When Will heard this, he was silent for a moment.
Irene had a brain tumor and had just had surgery. She was still in a state of recovery and looked much thinner than before. The flesh on her face had sagged.
Looking at his wife and remembering how bright and beautiful she had been in the past, Will sighed.
Ever since it had been revealed that Henry was not Noraâs biological father, Irene had been in a constant state of anxiety. What she said most every day was, ââ¦How could my brother be so shameless? Everything of the Smithsâ should belong to Nora! How could he be like this! He took the money Noraâs mother had left, then raised his wife and daughter, but he didnât care if Nora lived or diedâ¦â
âHe owes Nora too much.â
âHe owes Nora his whole life.â
She hated Henry very much, but a few days ago the news of Henryâs death had reached them. When Irene heard it, she was stunned.
At that moment, Will thought Irene would be very sad. Unexpectedly, he was only silent for a moment before he sighed. âThis is your retribution!â
She seemed very calm, but from that day on, she couldnât sleep at night. One day, Will woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. He saw Irene standing on the balcony muttering to herself, âHenry, why did you leave like that? You canât pay what you owe Nora for the rest of your life. Even when youâre gone, you take your debt with youâ¦â
Irene was getting thinner every day.
Will meant that he had used Ireneâs dowry for his capital and that it was he who had been managing the company bit by bit.
They could then repay Nora double the initial capital. They could also leave their savings for retirement.
However, seeing the way his wife looked and how she spent her days guiltilyâ¦. He had seen her pick up the phone several times and enter Noraâs number, but he could never bring himself to call her.
Will sighed and lowered his head suddenly. âOkay, Iâll hear you out.â
He looked at the goons and said, âIâll turn the company over to them!â.
Nora, who was in the car, frowned.
She had her hand on the doorknob. Just as she was about to get out of the car, Justin suddenly grabbed her hand and said softly, âWait a little longer.â
Nora ââ¦â
The moment she looked at Justin, she suddenly realized!
These thugs had not been hired by either Nora or Justin. So who had hired them? What was their motive?
He narrowed his eyes.
Sure enough, the conversation continued.
After Will said this, the goons stood up. âOkay, Iâll have someone deliver the contract immediately.â
Will helped Irene up.
However, before they entered the building, the thugs behind them shouted, âWait!â.
Irene turned around.
The leader of the thugs smiled. âMiss Smith said that when she got married years ago, in addition to some money, there were also some books and jewelry. Miss Smithâs mother left them all, give it to us now!â
Hearing this, Irene pursed her lips.
In the car, Nora and Justin also understood that those people were indeed here for Yvetteâs belongings.
The two then got out of the car. Nora shouted directly, âWait a minute.â
At the sound of her voice, Ireneâs body shuddered and she suddenly turned around.
She looked at Nora in disbelief.
Even Will was surprised and looked her way.
They both looked directly at her. They hadnât expected Nora to come here.
Actually, they all knew that those thugs were not Noraâs.
It was because they had clearly stated that they were under Lord Huntâs orders. Nora would not be so ruthless with them.
It was just like how she had treated Irene back then.
However, Irene did not want to call Nora. She felt that if Mr. Hunt had come to ask for her, she should give it to him.
Besides, she owed it to Nora.
While she was in a daze, Nora had already come to Ireneâs side and spoke softly to her, âIrene.â
Hearing this, Ireneâs eyes turned red.
Nora was still willing to acknowledge her. This meant that Nora had never blamed her.
She took Noraâs hand. âYouâve come at just the right time. Take those things away.â
Nora frowned and was about to speak when a thug shouted impatiently, âWhat will you take? Donât you understand? Those things are ours. They have to give them to us.â
Nora narrowed her eyes and looked at them coldly. âWho do they think they are?â
To be honest, it hurt her heart to see her auntâs haggard appearance.
She should have gone back earlier to see her. According to her auntâs kind and confrontational nature, she would definitely feel that she had let Nora down. However, Nora had been so busy with Xander that she had forgotten all about it and ended up forgetting her aunt. Because of that, Irene had lived with the guilt for so long.
Nora was a little angry.
When the bullies heard this, they scoffed. âYoung lady, you are very young. I advise you to mind your own business. Let me tell you, we are from the Hunts.â
Nora narrowed her eyes.
The bully continued, âAre you familiar with the Huntâs of New York? Thereâs been a lot of talk lately about the fight for the throne. Unfortunately, the one who lost was Herman. Mr. Hunt is impressive! He can win even against his own father. He doesnât care about you.â
When Justin heard this, he stepped forward and asked, âWho ordered them to do this?â
The bully sneered. âWho are you, canât you see that no one in town dares to interfere? What are you two doing here? Why should I tell you who assigned me this mission? All you have to know is that this is all Lord Huntâs wish.â
Irene had never seen Justin, so she didnât know him.
When she saw him now, she looked at Nora in confusion.
Nora was about to explain something to him when the thug became impatient. He took a step forward and held Will. âWill, the contract is here. Hurry up, sign it and weâll leave.â
Since Nora was here, how could Will sign it?
He said, âIâm not signing this contract. Iâ¦â. when he was about to say that he would deliver the Blackâs and Yvetteâs things to Nora⦠the bully got too anxious. He interrupted him and shouted angrily, âArenât you going to sign it? I bet you wonât cry until you see the coffin! Since thatâs the way it is, donât blame us for being heartless!â.
With that, he waved his hand and someone rushed forward.
Justin blocked the three of them. Seeing their strong aura, the thug said, âBrother, I advise you not to interfere in Mr. Huntâs business!â
