Nora was asking just to divert Xanderâs attention from the conflict.
Little Xander was already on the verge of exploding, thanks to the attitudes of his sibling duo.
Cherry was worthy of her title as a thoughtful and understanding baby, indeed. She instantly understood what Nora was trying to do and immediately said, âIt came up as a ânearby searchâ friend suggestion on my phone! Mommy, remember when Great Aunt Queenie took me to visit the British Royal Family? So I had just gotten my phone and installed a chat app and I really wanted to add some friends, so I looked at the ânearby searchâ friend suggestion list and added Xander! This was such a fateful encounter.â
After talking, Cherry walked over to Xander and grabbed his hand. âTurns out we had already met a long time ago, Xander!â
Sure enough, Xander was mollified. He snorted and said, âYeah, I knew it was impossible for me to be that nice to a bratty little girl for no reason. So, I guess you could say this had been preordained.â
Cherry nodded repeatedly. âSo, can I continue with my game now?â
The team battle had already begun. If she kept dilly-dallying, her teammates would scold her soon enough!
Xander: ââ¦.â
The three little ones made up and continued playing in peace. Nora sat down next to Queenie and watched them.
As she did so, she thought about what Cherry had just said, related it to the environment Xander had grown up in, and suddenly jumped to her feet.
His eyebrows drew together and he looked at Xander in astonishment and asked, âXander, Cherry. Are you sure Cherry only added Xander as a friend when she was visiting the British Royal Family and looking at the list of suggested friends nearby?â
Xander shook his head. âHow was I supposed to know where sheâd added me?â
Heâd grown up in a basement and had never been out, so he didnât know where that place was at all.
Cherry nodded. âYes, I remember it very clearly. When I was playing that time, Chesty had told me to make myself a Facebook account so it would be easier for her to contact me. Thatâs why I had signed up for a Facebook account. But I didnât have any friends on it, so I added someone from the list of people I was close to at the timeâ¦. I was with Princess Lucy then!â
Nora: â!!!â
She looked at the two of them. Suddenly, she turned around, walked out of the living room and up the stairs to her room.
Then, she picked up her phone and made a call to Morris. Morris quickly answered. âIs something wrong?â
Nora was quiet for a while before suddenly asking, âDidnât you say you had been searching for the location of the mysterious organization? Have you found any clues?â
Morrisâ deep, gravelly voice traveled through the phone to Nora. He replied, âNo, our adversaries are too powerful. We canât find any clues.â
After remaining silent for a while, Nora finally asked, âCould it be the residence of the British Royal Family?â
Her words stunned Morris for a moment, but immediately afterwards he said, âNo wonder, then!â.
Security at the Royal Palace was tight. There was no way Americans could infiltrate the place.
If the mysterious organization was really hiding under the Royal Palace, then it would be impossible for the United States to discover their base.
Morris frowned. âIâll have my men look into it.â
âAgreed.â
After hanging up the phone, Nora frowned and wondered. If the mysterious organization really turned out to be located under the Royal Palace, would the Queen be involved or not?
She had a vague feeling that it would all be over soon.
At that moment, his phone suddenly rang. When she answered, Karlâs voice addressed her.
âDamn it, thereâs a traitor in the Assassinâs Alliance, theyâve told the League of Assassins that this Black Cat is a fake! What are we going to do now?â
Karl was furious. âThe League of Assassins will definitely make things difficult for you. Besides, if word spreads that youâre a copycat, it will deal a terrible blow to the reputation of the Assassinsâ Alliance. How about this: why donât you stay out of it this time? Weâll also leave out the security work this time around.â
Towards the end, Karlâs voice had even faded and he became quite depressed.
The job this time was not only a great opportunity for the Assassin Alliance to officially publicize its existence, but it was also the best time for Karl to partner with the government and let the company start over with a clean bill. Who knew when their next opportunity would be if they let it slip away this time?
However, he couldnât put Nora in jeopardy.
