Her explanation?

Queenie was silent for a while.

Suddenly, she turned her head and looked out the window. “You know what? The truth is, I’ve long since forgotten what my name is really called. Ever since I was a teenager, when people started calling me Queenie Schmidt, I thought I had become the real Queenie.”

She lowered her head, a smirk on her lips.

“Ivy Lyons. That’s my real name.”

After speaking, she took a sip of red wine and said, “For MANY years, the mysterious organization never contacted me, and I naively thought I had actually gotten rid of them. But unexpectedly, right after I got the V16, I received their subpoena. And now, I must deliver the V16 to them.”

“Why?” Nora looked at her intently.

Why would a woman who was near death go against her own will and allow herself to be coerced by others?

“Because of my family.”

Queenie… Nora still preferred to call her Queenie, whether because the name was her mother’s pseudonym or for any other reason. To her, her aunt was Queenie Schmidt, and likewise, Queenie Schmidt was her aunt.

“Because my family has always been under her control.”

Queenie spoke indifferently, as if the matter had nothing to do with her.

Nora was silent.

Queenie looked at her. “If Cherry or Justin’s life were threatened and they demanded that you turn over the V16, would you do it?”

Yes.

Almost without thinking, Nora came up with an answer.

She sighed quietly and stared at the steering wheel in front of her.

So Aunt Queenie didn’t have a choice either, did she?

She turned her head to look at Queenie again, and her gaze fell on her.

Queenie had always dressed sexy. Even when she was at home, she wore a red silk nightgown most of the time. She had a good figure. But now Queenie was wearing a wide, baggy black coat.

There was pain in her eyes. Apparently from betrayal of someone she once saw as her sister, but also with another meaning. It was hard to tell what it really was.

Queenie looked at her again. “So, do you hate me?”

“Most likely not.”

Nora answered slowly. She took some time to think about what she wanted to say, so she could express her feelings more clearly. She said, “I was very sad when I found out you had taken the V16. But now that I know you had no other choice, I suddenly find myself intending to forgive you.”

Queenie was taken aback.

Suddenly, she smiled wryly and said, “After all these years, I’ve still let Yvette down in the end.”

Nora shook her head, however. “I think Mom expected this to happen. That’s why she chose to trust you unconditionally and gave you warmth, despite knowing full well that she knew nothing of your identity or background.”

Queenie laughed as she listened to her. “What are your plans now?”

“Not much.” Nora answered slowly, “I told you I’m only here to accompany you on your last journey.”

Queenie was surprised.

Suddenly she reached out and touched her head. “This trip is not going to be smooth. Barbarian is still watching us, and the mysterious organization will send their men to pick me up as well…. Why… are you doing this?”

He knew full well that she was his enemy, but he still came to accompany her without hesitation.

Nora smiled, “Because you’re my aunt.”

She lowered her head. “Besides, I owe you my life.

Five years ago… more like six now. After giving birth, her body had weakened greatly as she lay on the delivery bed. Since she was a little girl, Nora had lived in a loveless family. It was impossible for her to say that she did not envy her younger sister. When she saw her fake father lift her sister into the air, and when she saw her stepmother berate her sister, deep down, she had been envious of her.

Later, she began studying medicine with Silvester and practicing martial arts with Quinn. The two elders treated her well, but they were still men after all. All they did was scold her and tell her to grow up.

Queenie was the only one who had ever shown her a glimmer of warmth in her life.

She still remembered then being so weak she couldn’t even get out of the delivery bed. After giving birth to Cherry, she could only watch helplessly as Henry reached over to snatch the baby from her, but she could not even lift a finger….

At that moment, someone had suddenly kicked open the door. Queenie, dressed in red, had then entered, seeing that she was lying on the delivery bed. Her warm fingers closed around her hand and she said, “Don’t be afraid, Nora. I am already here.”

Then, he ordered his bodyguard to take the baby from her. He stood in front of her assertively and confronted Henry.

Henry had yelled, “What are you doing here?”

In a calm, firm voice, the woman replied, “I’ve come to take her home.”

By this time, Nora was already losing consciousness.

Before fainting, he heard her say, “Since you can’t take good care of her, from now on I will be the one to take care of her. From now on she will be my daughter.”

Queenie had taken her home then.

Now, she would take Queenie home.
