He definitely did. I was fucked. He paired me up with the strongest guy in the unit, Micheal Thera. The guy who hated my guts the most. Uugh. I won 3 rounds but also lost 3, my head was starting to hurt from how violent he was with me.
"Come on Y/N! You always have so much to say! Suddenly all bark no bite?"
He was getting on my nerves, but I needed to be careful so I can take him down flawlessly.
Some pairs already finished their sparing, now their attention was brought to the ones left. The superiors watching our every move.
"You talk too much." My voice went an octave lower, even I got surprised. He charged at me trying to grab me by my waist. I quickly squatted down, prepping myself on my hands and kicking his legs with mine. He fell down with a thud, my legs wrapped around his flipping him on his stomach. He tried to lift himself up before kicking me, I laid on his back with my whole weight as my legs held his kicks at bay. I began bending his leg, making it slowly turn in an unnatural position. He screamed in pain as I was nearly breaking it.
"Enough!"
The loud yell turned my attention, making me let go of the man under me. He swiftly pushed me off of him as I kept on looking towards the direction of the yell.
The skull mask. Ghost. After their introductions I remembered where I heard about him. It was him that everyone talked about on my special force training. They always laughed I had the potential to become the next "Ghost", I wondered if it would ever happen.
He didn't seem too happy that I had beaten the guy, or maybe I went too far? Not like I could tell anyway, his face was covered and his body language wasn't exactly easy to read. We both got up and walked towards the crowd, the LT reached out his hand in order to stop me.
"What was this all about?" His voice send shivers down my spine. He was the one who paired us up, why was he upset at me. I won.
"I am sorry, Sir."
No, I am not. However I do not plan to get in trouble now.
"10 rounds around the grounds after the training is done. For every next fuck up add 2 laps each."
How was that fair?! Just because I hurt the guy a little? But when he was hurting me it was fine?! I wanted to scream.
"Yes, Sir!"
He finally put his hand away and looked away from me.
"Dismissed."
I walked to the crowd, noticing Sarah has finally finished her spar as well. I walked over to her, my previous partner snorting as he saw me getting in trouble.
"Not so tough after all? Huh, Y/N?"
I wanted to scratch out his eyes with my nails, the thought of his agonizing screams making me smirk. I murmured to myself.
"Debil, if not for Ghost ryczaÅ byÅ ze zÅamanÄ nogÄ ." - (Moron, if not for Ghost you would be crying with a broken leg.)
"They never learn. Even after you kicked his ass, he thinks he is a hot shit."
She looked at the guys a little disgusted, I understood. Most guys in our unit were scums, I couldn't understand why they were even in the army.
"No point in bothering, there never was. Hey at least we have each other."
I nudged her with my elbow and smiled. I noticed everyone had finished their training, we all stood in a line, the task force standing in front of us.
"Tomorrow we will continue the special forces check, you will all fight against us, so I strongly advise to prepare yourselves." It was sergeant Soap speaking. I could tell that everyone turned stiff, I don't think anyone wanted to fight against the task force, I guess they must be looking for people with potential.
"You are dismissed."
He had a thick accent but it was somehow understandable, his voice sounded nice, strict but friendly in some way.
"Yes, Sir!"
Never thought our unit could be this coordinated but we all spoke in union. No one wanted to stick out, sadly I already seemed to do so. I was ready to walk off when I remembered the unfair punishment, instead I stood behind and watched as Sarah left with the rest, she held her thumbs up in hope to lift my spirit. But there was no spirit to be lifted.
"I see you haven't forgotten what I told you to do? Go on, run."
His voice got more raspy with his last words and I wasted no time to answer and get it over with.
"Yes Sir!"
I started running in a steady pace, trying to preserve my energy for the whole 10 laps. Ghost leaned against the wall watching me, probably counting up mistakes to add the laps. His eyes burned holes into my skin and sent shivers down my spine, it made me feels sickly sweet. Was the task force interesting in me or was he trying to give me a false sense of security?
"Faster!"
He yelled over at me when I slowed down my pace for just a moment. This wasn't going to end up good for me, I thought about my brother and his time in the military. I wondered if his training was harder then the one I underwent when they took me in.
I kicked a stone under my feet almost falling over but catching myself in time.
"That's 2 more laps!"
Fucker.
"Yes Sir!"
"Less talking more moving!"
I bet he sounds the same in bed.
What?
What was I even thinking? Whatever. I am probably right anyway.
I kept on running, lap after lap, I started to get tired when I was almost done. I got through my starting point, finishing the final lap.
"Hmpf."
I stood before Ghost, trying to keep my composure. You make me run 16 laps around the training grounds after an exhausting sparing match and feel the right to 'hmpf' at me? If I could use my actual rank, I would have never even looked his way.
"Spar with me."
He pushed himself off the wall walking closer to me. Spar? Now he want's to beat me up? Was this not enough for him?
"Sir-"
Before I could say anything I saw him throwing a punch my way. I ducked, quickly moving back, before I could regain my balance Ghost tried to hit me again. Instead I bent back and placed my hands on the ground standing on them, I tried to kick him as I did a round off, my feet almost brushing his jaw as he dodged.
His eyes grew wider, he didn't expect that, his whole demeanor changed quickly.
"So you can do more then you show."
I didn't want to waste precious time, my mind went through all the possibile attacks, he was much bigger then me, but still not as big as Micheal. I charged at him hoping for the best, I thought of how I used to fight my brother like this. Why did I think of him now?
"Slow."
Ghosts voice rang in my ears as he went to grab me by my waist. I reached out my hands grabbing his arms raising my self on them, my legs curled close to my chest as he held my body. Before I could kick him, he had pushed me to the ground, his hands holding mine above my head while his body weight fully pressed onto my chest. I could feel the bandages pressing against me even harder, I prayed to God for them not to snap. It was the only thing keeping my boobs in place, I let out a loud grunt from the pain.
"You are stiff, you can do better then this."
He finally got off me and I could breath again. I should have wore a binder instead.
"A mental block perhaps?"
He spoke more to himself rather then me, what was this for anyway? Why is he helping me? Is he even helping me? No, he is testing something, checking, assessing me.
"Get up. And throw off that jacket, it's getting in the way. You have work out clothes for a reason."
He didn't give me much time to recover, I sighed and took off the piece of clothing. I got ready for another round as he did as well, there was no words said between us but we both understood. Fight. Fight as if your life depended on it.
So I did.
I didn't win even win once. It made me so mad, I was close so many times but never able to get the final push, I needed to take him by surprise. I managed to get him on the ground, quickly straddling him and holding his arms down.
"Yes! Finally!"
I got the fucker down! I could feel the smile on my face growing, forgetting for a moment about anything else. That was until I was roughly shoved back onto the ground.
"You shouldn't celebrate so fast."
His hands placed on the sides of my head, he was now straddling me instead. My mood quickly died down, his skull mask hid his face but it couldn't hide his heavy breaths hitting my lips and his half lidded eyes. I looked at his body, his build wasn't so bad after all, I would say it was nice to look at.
Huh? I did everything in my power to keep my poker face as I looked even lower. I tried to act normal, looking away I waited for him to get off of me.
"Sorry, I will keep that in mind, Sir."
He didn't move for a moment as if inspecting me, I felt a sense of dread wash over me. It was gone as soon as he got up.
"That's it for today, go rest. Dismissed."
I watched as he dusted off his clothes and started to walk away.
This was quite nice.
After all I haven't fought someone like him in a while.
But Ghosts words still rang in my head.
A mental block? What did he mean?
