Chapter 852

Brenda narrowed her eyes. “Don’t ask any more questions, Nora. I just can’t be with him. I only got this far because you gave him the address, didn’t you? Don’t do that again.”

After saying that quietly, she raised her head again, then returned to her usual calm and lazy self. “After all, with him around, I won’t be able to go with other cute guys anymore! Right?” Seeing that Brenda didn’t seem to want to say anything, Nora knew that she had probably done something wrong this time.

Maybe she shouldn’t have told Solo where Brenda was, but she had always thought that a lot of problems between people were just due to misunderstandings.

It was like Tanya and Joel back then. There had been a lot of misunderstandings between them. If they didn’t see each other or get in touch, how were they going to resolve misunderstandings between them?

That’s why I wanted to let Solo and Brenda get together and talk.

But judging by Brenda’s demeanor, it seemed she had no intention of explaining anything.

Nora paused before slowly saying, “Brenda, I think it would be better if there were no misunderstandings between you. Those cheesy TV dramas and soap operas are way too over the top. We’re all adults here. Besides, times move very fast nowadays. If there really is some kind of misunderstanding, it would do us all good to spell it out clearly.”

Brenda lowered her eyes. “There is no misunderstanding between him and me. Nora, I know very well what I’m doing.”

Seeing that she still didn’t want to reveal more, Nora nodded. “All right, I won’t interfere with you.”

“Thank you.”

Brenda and Nora were straightforward people. After the two spoke, Brenda said, “Now I just want to get Barbarian. As for Solo, I’ll leave that to you.”

“Yeah, okay.”

Brenda left after saying that.

Nora stayed where she was and watched her from behind.

Brenda was very professional. After walking away, she picked up the walkie-talkie and started contacting the people stationed at each address. They had to report every ten minutes to keep the barbarians from breaking through from any direction.

As for Nora, she went back the way she had come and as she rounded the corner she saw Solo standing there, not knowing what to do.

When Nora met Solo, he had been badly wounded. His lungs had been punctured and it looked like he wasn’t going to survive. The guy had only survived because Nora had operated on him.

Even when he was seriously injured, the man was never serious. After owing her a favor, whenever he had to do something for her, he had always done it very reluctantly.

It was the first time Nora had seen him so lost and despondent.

She walked up and asked, “Are you coming back?”

“No.” He just shook his head. “I can’t believe I did something like this. I want to stay and find out why he’s doing this. It wasn’t easy for me to finally fall in love with a woman after all this time. I can’t just give up like this.”

Nora was quiet for a moment, but it didn’t deter him.

Only then did he look at her again. “So, can you find me a place to stay?”.

Nora: “?”

Was he going to hold on to her now?

She replied, “It’s not that you don’t have money. Go and get a hotel room for yourself.”

“I can’t stay in a hotel.” He just followed her from behind and said pitifully, “Didn’t I tell you, I broke the law.”

The corners of Nora’s lips twitched slightly. When she remembered how Solo had told her upon his arrival in America that Interpol was after him in Switzerland. She asked, “What have you done?”

Solo scratched his head. “It’s really nothing serious. All I did was race a white hat and hack into their computer. After that, those puny guys started chasing me.” A white hat referred to a hacker who served the government.

Solo had always been flamboyant in the way he did things, so it didn’t strike Nora as odd that he would do something like that. The corners of her lips tightened a little and she sighed. “Fine.”

Nora took him to a hotel, booked a room for Solo with his fake ID and paid for a five-day stay.

“Five days later, if you still don’t have it all figured out, you’ll have to find a place to stay by yourself,” said a heartless Nora.

Alone: “…”

Seeing Nora leaving, Solo grabbed her. “What kind of mission is Brenny on, isn’t she just some random cop, why did she come to Switzerland?”

“… To arrest a serial killer.”

Solo’s expression changed. “Isn’t that too dangerous?”

Solo had been studying computer science all this time, so he was cooped up at home all year. Although he was quite tall, he was thin and barely had any flesh on him. Nora looked at his body with disdain, not knowing why Brenda had fallen in love with him.

He wouldn’t put up with a punch from her or Brenda.

He just said anxiously, “Then I’m going to protect her tonight!”.

Nora curved her lips in disdain. “You? Forget it. If you leave, she’ll be in even more danger.”

Because she would have to protect him!

Solo: “…”

The corners of Solo’s lips spasmed and he said nothing.

Nora didn’t bother with Solo anymore and left the hotel. He was almost thirty now, surely he could take care of himself, couldn’t he?

Nora continued walking around the campus.

To be honest, she might as well go into the archives and look for file 004. However, with Barbarian around, she shouldn’t do that. If she did, she would be telling him directly that V16 was in the archives.

She couldn’t beat Barbarian in a fight, so she shouldn’t let him take the initiative.

She could only outsmart him and use a reasonable excuse to check file #004. It seemed she could only get close by using Wayne’s project.

As she thought about this, Nora started walking toward the lab building.

As soon as she entered, she heard a dispute coming from up ahead.

At first, she had no intention of paying attention to it, but in the middle of the argument, she heard Brenda’s voice. He turned around and walked over to find Epson and Brenda arguing.

Brenda was dressed in a professional suit and looked very elegant. She had one hand on her hip and the other raised as she looked at the time. “You need to be out of here by five o’clock at the latest.”

Epson replied angrily, “I’m not leaving! My experimental project is about to end! You have to do this for Anti, don’t you? You don’t want me to finish my experiments quickly, for fear I’ll slap her? Heh, Officer Hunt, you’re just a police officer! We have full permission to work on our experiments here! You have no right to interfere with my freedom.”
