomach. Not good.
I heard Ghost rumble beside, most likely because of the mention that could be linked to König.
"How did you even manage to slip by Specgru and get there?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
"I am just that good."
I took a moment to think before continuing.
"And, I guess I did get caught... just not by Specgru."
I swirled the orange liquid, letting it glimmer in the dim light.
"Slipped out like a rat, only to get caught like one."
Ghost chuckled and I bit my lip. Why is it always the rat?
---
We all talked for a long time, Gaz and Soap left leaving me, Ghost and Price alone at the table. I finished another glass, after that amount of alcohol I had became much more open. My cheeks were a light pink color and I was laughing softly at something that only I seemed to understand.
"I think she had enough... I will take her to bed."
"Alright, I leave it to you. Have a good night you two."
Ghost accompanied Price to the door as he left, I was once again alone with the broken man. He slowly made his way back to me, I quickly stretched out my hands not letting him come too close.
"If you plan on picking me up like a bag of potatoes then I don't want you near me."
Although I drunk a lot I could still pass as someone who was only tipsy. The pink color of my cheeks the only thing that could give away my drunken state.
"Fine, get up then. Let's see how you get to your room."
"You are always so rude to me, that's exactly why König got me in the end."
My drunk mouth blubbered out without even thinking, I started getting up from the chair but got pushed back onto it. Ghost was towering over me, his hands on the sides of me, resting against the table. Trapping me.
"Gotta have to rub it in more?"
"I will keep rubbing it in until you learn from your mistakes."
He glared at me through his mask.
"You aren't worth the trouble."
"Ooh please, you wanna fuck me again so bad."
I laughed softly, my hands grabbed onto his collar, bringing his face closer to mine. I watched as his eyes widened and pupils dilated.
"Y/n-"
"Shhh... Simon, we both know it's true..."
His eyes sparkled at my words. I could tell he was hoping for more. Hoping that I would give myself up to him again...
Now that I thought about it...
He was the only of the two that actually told me he loved me...
"Too bad it's too late for that."
I let go of his collar, but he didn't move back. He wrapped his hands around my waist and my eyes focused on his. The brown irises and blond lashes looked like they were made to be adored, something that was made with beauty in mind.
I wanted to kiss him in that very moment, it felt perfect, like all the sadness and grief disappeared and was replaced with this... fulfillment.
However... It didn't last long. His hands tightened and he threw me over his shoulder.
"SIMON!"
The anger bubbled unto the surface as he carried me back to my room. He threw me onto the bed and left, closing the door behind him. I grabbed the pillow and threw it in his direction, only to watch it hit the door then fall to the ground.
