Xander hid behind the door and secretly watched Justin.
He saw that the man was frowning, seemingly preoccupied. The man seemed to be thinking, and as he did so, he kept touching his nose.
Xanderâs hand, which was also touching his nose, stopped. He blinked and lowered his hand.
Before coming, he had wanted to tell the tyrant about his birthday and also wanted him to publicly announce that Xander was also Justinâs son that day.
But after he arrived, he was a little afraid to go inside.
What if Daddy Tyrant refused to celebrate his birthday for him even after he told him about his birthday?
He spent too much time thinking about it. Suddenly, he heard a commotion coming from far away. Xander turned around to see that the group of rude kids that had just left had returned.
Only this time, they had also brought their parents with them.
Jack Hunt, the leader of the group and the boy whose ear Xander had bitten off, was crying. His eyes had turned completely red. He took his motherâs hand as he approached. His ear had not yet been bandaged. Although it was no longer bleeding, the wound still looked shocking.
As soon as she got close, Jack pointed at Xander and whined, âMom, thatâs him! Heâs the one who bit my ear.â
Jack was a child of the Huntsâ side family. His family had joined the main family and he depended on them for a living.
So Jackâs mother could also be considered someone from a wealthy and prestigious family. She looked directly at Xander, her finger almost digging into his face as she demanded, âWhatâs wrong with you, boy? What makes you think you can bully my son? Canât you talk it right with them? Did you have to bite him? Are you a dog?â
His voice was quite loud, which made everyone around look.
Since they were at the door of Justinâs study, Justin heard the commotion as well. He opened the door.
When Jackâs mother saw Justin, she immediately burst into tears. She said, âJustin, look! That little boy almost bit Jackâs ear off. Heâs too aggressive!â
She cried and said, âMy little Jack has always been a sensitive boy. Since heâs a few years older, Iâve always told him to give in to Pete and keep him happy; after all, Pete is still young. But how can this little devil be so naughty? How can he be so quick to bite other people? Itâs too much.â
Justin frowned and looked at Xander.
He had had relatively little contact with Xander during this period, so he didnât really know what the boy was like.
However, a child that Trueman had raised would certainly be somewhat unorthodox.
What stands out most is the moment he first arrived at Hunt Manor. When the bodyguard tried to take a sample of his DNA, the boy had bitten the bodyguardâs hand and nearly broke it.
After that, his personality and manner became even more unpredictable.
But when Justin questioned Ruth, he realized that Ruth had abused the boy before. That must be how Xander had developed such a vicious and cruel personality despite his young age.
He narrowed his eyes and looked at Xander. âDid you bite him?â he asked.
Xanderâs eyes widened.
He looked at Jackâs mother and then at Justin.
The other boyâs mother had stood up for her son right away when something went wrong, but what about his Tyrant dad?
Xander was suddenly angry.
He clenched his jaw, lifted his chin and nodded stubbornly. âYes, I did.â
What he hated the most was being scorned.
Thatâs why, after speaking, he even smiled at Jack and said, âHa, youâre already ten years old while Iâm only five, and yet you canât beat me in a fight. Thatâs embarrassing enough, but you even ran to your mommy just because you couldnât beat me? What kind of man are you!â
Jack: â!!!â
Being ridiculed, he felt even more aggrieved. He hugged his mother immediately and burst into tears.
Jackâs motherâs eyes reddened. âYouâve seen it, havenât you, Justin? That boy is simply too arrogant, his upbringing is horrible! He shows no sign of remorse. Justin, you have to stand up for Jack! Theyâre all sons of the Hunts. Even if heâs the son of the head of the family, he canât bully others so nonchalantly!â
Justin narrowed his eyes and looked at Xander. âWhat exactly is going on?â he asked.
He didnât know what had happened. Even if he was prejudiced against the boy, he couldnât so easily assume Xander was wrong.
But he was asking the wrong person.
If it were Pete, Pete would think his father was asking him about what had happened, then he would explain everything clearly and truthfully.
