The breeze blew on the curtains, making them billow. In the room, Noraâs face alternated between light and dark as the fluttering curtains cast shadows on her.
She stared dumbfounded at the contents of the metal box: there was only one memo, and on it was again written the Morse code. However, she already had the key to the rare encoding of Morse code, so it took her only two minutes to decipher the code on the note: [Staav University, Archives, No. 004].
âArchives, No. 004?â.
What does that mean?
Nora didnât have time to look anything up. She threw the metal box under the bed, tore up the memo, went to the bathroom and flushed it down the toilet.
Later, as Justinâs fiancée, Nora helped at the wake while the three children played in the villa.
Fatty even spied on them from the doorway. When she discovered that the three were playing, she immediately shouted, âWhy arenât they crying if their father is dead?â Cherry was furious. âItâs you who has a dead father! Itâs impossible for daddy to die!â
Fatty scoffed, âWhy not, theyâre watching over your father right now! Heâs dead! And heâs not coming back! All three of you are fatherless children from now on!â
Right after saying that, Xander reached into his pocket and suddenly pulled out a slingshot. Then, he picked up a small rock, aimed it at Fatty and fired.
Tap!
The small stone hit Fattyâs mouth with precision, making his lip bleed.
Immediately, Fatty burst into tears and ran away. âBoo, the three of you are helping each other and bullying me!â
Cherry: ââ¦â
Xander: ââ¦â
Pete: ââ¦â

Three days later, they buried the body in the cemetery.
The dead were gone and the living had to look forward.
At the wake, no one dared to make things difficult for Nora because Ian and Joel stayed with her the whole time, never leaving her side for a moment. This also prevented Nora from having the opportunity to find out what the number 004 in the Staav University archives was.
It wasnât until three days later, after everyone had finally dispersed, that she secretly went online and hacked into the Staav University files.
It was only logical that, in this age of e-learning, all the files would have been digitized for convenient review later. However, when Nora typed in the search term [No. 004], a red error text appeared on the web page: [There are no records for the file you are trying to access].
Nora frowned.
When she was abroad, she had majored in medicine, so she was very familiar with the quirks of some schools. Often, schools did not upload information about what subjects they excelled in and other top-secret data to their electronic database. This was to prevent the information from becoming public.
Well, that made sense. Given how mysterious V16 was, why would they digitize information about her and make it so that she, a hacker, could steal the formula whenever she wanted?
Nora rested her chin on her hand and let out a quiet sigh. It looked like she would have to take a trip to Staav University.
But⦠How was she going to head there discreetly and with little noise?
If she approached so hastily, she would undoubtedly attract the attention of the people following her.
Although the man in black had diverted the attention of many people, she was not to be careless in her actions.
That night, Nora could not sleep a wink as she thought about how she could go to Staav University in Switzerland without anyone noticing.
At ten oâclock the next day, she was awakened by an unknown number. When Nora answered the phone grumpily, a voice came on the other end.
âMiss Smith, there is a routine board meeting today. Youâre the only one who hasnât arrived yet â may I know how much more time youâll need before you get there? Is there a traffic jam?â
Nora: â???â
What board meeting was this guy talking about?
Since she didnât speak, the other party continued. âMiss Smith? Y-you sure you havenât forgotten, have you? I told you yesterday at theâ¦since youâre taking over the Hunt Corporation, youâll have to come and have a chat with the directors, whatever it takes.â
Nora finally remembered now. Indeed, someone had mentioned it.
Before she could answer, Rogerâs voice was heard from the other end of the call.
âHasnât my sister-in-law arrived yet? Nora has always tended to sleep more, and she always sleeps until noon at home. Justin spoils her quite a bit tooâ¦youâll all have to get used to it.â
As soon as he said that, some shareholders became upset. One of them said, âThis is a board meeting! Doesnât she care? Sheâs too carefree! Will the Hunt Corporation be okay if we get such a lazy person as president?â
âYes, itâs too unobliging for her to still be sleeping even at this hour!â
Roger let out another sigh. â⦠Calm down everyone. Sheâs just a young girl after all, sheâs not as rough and rugged as us men. Itâs okay even if she sleeps a little longer than most.â
Nora: ââ¦â
This hypocritical way of talkingâ¦. I really had just witnessed the male version of a bitch!
It might have seemed like he was speaking for her, but his every word was sowing discord between her and the others!
Nora took a deep breath and said, âI didnât forget, Iâm in a traffic jam!â.
âA traffic jam?â
Roger laughed. âNora, you sure know how to make excuses, donât you? Since you say youâre in a traffic jam, that means youâre already on your way, right? How long will it take you to get there?â
âI estimate the traffic jam will last half an hour.â
â⦠So, half an hour from now, are you going to say that the traffic jam will continue for another half hour, Nora? After all, this place is quite far from Hunt Manor, So it will take you at least an hour to get there! If so, why donât we leave first and let you take your time, can we postpone the board meeting from the morning to the afternoon?â
As soon as he said that, someone said, âI have a meeting with an important client in the afternoon! We have already agreed that the meeting will be held today, how can you suddenly change it?â
âThatâs right, itâs too irresponsible!â
Before the other party could say anything, Nora said, âIf I say Iâll be half an hour, then half an hour is how long Iâll be.â
Roger was aggressive. âWhat if youâre still not here in half an hour?â
âWeâll talk about that later. Iâm driving, Iâm hanging up.â
After giving him a terse answer, she was out of bed in a jiffy, quickly changed, brushed her teeth and headed downstairs.
Brenda followed close behind her, âNora, my men just told me something! Roger has been spreading rumors around the company about how lazy you are. Heâs even said that you must still be at home, so you wonât even be able to get there in an hourâ¦. Itâs too late even if youâre driving now!â
Nora got into the car and started it up. âWho says itâs too late?â
She started up with a whistle right after she spoke.
As Brenda looked at the dust kicked up by the car, she let out a quiet sigh.
Nora had really been too careless this time.
How could she say she would be at the company in half an hour?
It didnât matter, it would take anyone an hour to get to the office from the mansion. It wasnât like she was a runner .
