Once Nora retrieved the serums, she would only need one for Xander.
Caleb was the only one who had any relationship with Nora. However, his cancer was already at an advanced stage and he didnât have long to live. Besides, he hadnât thought to fight for the serum either.
Therefore, it was true that he only needed one.
It was best that Nora take Liam up on his offer. If the two of them took one each, the loot would be split evenly. Besides, the current situation seemed to have reached an impasse.
Liam was pretty sure Nora would agree, but he just looked down and moved on.
âDonât move! If you come any closer, Iâll really empty the serums into the river!â shouted Liam nervously.
Nora didnât stop, however.
She kept walking forward with a slight smile on her lips.
âWell, itâs purified water anyway, so it doesnât matter even if you empty them into the river.â
Her words stunned Liam. âWhat did you say?â
Nora looked at him. âAs I said, we stayed at the school because we wanted to catch Barbarian, and for that we had made all the preparations. So why would I go to the lab to refine the gene serum so carelessly after I had gotten it?â
He looked at Liam and continued. âI didnât expect you to be the backup plan in Barbarianâs plans, but the moment you walked into the lab, I figured as much. In that case, why would I keep refining the V16 and give it to you?â
He looked at the vials of reagents in Liamâs hand and said, âFeel free to throw it away.â
There was only distilled water there anyway, Nora had poured the real genetic serum into an inconspicuous test tube in Wayneâs lab.
Only after Liam had taken the two vials of âgenetic serumâ and left, she had slowly and leisurely stored the real V16 in a special container.
Liam: â!â
He stared incredulously at the vials in his hand. Suddenly, he opened the lids and threw one straight into the river.
But even when he did that, Nora didnât react in the slightest.
This proved that everything she had said was true.
Liam realized at once that he had been tricked.
He threw the other bottle of purified water into the river as well and immediately climbed into his car. Before Nora could reach him, he violently started the car, causing it to rocket forward!
Given Noraâs skill behind the wheel, he knew she would certainly be able to catch up with him, but by then, running away had already become instinctive for him.
Seeing that panic had taken hold of him again, Nora lowered her gaze and scoffed. She climbed into her car, moving very slowly. When she got into the car, Liamâs car was already two hundred yards away.
But just as she was about to accelerate to catch up with Liamâ¦.
Bang! Boom!
Liamâs car suddenly exploded violently!!!!
The whole car instantly plunged into a sea of flames, which in turn caused some cars passing nearby to explode as well.
Nora could feel her car shaking as well. Sound waves and the residual impact of the explosion assaulted her from the front, the impact even cracked the windshield.

Half an hour later.
At the hospital.
Nora finished dressing her wounds.
Fortunately, the windshield of the car she was driving had been modified into bulletproof glass, so she was relatively safe. But even so, some parts of the windshield had shattered and dug into his arm.
The other four or five cars around them, however, were not so lucky.
Some of the occupants of the cars suffered burns covering more than 70% of their skin, while others died on the spot. There was even a family of three in one of the cars. Both parents had died and only the child in the back seat had survived. Even so, he had also suffered burns.
Before the anesthesia was administered, he kept calling his parentsâ¦. The doctors could only console him and tell him that his parents would be back soon.
The scene was simply too devastating and Nora couldnât help but clench her fists as she watched.
She really hadnât expected Spacey to plant a bomb in his own car. Besides, his mental toughness had also been far worse than she had imagined.
To think heâd be running around in a panic like a headless chickenâ¦.
She clenched her jaw. After her arm was bandaged, her phone rang.
It was an unregistered number.
She answered the call, and Barbarianâs voice was heard from the other end, âIs the scene before you to your liking?â
Noraâs pupils sharply contracted at his words and she suddenly realized something. She asked, âAre you the one who planted the bomb in his car?â
âThatâs right,â Barbarian scoffed, âNot only is he stupid and foolish, but heâs also a coward who values his life too much. When someone like him encounters a problem, thereâs no way heâd have the guts to risk an act of desperation. If he didnât die, he would have ended our plan! He knew too much! So, if he couldnât retrieve the V16, he must have died!â
Barbarianâs coldness made Noraâs jaw clench.
