Her smile fell her expression turned into one I could only describe as disturbed and bothered, I also heard Price sigh at my statement as well.

"Y/n, KorTac is-"

"KorTac will take me. It's the safest place for me."

"They don't trust me and I don't trust them."

"Oh really? Because they were the ones to get me back, not the task force. Also, weren't you the one who sent them?"

I feel like I am arguing with my mother.

"I didn't have a choice!"

"You had many! And I know they made a proposal to you. I am not even going to ask why everything seems to flow through you and not the person you are trying to sell."

"I am not selling you!"

Persha got up so fast that her chair fell back, the rising anger evident in her voice.

"Maybe we should leave?"

I heard Soap whisper to Ghost. I turned in their direction.

"You. Should keep quiet. You knew, about everything and pretended like I wasn't going to my grave!"

"What makes you think they knew about it?"

Price was serious yet amused at the spectacle before him. I am not going to be embarrassed by this, they lied to me.

"Maybe the fact that you are all here? Like rats waiting for the poison to kick in."

"Shade, that's enough. We will talk more tomorrow. I will give you another week, think about this."

"I already made my choice."

They all stayed quiet neither did I say anything more. I just left the tent. I couldn't believe that I was thrown away once again.

Was I wrong all this time?

"Y/n stop."

Ghost's voice rang behind me, he wasn't yelling, he sounded worried. Sadly I didn't care about his worry now.

"Y/n. Stop."

Why is he following me? Just leave me alone!

I picked up my pace but he was already next to me. He grabbed me by my arm, making me face him.

"Do you really think we knew anything about this?!"

"Oh please! Why else would you care? You feel guilty! It's so easy to tell!"

His eyes looked angry. He was angry. Did I say something wrong?

"I wanted to get you."

His voice went lower then before, as he spoke slowly.

"I had no clue. None of us did. How could we have know what would happen?"

I felt a squeeze in my chest, I knew he might have been right. I still felt wronged, but I knew I shouldn't have taken it out on them.

"We waited for a few days but you wouldn't come back."

Why is he telling me this? Does he want to feel better?

"We all were worried you got yourself in some deep shit. So suck it up

"Was it a lie?"

"What?"

"Were your feelings a lie!"

"I fucking begged to go get you!"

"But it was König who did!"

I spat out with venom on my tongue. His eyes softened for a brief moment only to turn cold in the next one. He let go of my arm and stepped back. He didn't say anything after that and only a second after it all happened I understood what I just said.

"I... Simon I..."

He didn't move, he simply looked at me with a cold gaze.

"It's him. It's always going to be him isn't it?"

It was like whatever hope he had on gaining me back has been lost.

"Training starts in an hour. Don't be late."

.

After that, I had not seen Ghost even once.

This was our last farewell.

And I broke his heart.

---

As we all were getting ready to rest I joked around with Sarah. She was talking about another crush she had made on one of the soldiers of this district, wailing on how their delusional love could never be. I rolled my eyes at her childlish behavior as my own heart cluched onto the feeling. I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her.

"Shade? What's wrong? You are acting really weird..."

She was worried. Of course she was and I couldn't even tell her anything about my plans.

"I just really missed you..."

"Shade..."

She hugged me back. Sarah was my only friend. I could at least tell her that I am leaving, right?

"Did Ghost do something to you again?"

I felt tears slowly filling my eyes, but I kept it in. She began running her hand through my hair, trying to comfort me.

"I will fill his pillow with pine cones. No! I will his entire bed with pine cones."

This made me chuckle even if just a little, Sarah was always nice to me. She always thought about me and lately I haven't been seeing her enough. How can I leave her? I know I have to, yet it still hurts.

"Sarah I need to tell you something and it's not easy for me..."

"You are leaving."

I looked at her face, she looked happy but sounded... relieved?

"How did you...?"

"You told us before that you will be joining KorTac, remember?"

Oh right. I did do that.

"You like König, don't you?"

She whispered with a huge grin on her face. How could I not expect for Sarah to notice.

"He is a great soldier. I think working along side him would be an honor of sorts."

A laugh erupted from her throat as she covered her mouth with her hand.

"What is so funny?"

"Oh Shade... I won't tell you. You know best what you feel towards him, I just hope that you won't forget about me."

We parted our embrace, now both of us smiling.

"I won't. We will meet again. There is no other way."

I would never think other wise.

---

I cleaned my bed and made my way out of the tent. The night was dark, the moon was hidden away, only it's glow remained among the clouds, the stars covered by them completely. A perfect night for a runaway.

The best part is that no one will expect this.

I have never caused these kinds of problems, it honestly made me excited. Finally choosing something by myself. I actually felt... free, for once.

I avoided the soldiers on patrol, I knew exactly where they are stationed and how their routes follow so it wasn't exceptionally hard. What was hard was getting to the cargo transport. To get into one of the cars I needed to be extremely careful, there was much less people there after dark but it made me that much easier to spot.

I left the forest area and entered the Evac exit area, as I looked at the empty lot I was once again reminded of my goodbye to König. I could feel my heart beat pick up at the thought of him, the butterflies in my stomach no longer spreading their wings instead it was like they

I shook those feelings away for now, I had to focus. I wasn't letting myself get caught now, I had to see him, I had to get to him. I hid behind some barrels with oil, not really sure why there were even here in the first place.

I peaked from behind them to check the current transport. There was 5 cars in total, I know for a fact that 2 of them are headed towards headquarters. The other three will most likely part from them half way, so I have a two out of five chance to get it right.

I hope luck will be on my side this time.

I hid when a soldier started getting closer to me, I kept an eye on the ones around the vehicles. There was an opportunity so I grabbed it, as soon as the soldier passed me I started making my way to the cars.

I managed to slip behind them and slid under one of the vans. Two soldiers were packing up the cargo, I could hear them speaking.

"Is that the last batch?"

"Looks like it. We can close the backs and get ready."

Oh no. What do I do now?

"Looks like it? Double check it! We don't want to make another trip back and forth do we?"

"Fine, you're right. Last time was enough."

I breathed out in relief, I waited as they checked at least the first two cars to then hop into the back of one of them. I squezeed myself between the boxes and placed the tilt back on.

Did I got into the wrong car? I hope not. Walking back to the base... I don't think I would have anything to walk back to.

---

I was getting nervous as hours passed. I was planning to get some sleep but the anxiety wouldn't allow me, I kept on thinking. Would I be able to see König? Did they notice I was gone? What was Sarah going to think of this?

How would Ghost feel?

Fuck. My mind kept going back to him everytime, both König and Simon have taken a root in my brain and heart. I felt terrible but I knew I couldn't trust Ghost anymore.

I tried to stretch my legs because my muscles started feeling tense.

Was I making a mistake?

Perhaps.

Was I acting on my emotions?

Hell yes.

Would I come to regret this?

Deffinetly.

But it was worth it. As long as I see König, it would all be worth it.

And I wasn't letting others get in my way.
