Nora, who had been taken as an imaginary enemy, didn’t give a damn whether Epson’s experimental project was successful or not. When she returned home, she found the house quite lively.

When she opened the door and walked in, she saw an uninvited guest: Rene.

Rene still looked as shy as ever and had her head down.

However, she had bathed, so her hair was much softer. There wasn’t a bad smell about her either. Although her clothes were plain – and even had patches in places – they were clean.

Cherry was offering her snacks. “René, try it! Don’t be afraid, it’s delicious!”

René was so scared that she handed the snack back to her. “N-no, it’s okay. I don’t eat them…”

Cherry’s big eyes blinked, she smiled and said again.

“Have some! It’s okay, I can’t finish that many sandwiches anyway, yeah!”

René shook her hands again.

Cherry didn’t insist any more. The moment she took the snacks from him, Nora saw Rene let out a sigh of relief; evidently, he was afraid of socializing.

But if he was so afraid of socializing, why was he here?

As she was thinking about it, when Rene saw her walk in, she was so shocked that she immediately stood up. “M-M-Miss Smith.”

“… I’m not S-M-Miss Smith. My name is Lisa.”

Rene was stunned for a moment.

Nora’s voice was still as low as ever as she said, “Well, it was a joke. You don’t have to call me Miss Smith, you can call me Lisa.”

A hint of sweetness shone in Rene’s eyes as he perceived her kindness.

People who lived in a world full of malice would appreciate every little bit of kindness others extended to them. That was exactly how Rene looked at that moment, grateful.

She lowered her head and whispered, “I…I’m here to thank you.”

“For what?”

As she asked, Nora looked at Xander.

There were still two months left, so Xander was in a very stable state for the moment.

Rene continued to speak softly. “Liam was promoted because you helped him, right? Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” Nora looked at her, “I was the one who dragged him into it, so of course I had to do something.”

Rene let out a sigh of relief again.

Then she pointed to the cake on the table and said, “I made it myself. You and the children can taste it.”

The three little ones would never touch the things their neighbors gave them until she got home. Nora was very pleased with their manners.

She nodded her head. “Thank you.”

Rene became self-conscious again, though she was also relieved to have completed her task. “I-I’ll be going then.”

Nora waited for him to leave before heading for the door and looking out. Sure enough, she saw Liam waiting for Rene outside.

Rene’s eyes lit up when she saw him. She walked over and grabbed his arm. She looked very clingy. When she whispered something to him, Liam nodded.

Evidently, Rene had taken the initiative to visit them because of Liam’s instructions.

Was he trying to please her because he knew Nora was a senior executive at NTT?

However, Nora didn’t much care. After all, that was human nature.

Soon night fell.

In the laboratory building of Staav University.

Epson was really very scared. After all, everyone else in the building had dutifully stopped their experiments and returned.

If there really was a killer, there would be no one to kill but them. So even though he was very sleepy, he still kept his spirits high and kept watch outside.

Slowly, bit by bit, the clock went from nine o’clock to five o’clock in the morning.

Seeing the sky gradually light up, Epson slowly relaxed. He even approached the students and jokingly said, “See, it’s been a whole night, there is no killer! Those people just wanted to scare us. It was a lucky thing that we didn’t leave and end up wasting this precious night. I’m going to complain to the university president tomorrow! And I’m going to tell him that those SWAT agents are simply getting out of control on campus, Which has seriously affected our lives and work progress!”