As Nora watched the bodies of the parents of the family of three being removed from the operating room, she suddenly couldnât help but question him. âHave you ever thought about how many innocent people have been hurt by your actions? How many innocent families have been destroyed?â
Barbarian sneered. âWhat do they have to do with me? Besides, from the moment I was born, has the world ever shown me kindness? If not, why should I show them any kindness? Donât get all moralistic and condemn me. You have not suffered as I have, How can you understand what I feel?â
He spoke coldly and indifferently. There was no anger in his voice, in fact, there wasnât even any emotion, just as a human wouldnât feel guilty for crushing an ant.
His attitude convinced Nora that the man might have actually bombed the entire Horgen District, had his aunt not helped him deal with the bomb there.
If it were to be said that Nora had felt that Barbarian and the others only became what they were today because of the cruel things the mysterious organization had done to them, then she no longer felt any sympathy for Barbarian at this time.
Life was to be respected, not to be trifled with as if it was worthless.
Barbarian must exist only to take revenge on society, right?
Nora said no more.
Barbarian, on his part, suddenly said, âThe two genetic serums are with you, arenât they? But I tell you one thing: Donât try to inject your child with the genetic serum!â.
Nora was a little puzzled. âWhy?â
âHeh, when I was a kid, I lived with four other kids. You know how all four of them died? When they were injected with the seventh and eighth doses, the interval between those two doses was shorter than half the interval between the previous onesâ¦â
Nora suddenly realized something. She asked, âAre you saying that one would also die if injected with V16 too soon?â
âOf course. If not, why did we suddenly start frantically searching for it for the last two years?â
Barbarian scoffed and said, âItâs because all of us have only less than three months left, but the drug canât be injected in advance. You just injected V15 into his son, didnât you? Then youâll have to wait at least two months before you can inject him with V16.â
Nora didnât believe Barbarian, but she didnât dare dismiss his words either.
She was afraid that something would go wrong.
However, Barbarian would never tell her all this out of the goodness of his heart. And sure enough, the next moment, he said, âIf you donât believe me, feel free to ask Caleb Gray about it. Of course, Iâm not telling you all this out of kindness; rather, itâs because I canât get back in time. Iâm afraid heâll be in a hurry and youâll inject your son with the serum first.â
Nora: ââ¦â
Well, that made sense.
She hung up on Barbarian and turned to Caleb.
Calebâs surgery had just finished. With the broken rib, he would have to be on bed and rest for a while, no matter what. He asked Caleb about the authenticity of Barbarianâs claims, and Barbarian told him that what he said was true.
âLooks like Iâll have to find a place to store the serum and wait for a month to pass before I can inject Xander with itâ¦â.
Nora felt uneasy.
She had finally gotten the serum after much difficulty, but now she was being told she had to wait another month.
Who knew what other unforeseen events might occur during that month.
Caleb also felt terribly helpless. He sighed and said, âYes, thatâs right. Besides, since Trueman is watching Barbarian, he must also know that the serums are with you. Although Barbarian is also a fearsome existence, Trueman is also not to be trifled with. I suggest you be cautious during this month.â
A resigned Nora nodded.
A safe placeâ¦
She hardly knew any safe places.
What was she going to do about it?
She wondered if Justin would have any.
At the thought of Justin, however, Nora couldnât help gnashing her teeth.
Where had that scumbag gotten off to while she was slaving away here? Nora secretly threw her opinion in the manâs face. With the school closed and the explosion on the bridge, she didnât think Justin wasnât aware of her situation.
Since he wasnât contacting them, it meant he might be doing something more important.
Nora had just been thinking about this when her phone rang.
When she answered it, her auntâs voice came from the other end, âCherry and the others are here with me. When are you coming over?â
Nora let out a quiet sigh and replied, âNow, I guess.â
It had been a long time since she had seen her aunt .
