Nora narrowed her eyes and looked straight ahead with a sharp stare.
Had the children disappeared?
Philip probably hadnât left the country yet â had he changed his mind and decided to go back?
The thought had just formed when something suddenly occurred to her, stunning her for a moment. She slowly turned her head and looked at the trunk of the car.
She was silent for a while. Suddenly, she reached over and opened the trunk, upon which she immediately saw the three little ones hiding inside, all huddled together.
Cherry, who was in the innermost position, was trying to stretch her legs. âPete, youâre in my space!â
Pete shifted a little. âWhat now?â
Xander complained, âYouâre kicking my ass!â
Nora: ââ¦â
She let out a cough. Only then did the three little ones raise their heads sharply and looked at Nora. Cherry showed no sign of embarrassment at being caught at all. On the contrary, she blinked and said, âMommy, are we at the airport yet? That was fast.â
Her prolonged last syllable as she spoke amused Nora.
These three little ones were too bold.
And to think they had been hiding in the trunk! It was too dangerous for them to come all the way here like that!
This was especially true when she was driving at high speeds. Fortunately, she had been on the highway all the way to the airport, so the roads had been very good. Also, since it was still early and she had time until boarding, she had not been in a hurry and had driven leisurely.
With a look of disgust, Nora said, âWho said they could do such a thing?â
Cherry immediately hugged her arm. âBut Mommy, I canât bear to part with you-â.
Nora looked down and took a deep breath. âI know, I canât bear to part with you either. But thereâs something very important I have to do in Switzerland, so I canât take you with me.â
Cherry was quick to say, âI know, youâre looking for medicine to treat Xanderâs illness, right? If so, all the more reason for us to go. I can even help Mom.â
Nora spoke very firmly. âNo.â
Pete said, âBut Mommy, we donât want to be separated from you. We just got together. Besides, the tyrant is no longer here. If you go too, then weâllâ¦â
She didnât finish the sentence.
But there was no doubt that sensitive Pete must be feeling insecure.
Noraâs heart softened a little. But after looking at the children, she hardened her heart and said, âYou donât have to say any more. Iâm going to have Uncle Richard take all three of you home. They canât come with me this time.â
Given the dangerousness of the situation, how was she going to take them?
With that in mind, Nora turned to speak to the chauffeur, who had come with her. However, a small hand grabbed her wrist again.
She lowered her head and saw Xander looking at her. The little boy was smiling. When he spoke, there was always an unorthodox temper around him, his canine teeth were so white that they shone He said slowly, âMommy, you said today that youâll be in Switzerland for a month at least and three at the most, but that youâll definitely be back. But what if you donât find the V16, have you thought about that? When you come back three months later⦠Will it be to bury me? Just like I buried Butterscotch in the ground, are you going to bury me there, too?â
His words completely broke through Noraâs defenses.
She crouched down, lowered her head and wrapped her arms around Xander. She said, âNo, that wonât happen, Xander. Donât worry, Iâm sure Iâll find the antidote!â.
Xander kept smiling as he said, âBut itâs also possible you wonât find it. If so, I only have three months to live.â
In a low whisper, he slowly said, âDuring these three months, I only want to be with you and the tyrant.â
The stunned Nora froze in place.
Indeed.
Her mindset all this time was that Xander only had less than three months to live, so she had to do what she could to find a way out for him. However, she had neglected one thing: What if she couldnât find one?
So, in the last three months of Xanderâs life, was he going to be away from the boyâs side?
He finally relented. âOkay, Iâll take all three of you with me!â
âYes!â Cherry stretched her arms out and jumped straight into Noraâs arms excitedly. She wrapped her arms around Noraâs neck and said, âMommy is the best! Finally, we donât have to be apart anymore.â
Pete was also relieved.
Xander smiled, with a somewhat relieved and brave smile.
Every time the subject of death came up, to be honest, it terrified him.
Although, come to think of it, if he could die in Mommyâs arms, then it wouldnât seem so scary to him anymore.
There were still two hours before boarding. Nora contacted Lily urgently and bought three first-class tickets for the children. Only then did she get out of the car with them.
The group was not carrying much luggage. As they drove to the airport, a concerned Pete came to say, âIs it okay that we didnât bring luggage? We donât even have a change of clothesâ¦â
âDonât worry, Pete! Great Aunt will take care of getting everything ready. Iâll tell her right now that weâre going to go see her soon. I guarantee that Great Aunt will be there to pick us up when we get off the plane.â
No sooner had she said that than Nora stopped her. âDonât tell your Great Aunt.â
Cherry was surprised. âWhy?â Nora explained, âWeâre going secretly this time, itâs not good for us to attract too many peopleâs attention. So, for the time being, we wonât go to your Great Auntâs house.â
Nora planned to infiltrate the university and search for the V16 immediately.
Trueman and the other experimental subjects should be watching her, especially the expert wrestlerâ¦. She must go as unnoticed as possible!
Cherry was a little disappointed to hear this. âOh, I see.â
She missed her Great Aunt very much.
However, she nodded sensibly. âOkie-Dokie!â

Fifteen hours later, the plane landed in Bern, the de facto capital of Switzerland.
Nora had lived there for five years, so she was very familiar with all things Swiss.
She dragged the suitcase with Cherry sitting on top of it. Xander and Pete followed along with the suitcase. The group of four got off the plane.
There were foreigners everywhere, but since both Cherry and Xander had grown up abroad, it didnât seem strange to them.
Although Pete had never been to Switzerland, he had been exposed to many situations, so he was also very calm.
As the four of them were about to head for the exit, Nora suddenly stopped, because she saw a familiar figure ahead!
Before she could react, Cherry had already climbed out of the suitcase. She ran toward the figure and shouted, âDaddy!â
