Nora frowned. She didnât agree with his statement.
Life should matter more than anything else.
Even if Solo accompanied them to capture Barbarian, someone like him would be useless. If he brought him along, he would really just be throwing his life away.
Nora replied, âAs if youâve ever been in love.â
The next moment, Queenie slapped him.
Nora was taken aback.
Queenie hadnât put much force into the slap. Besides, Nora could have dodged it, but she didnât.
As for Queenie, she looked at her hand and suddenly a smile escaped her. She said, âThis is for your mother. Your mother once asked, âIs there any child who has never been disciplined by his parents,â and she told me to slap you once on her behalf. Now that Iâve done it, even if I drop dead, Iâll have something to say when I meet your mother.â
Nora: ââ¦â
She felt Queenie was doing this on purpose, deliberately using her motherâs identity to take advantage of her, but she had no proof.
Queenie then asked, âWho says Iâve never been in love?â
Nora asked curiously, âHave you? Who have you been with?â
âHeh, who says being in love has to always involve someone else?â.
Seeing that Nora didnât refuse his request, Solo obediently began to follow the two. When he heard Queenieâs response, he immediately commented in surprise, âI didnât expect you to be so narcissistic, Madame Schmidt. Are you really in love with yourself?â
Queenie: ââ¦â
The corners of Noraâs lips tightened.
The trio climbed into the car and headed back down the road. Nora asked, âWho were you secretly in love with, does he know?â
If she wasnât dating someone, then there was only one explanation: it was unrequited love.
Nora was very curious about Queenieâs romantic history.
Queenie smiled, âShe doesnât know, but thereâs also the possibility that she does.â
By then, Solo had also realized what she meant. He asked, âYou didnât go to confession?â
âNo, I didnât.â
Queenie said, âIf I confess, Iâm afraid we wonât be friends anymore.â
Just: â?â
She immediately realized something. âThe person youâre in love with must be your best friendâs husband, right?â.
Queenie raised her eyebrows but didnât deny what she was saying.
She just said with great respect, âThere are plenty of women who steal their best friendâs husbands, but for your best friendâs sake, you really suppressed your feelings. Thatâs really admirable of you.â
Noraâs mind, however, was already beginning to wander.
Queenie was a loner.
She made friends everywhere when she did business, but Nora had been with her all this time for the past five years. She hadnât seen any friends of hers that could be considered close.
In the midst of Noraâs curiosity, Queenie said, âSomeoneâs coming after us again.â
Her words interrupted the trioâs conversation.
Solo hurried to lean against the back seat window and looked back. âWhere are they?â
Nora also looked in the rearview mirror.
Those in the car following behind them were allies; there were about four mercenaries inside.
Behind them were a few other cars that looked normal.
There was only one car that was behaving abnormally. It was moving at a moderate speed and was following them.
When Nora deliberately accelerated, her alliesâ vehicle did the same and caught up with them. The same happened with the other car.
When Nora slowed down, her alliesâ vehicle did the same again and slowed down, while the black car also slowed down. The signs that it was following them were all too telling.
However, the strange thing was that even when Nora slowed down, she still showed no intention of overtaking or stopping them. âBlack Cat, we have confirmed that there is only one person in the car following us.â One of Noraâs subordinates relayed the message to her through his Bluetooth headset.
Nora frowned.
Why was someone following them again?
When Solo was following them, she had deliberately stopped to eat and catch him. So who was this guy?
If he was Barbarian, surely he would find a way to intercept them to get the V16. After all, by the time they reached the agreed meeting point, the mysterious organization would have people ambushed there, so it wouldnât be convenient for Barbarian to steal the V16 from them.
But if it was the mysterious organization, they would definitely not send a single person.
By sending just one person to fight the five, were they courting death?
Nora took a deep breath.
Creeeak!
She suddenly stopped the car in the emergency lane and spoke into the headphones. âKeep going.â
Her car did not stop, but slowed down and moved ahead of them.
The car following the two cars instantly braked and stopped on the road a short distance away. As the stop was too sudden, the car behind almost collided with it.
The driver hurried to turn the steering wheel and go around the other car in the adjacent lane. He then rolled down the window and went into a rant, after which he flashed his middle finger at the other driver, expressing his extreme anger.
Nora: ââ¦â
She could clearly sense that the person inside the car was hesitating. In the end, she approached with resignation.
The door opened, and a familiar figure stepped outâ¦.
The man had not yet fully recovered from his injuries, and even the bruises on his face had not yet faded. He limped a little as he walked, but this did not affect his elegant demeanor.
He gave a push to the glasses he was wearing. Then, with a slightly wary look, he said slowly, âYouâve found me out.â The man turned out to be⦠Caleb Gray!
