But when Oscar heard what Nora said, he thought she was just trying to push herself beyond her capabilities.

Oscar was quick to explain, “It’s not that we look down on NYU School of Medicine, but for many years now, all the exchange students coming from your school have always ranked last. They have never made respectable grades…”.

This was also the reason why no one in the Biomedicine Department wanted to be an exchange student.

The Department of Biomedicine at NYU School of Medicine was not ranked in the country, nor was it the best specialized institution in the country. Their best courses were in surgery, medicine, and other specialties related to medical skills. They were relatively weak in pharmacy.

On the other hand, Staav University was the best school in the world for biomedical engineering. This was also the most difficult course to get into Staav University each year.

There was no doubt that there was a gap between the two.

Although no one knew why the two schools had an exchange program each year, it was certainly a form of torture for biomedical majors to study here.

Oscar thought the students’ comments had hurt Nora’s self-esteem, so he consoled her and said, “Your grade on the exam is what matters most; nothing else. Lisa, I’m very disappointed in you. It’s not bad when you’re not that smart; what’s bad is when you’re not smart enough and keep trying to defend your empty pride. If I were you, I would strive to absorb knowledge and use my best grades to shut them up instead of giving up on myself like you are doing.”

When Oscar finished speaking, he picked up his book again. “Lisa, do you know why the counselor asked me to guide you? It’s not because my grades are the best, but because I’m the hardest worker. The counselor treats you well. We’re all her students, so she doesn’t look down on you. And yet you try to prove yourself everywhere and maintain your pitiful self-esteem. You are a very pitiful person.”

After saying that, Oscar didn’t look at her anymore. She too had her own form of arrogance. Even though Lisa’s level in the specialization course seemed poor to her, she was still willing to help her. Oscar never looked down on students who were not very smart. He only looked down on students who, at first glance, lacked intelligence and yet refused to make an effort.

Nora wanted to explain, but the teacher had already entered.

“Let’s start the exam.”

Nora could only keep quiet.

The exam began.

Oscar took exams even more seriously than studying. It was only through the exams that his efforts were reflected. He liked the feeling of getting first place.

The exam questions were not difficult for Oscar, so after finishing the multiple choice questions at the beginning, he unconsciously glanced at Nora only to see that she had already turned a page.

Oscar frowned.

Couldn’t she answer any of them? So she ended up marking some random options?

Oscar shook his head.

Was she such a sensitive person?

He lowered his head and continued with the paper.

There was a question in the middle that left Oscar a little perplexed.

He frowned as he contemplated the question wanting to deduce the answer. He had two ideas in mind but didn’t know which one was correct. After thinking about it for quite a while, he finally picked one and wrote it down.

Just after he wrote down the answer to the question, he heard footsteps.

Oscar raised his head abruptly to see Nora getting up and presenting her exams.

Oscar: “?”

His expression became even more terrible and his contempt for Nora grew even stronger.

He liked people who worked hard and disliked even more people who gave up easily.

She still had two pages left to complete, but that woman had already turned in her exam. She must have completely given up on the exam, right?

Not only did she not study, she didn’t even put in the effort and just relied on her own ideas for her exams. Moreover, he even handed in his exam early. Even his attitude towards his studies was no longer respectable. He had given up completely with exam.

An expression as if he had expected better from Nora appeared on Oscar’s countenance.

He took a deep breath and continued with the exam.

After the exam, when she left the classroom, she happened to see the counselor waiting for her outside. Upon seeing her, the counselor asked, “Oscar, where’s Lisa?”

A displeased Oscar replied, “She turned in the test early, she’s already gone!”.

The counselor looked at her, “Did you look down on her? Oscar, this is an academic institution. We are not to belittle anyone here, do you understand?”.

Oscar said with dissatisfaction, “I didn’t belittle her. I only look down on people who don’t study.”

After speaking, he asked, “Can I stop being your guide? We don’t get along and we can never work together.” The counselor frowned. “Honey, have you given up on Lisa? You’re the best student in the class. If even you give up on her, what’s she going to do?”

Oscar’s heart softened, but after careful thought, he nevertheless hardened his heart and said, “Ma’am, I haven’t given up on her, it is she who has given up on studying. I am not going to study with such a listless person.”

The counselor immediately said, “What does she have to do for you to help her? Oscar, I think you can still try.”

Oscar shook his head. “That’s impossible, she doesn’t interest me anymore. Besides, I want to take the graduate entrance exam. Ma’am, you know me. If you want me to guide you… well, I would only accept if you score higher than me on the exam.”

The counselor immediately ducked her head. “You know that’s impossible. You are the best among the students and you always get the best grades on the exams.”

Oscar shook his head and walked away with his backpack in his arms. “So there’s no way I’m going to guide her again. I’m going to the library to read, please don’t take up any more of my time.”

Oscar walked away, leaving only the counselor standing as she sighed.

What was Lisa going to do if Oscar refused to continue guiding her? What a headache.

After thinking about it, the counselor decided to go to the office of the professor of cellular and molecular bioscience. She asked, “Professor, how did Lisa do on her exam?”

The professor made a dismissive gesture and said, “They just finished the exam, so I haven’t looked at the exams yet.”

The counselor asked, “Can you pull out Lisa’s test and take a look at it first?”

The counselor just hoped Lisa didn’t get a very bad grade on the test. If Nora got a C, she could try to talk to Oscar again!
