From the time she was born, Nora knew she had an Aunt Queenie.
Even Henry knew her. Her aunt also came back to the country to visit her once a year.
Henry thought Queenie led a very difficult life overseas, so she had never shown her much courtesy. However, Queenie treated Nora very kindly. She told him that she was her motherâs sworn sister and that her mother had saved her life on one occasion. Nora hadnât thought much of it then.
Later, Queenie continued to treat her very well.
Five years ago, when he brought her from the United States to Switzerland, it could be said that he had saved her life. After all, a woman was at her weakest and most fragile during childbirth.
Moreover, she had been pregnant with twins â no, triplets. To top it off, it had never occurred to her that she might go into labor early, so she hadnât been prepared.
It would have been very easy for someone to take her life at that moment if they had wanted to.
It was her aunt who nursed her back to health. Later, she even gave in to Cherryâs every demand, which caused Nora to gradually let her guard down with regard to her.
But Nora was still very curious: Who was her aunt?
She had founded and raised NTT from the ground up? Nora had checked out NTTâs success story before, and you could tell it was totally wild. First she had resold counterfeit goods in Southeast Asia, where she made a lot of money amidst a hail of gunfire. Then he came to Switzerland and started a money laundering business.
This continued until she founded NTT and turned it into a world-renowned company.
It took the woman only twenty-something years to turn NTT into the thriving business it is today.
However, the first twenty years of the life of someone like her had nothing to do with it.
Considering the womanâs talent and intelligence, how could she have led a dull and uneventful life for the first twenty years of her life?
Like Yvette, it was impossible to hide her talent. Despite not having a dramatic personality, Yvetteâs name had become known to others in New York at the time.
Prominent people-especially those who rose to the top of an industry-always shone, no matter how inconspicuous they were.
But this was not the case with Queenie.
The first twenty years of her life were far too ordinary. She was a girl who had grown up in a normal family and suddenly turned out to be dazzling in her twenties? This was simply too unusual.
Hearing Noraâs words, the corners of Queenieâs lips couldnât help but curl into a smile. She said, âWhatâs the matter, donât you trust me?â
Nora stared into Queenieâs eyes with her almond-shaped eyes.
Queenie had very attractive eyes. They were slightly slanted upward and looked very charming. When her lips curved into a slight smile, she formed a particularly charming picture.
Nora sighed. âWhy wouldnât I?â
If he didnât trust her, would he have sent the three children here?
Arguably, the person Nora trusted most in this world was Queenie, even if she knew almost nothing about her.
Even Justin would have to take a backseatâ¦.
Queenie scoffed. âDonât bother thinking about it anymore. Youâll know who I am, and everything else you need to know, when the time comes for you to find out. Do you want to know Justin Huntâs secret or not?â
âNo.â
Nora motioned Queenie away and said, âIâd rather he told me himself.â
Queenie looked at her speechless for a while. Finally, she snorted and said, âI didnât expect you to fall in love with a man.â
Nora knew what Queenie meant.
When she had lived abroad, Queenie had introduced her to several men, but she had turned them all down. It was true that she hadnât wanted any romance at the time.
Besides, she believed that being in love would affect her sleep time too much! Thatâs why she once declared that she would never fall in love with anyone in her entire life, nor would she ever marry.
Who would have thought that after that she would meet Justinâ¦.
Nora was about to speak when Xander, who was standing next to her, blinked his big eyes and interrupted them. He asked, âSo Mom is supposed to fall in love with a woman?â.
Queenie: â?????â
Nora: â?????â
Pete and Cherry: â?????â
The four of them turned and looked at Xander in unison, causing the little guy to cringe. âW-what?â
However, their interjection prevented Nora and Queenie from continuing their conversation. Instead, Queenie stood up and said, âAll right, boys, how about you come upstairs with me and take a look at your room?â
ââOkay!ââ
Pete and Xander got up.
Cherry took them by the hand and said, âCome on, letâs go! Iâll show you our house! My room is really, really big, so we can sleep together, yeah!â
Hearing Cherry call the place âour houseâ made Queenieâs eyes smile.
Nora got up too. She was about to go upstairs with them when suddenly her phone rang. When she answered, the voice of Cindy, who was helping her take care of the houses, was heard on the other end, âBoss, somethingâs wrong with Reneâ¦â
âWhatâs wrong?â
Noraâs eyes turned a little cold.
Cindy replied, âHe hasnât left his house since yesterday. I thought it was strange, so I went in to take a look just now, and thatâs when I found her in bed with her hands and feet tied. Later, I found out that it was Liam who had tied her up⦠he had sent Rene to come to us, but now that she is no longer useful, he left her here.â
ââ¦And so?â Nora asked.
It stood to reason that Cindy should be more than capable of handling these people smoothly, so why did she keep calling her for instructions?
Cindy sighed and said, âI untied Rene and told him to leave â after all, I know you probably wonât hold it against him â but he refused. She says Liam was just playing a joke on her and would definitely come back for her. She simply refuses to leave the house no matter whatâ¦..
Also, there is something mentally wrong with her. Sheâs been huddled in a corner all this time, not eating or drinking. She just curls up with her arms around her knees. She looks pitiful, so Iâm wondering if itâs okay for us to take her in for a few days.â
After speaking, Cindy was also sure she was being soft this time, so she hastened to add, âI wonât let her come in contact with you anymore.â
Nora sighed quietly.
Rene was a pitiful person.
Having been adopted by abusive parents at a very young age, she had come out of one hellhole with great difficulty only to be taken into another by Liam.
Liam had treated Rene very well, so well that Rene must have even started to believe in love, right?
But in the end, he had just used her.
How is it possible that there are so many instances of love between people of unequal status in this world?
Nora thought for a moment and then said, âMm, let her live there if she doesnât want to leave. Itâs not like weâre short of money anyway.â
âOkay.â
Nora hung up the phone and went upstairs.
As soon as she got to the third floor, she hears Cherry point to a room and explain to Pete and Xander, âThat room is full of Great Aunt Queenieâs secrets, so we canât go in there, okay~? No matter what the circumstances, weâre not allowed to go in there, okay?â.
Noraâs eyes rested on the door.
Since arriving in Switzerland five years ago, she had been told all this time that she was forbidden to enter Queenieâs room.
Nora had never once intruded on Queenieâs privacy or secrets either.
However, it would be a lie to say she wasnât curious.
In fact, there were so many times that she wanted to push the door open, but in the end she restrained herselfâ¦.
It was at that moment that Queenie suddenly stepped in front of her and asked with a smile, âWould you like to come in?â
