Epson was a big, tall white man. He was 30 years old and a little overweight. There was a trace of hostility in his eyes.
Nora narrowed her eyes.
Did Epson recognize her?
But they had never met.
As she wondered, Epson said, âThat girl Iâve never seen before, the one in the back row. Yes, you. Tell me your name.â
At the sound of Epsonâs voice, all the students in the classroom looked at Nora.
Although Nora was quizzical, she calmly replied, âLisa.â
âLisa?â Epson smiled. âYou must be the exchange student from NYU School of Medicine, right?â
Nora nodded. âYes.â
Epson looked down. âI hear the courses there are pretty straightforward. By the way, youâre from the Biology Department, arenât you? The professor your school hired externally⦠no, itâs no longer an external hire but an internal hire. Have you attended Professor Antiâs classes before?â
Nora: â?â
She raised her eyebrows, puzzled. âAnti is the head of the Department of Surgery, she is not from the Department of Biomedicine, so she has never taught there.â
âIs that so?â
Epsonâs voice was full of displeasure when he spoke of Anti. âHe sure is as arrogant as ever!â.
Nora understood now.
Epson had once emailed her every day for more than 300 days, but she had never replied. For Epson, she must be too arrogant.
Epson must have something against Anti!
Nora did not speak.
Epson continued. âI have to say itâs really unfortunate that she never taught you.â
Nora: â?
The next moment, he continued. âSo, you have no way of evaluating our classes, let alone realizing that Iâm actually much better than she is.â
The corners of Noraâs lips tightened slightly. Her eyes narrowed and she no longer bothered to pay attention to him.
She simply lowered her head and opened the textbook.
She had long since studied and thoroughly researched biomedicine. To become Silvesterâs student, she not only had to be an expert in alternative medicine, but she also had to have pharmaceutical knowledge. Biomedicine was an important tool in the pharmaceutical industry.
When a bored Nora flipped through the book from cover to cover, she discovered that she already knew everything, so she simply put the book aside and rested her head on the table.
The hardest thing about being a student was that, since she had to go to class at eight oâclock, she had to get up at seven in the morning every day, get cleaned up and then driveâ¦.
I was too sleepy.
Oscar, who was sitting next to her, looked nervously at Epson, wishing she could record everything she said so she could go back and study it carefully.
The girl, who was listening to the class intently, turned her head abruptly. Seeing Nora sleeping on the table, she frowned slightly and then sighed.
The two periods were soon over. In the blink of an eye, it was ten oâclock.
Since they were third-year students, they didnât have that many classes, so there were no more classes for the rest of the day.
The laughter of her classmates around her caused Nora to slowly wake up. She lifted her head with a groggy look on her face. Since she had been sleeping on the table, she had a mark on her cheek.
âHahaha, this girl is so cute!â
âBut she really had the guts to sleep in Professor Epsonâs class. What a pity, what Professor Epson talked about in this class was just amazing!â
âActually, you canât blame her for that. Without a foundation, she wonât be able to understand anythingâ¦â
Nora didnât care at all about what they were saying. She just stretched and looked at Oscar. âNo more classes today, see you tomorrow?â.
After speaking, she picked up her bag to leave.
Oscar was stunned. âWhere are you going?â
Nora answered hesitantly, âHome, of course!â.
Oscar held her forehead. âHow can you go home, thereâs a cell and molecular biology exam tomorrow! My goodness, I forgot you probably donât have a schedule yet.â
Oscar then said, âWeâre already at the end of the term, so exams are just around the corner. Even though youâre an exchange student, you happen to be on time for it. I really donât know what your school is thinking, sending an exchange student here at this time. Why didnât they send you here at the beginning of the new semester?â
It was because he couldnât afford to wait for the new semester, of course.
But Nora wasnât going to explain that to Oscar, so she just nodded and said, âOkay, I understand.â
Only then did Oscar speak. âThen letâs go to the library and study together! I can teach you some basics. Even if studying at the last minute doesnât do any good, we should still try, right?â
â⦠No, itâs okay. I have something to attend to, so Iâll leave first.â
Without giving Oscar another chance to speak, he walked out with his backpack.
File 004 wasnât even in the library, so why would he waste his time going there?
The place she wanted to go now was the Staav University Advanced File.
Nora walked around the school. After asking around, she arrived at the building where the archives were located.
She looked left and right. When she saw that no one was paying attention to her, she went straight up to the building.
The Advanced Archive was the secret base of Staav University. All the files in the room were classified at SSS level and had the highest priority in the school.
A special ID card was required to enter, no matter who you were.
Thud!
Nora accidentally bumped into someone coming out of the room.
The man immediately looked at her with a frown and said, âSorry.â
Then, apparently in a hurry, he ran off in a panic.
As he walked away, Nora looked at the floor.
At last, what she wanted had come to her effortlessly.
Just like that, an advanced file access card lay quietly on the floor: it had fallen out of the manâs pocket at that moment.
With the opportunity right in front of her, it went without saying that Nora wasnât about to let it slip away.
She bent down and picked up the card. When she looked around and saw that no one was there, she swiped it through the door lock at once.
Beep.
The metal door opened. Nora squinted and immediately stepped inside.
