Maddie looked back at Justin, âAt the time, he was badly injured enough to save Pete, but he really couldnât walk or move, so he called Mr. Hunt. So⦠in fact, whether it was Xander or Pete, they were both about to die then, and he saved them. Itâs safe to say they both wouldnât have survived if it hadnât been for Calebâ¦â Maddie lowered her head, âI didnât know he was Trueman at the time. I thought he was just a teenager who had a crush on the lady. After I got my memory back, I found out that I actually used to be close to the lady.â
Nora slightly Stunned, âReally?â
Maddie nodded, âI was charged with protecting her back then, so Iâve been watching her. When she was a child, the lady was fat. In fact, he would often come over to play with you, and once in a while he would give you something to eatâ¦. ⦠and tried to convince you to call him brother.â
Brotherâ¦
Nora became ill when she was five years old and began to gain weight.
She vaguely remembered seeing a little boy when she was eight or nine years oldâ¦.
The boy looked like he was twelve or thirteen, and he was standing outside the village teasing her for being a little fat.
But once in a while, when my stepmother wasnât cooking for me, she would give me something to eatâ¦.. She liked to tease her.
But she didnât come around much after thatâ¦..
So she and Caleb met around that time?
Yâ¦
Caleb didnât just save Xander this time, he had already saved Xander and Pete then!
It was safe to say that, without Caleb, those two boys would have been killed by Henry a long time ago!
Nora stared blankly.
Now there was only one v16 left. To be honest, she heard what Old Maddy said and didnât know what to do.
But sheâs never been benevolent.
And people are selfish.
Even if Caleb helped her in many ways, Xander was her son, not to mention she wasnât a good person in the traditional sense.
That she would give up her son to save him, she couldnât do that.
She glanced at Justin, but saw that the man was frowning and saying nothing.
Nora understood him.
Justin canât help him make this decision.
Because Caleb helped him, Caleb saved Xander and Peteâs lives, if Justin made this decision, then Xander might hate him for the rest of his life, and their father-son relationship would never be good.
But someone had to be the villain.
Nora took a deep breath, âIâll make the decision.â
She glared at Justin, âThe V16, letâs use it on Xander.â
Justin frowned, âEven if he hates you in the future?â
âGood.â Nora nodded, âEven if he hates me, heâll live on to hate me, I donât care.â
Lawrence stood beside her.
After he and Sean sent Xander to sleep just now, they returned fearing that the boss had something to ask of him.
After hearing this, Lawrence couldnât help but sigh.
Sean had said that the chief couldnât make this decision because he feared his wife and the Young Master would hate him.
But at this moment, for the first time, Lawrence admired a woman and a mother from the bottom of his heart.
Indeed, mothers are the ones who can make the greatest sacrifice.
The lady can endure a lifetime of guilt, and add the hatred of her son to make this decision⦠in this way, the bossâs inaction is inferior to Miss Smithâs decision.
But Justin also understood that once Nora made this decision, his wife would live in guilt forever for the rest of her life, and would have no peace.
Eternal life owes someone a life.
Would such a woman continue to live a good life with her boss?
Even Lawrence thought of the people in martial arts novels who were buried because they owed their lives to othersâ¦.
Since I canât let you live, then Iâll die with youâ¦..
Miss Smith wasnât that kind of determined person, was she?
Lawrenceâs heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly became worried about his boss.
Then he turned his head and sawâ¦.
