Iris paused for a moment as she listened to Mrs. Landis. Then, she said to Matthew, âGive me a day. Tell me about the symptoms of the Ghost Orchids, or take a picture and send it. Iâll⦠Iâll find someone to take a look at it!â.
Matthew was surprised. âYou really have a solution?â
Iris sighed. âI recently met a young friend who is very skilled in orchid treatment, Iâll go ask her advice. You can give the orchids to Lauren later if my friend canât cure them.â
Matthew knew of the dispute between Iris and Lauren. Hearing this, he was quiet for only a second before he said, âOkay! Madame Iris, weâve been taking care of the Orchids for a long time, so I trust you and Iâm willing to give you a chance. If it werenât for the Phantom Orchids, I wouldnât have broken our agreement. But if you canât resolve the matter by tomorrow, then you canât keep throwing that in my face.â
Iris nodded. âI understand.â
People who really loved orchids considered flowers their life. Matthew was one of the best gardeners in the industry, and the Phantom Orchids were his very life, so she could understand why he did what he did.
After hanging up the phone, Matthew told her the symptoms of the orchids. He was very detailed in the description; after all, he had gained a lot of experience after growing flowers for so long. He included details about what he had done to the flowers in the past, the soil he had planted them in, etc.
Iris stared at the description for a while before lifting her head and looking at Mrs. Landis. âThat pot of Phantom Orchids has indeed encountered quite a difficult problem. Iâm afraid even Orchidiance would find that pot of flowers rather difficult to save. In that case, letâs bet!â
Mrs. Landis was a little taken aback. âWhat bet?â
Iris took a deep breath. âA wager on my fate. If Nora can save this pot of flowers, then that pot of Jade Orchids will be mine. What is meant to be mine will definitely be mine.â
Mrs. Landis did not understand what he was implying. She nodded and said, âOf course!â.
She didnât know that Iris had made up her mind that instant.
If Nora managed to save that pot of orchids, then she would have practically performed a miracle.
If so, then she would tell them the truth about what had happened then.
She didnât want to give the younger generation any trouble, but her blood ties to her son were there. There was one thing Lauren had been right about: Chery liked his grandmother.
She could cruelly push Justin away when she was young, but now that she had gotten on in years, she was no longer as bold and determined as when she was young.
She also longed for the comforting and kind moments of being with Cherry and the others.
With this in mind, Iris pulled out her phone and texted Nora. First, she sent Nora the symptoms of Matthewâs orchids, and then sent her another line, âCan you take a look and see if you can save this pot of flowers for me?â

Nora was currently at the Andersonâs house and was looking for something in her motherâs room.
Despite the unexpected incident at Irisâs house, and Hermanâs return, Nora hadnât forgotten what she was most concerned about now.
Her mother had left her information about the whereabouts of V16, but she wasnât able to find it. When she thought of Xander still being ill, she was filled with impatience and irritability.
Mrs. Anderson was standing in the doorway. As she watched her pacing the study, she asked, âNora, what are you looking for?â
Nora asked, âGrandma, did my mother leave anything important behind?â
Mrs. Anderson nodded. âYes, of course!â
Nora looked up suddenly. âWhat did she leave behind? Show me.â
As soon as she said that, Mrs. Anderson smiled softly and kindly at her, all the wrinkles in her face tightening. She said, âHe left you! Youâre the best gift he left the world.â
Nora: ââ¦â
The corners of her lips tightened and she sighed quietly. âOkay, Grandma, Iâll get it myself!â.
She was about to pull out the dust-covered things under the bed and flip through them when suddenly her phone beeped.
She picked it up and saw the messages Iris had sent her:
[Can you take a look and see if you can save this pot of flowers for me?
If you can, Iâll tell you a story].
Tell her a story?
Iris was finally going to reveal her troubles? A touch of joy shone in Noraâs eyes and she immediately replied: [Iâll come and see you right now].