But the one he was asking was, instead, Xander?
The boy was sensitive. Without the love and care of a mother, he had grown up relying only on himself. When he ran into trouble, all he knew was to carry everything by himself.
Justinâs question broke his heart.
To think he didnât trust him.
Ha, whatâs the use of having a father like that?
His gaze turned cold at once. The little boy scoffed and ignored Justin. Instead, he looked straight at Jack. âYeah, I bullied you, so what, you didnât ask for it? This time itâs your ear, but next time? Heh!â
Jack was so startled that he took a step back.
Xander immediately became cocky.
However, Jackâs mother stood right in front of Jack. She pointed at him and yelled, âYou really are a wild child from who knows where! You have no manners whatsoever!â
Xander folded his arms. âWhat are manners? After all, I donât have a mother. Although I do have a father, heâs also pretty non-existent. With no one to teach me, how am I supposed to have manners? If I look like an eyesore to you, why donât you hit me? But you dare to do that? Iâm Justinâs son, you know that! If you have the guts, then just slap me on the cheek instead of yapping around forever.â
The boyâs attitude caused Justinâs expression to darken.
Xander was simply too arrogant and domineering. There was no trace of Peteâs temperament in him. His expression turned cold and he said, âXander, Iâll give you one more chance. Tell me what exactly happened.â
âWhat happened, isnât it a lot? Itâs just what you saw. I, your son, bullied someone What, you want to hit me too?â
Xander said stubbornly, âWhat gives you the right to lecture me, have you ever educated me?â
Justin clenched his jaw. Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes and said, âArenât you living in Hunt Manor right now?â
His comment made Xander even more sensitive.
He looked at Justin angrily.
What Jack and the other kids had just said echoed in his ears: ââ¦Uncle Justin is having the birthday party so he can introduce Cherry to everyone! Who do you think you are, youâre nothing but an illegitimate child! Uncle Justin has never thought of recognizing you as his sonâ.
And boy, has he!
He must be trying to push him away!
Xander clenched his fists and scoffed, âReally? But Iâm not living at Hunt Manor because you begged my dad to send me here?â
Seeing how stubborn he was and that he simply refused to tell him anything, the big, tall Justin slowly squatted down. He said, âXander, I hope you can talk to me if you run into trouble. Donât learn from Truemanâ¦â
But before he could finish, Xander slapped him and then stepped back. âWhat have I learned from him? My father was the one who raised me, So surely Iâd be just like him! I was born a bad person! You really want to get rid of a son like me, donât you? I donât want a father like you either! I didnât want to come back here at all! Itâs all because you used Aunt Ruth to force me to come back here! If you find me annoying, why donât you send me back! In my heart, my only father is Trueman Yale!â
After saying those extreme things, Xander stared at Justin stubbornly.
Justin: ââ¦â
He fell silent.
With Xander behaving like this, he suddenly didnât know how to communicate with him.
Instead, he stood up again and looked at Jackâs mother.
Jackâs mother shouted, âYou saw that, didnât you, Justin? Having a child like him in the house scares the hell out of me. If he can bite my son today, he can bite someone else tomorrow. Weâre not part of the main family, so I can take it. But what if he bites Pete?â
Justin frowned. Then the woman added, âWhat if he bites Cherry?â
That one sentence from her made Justinâs gaze turn cold.
Fights between kids werenât a big deal, but if it was Cherry? He looked directly at Xander. âNo matter what the reason, youâre not allowed to bite anyone in the future!â.
Xander gave him an angry look. âHeh, how can the son of a dog not bite?â.
His words made Justin scowl again. âXander Yale!â
Xander stood there, stubborn, his facial expression tense.
Jackâs mother sighed. âDonât ask him about it anymore, Justin. I already heard what happened. Jack came to visit Pete and play with him, but Xander saw him. He rushed over immediately and said heâs your son too, so he has a right to order them around too. He wanted Jack to play with him, but Jack refused, so he bit himâ¦â
Justin narrowed his eyes. He stared at Xander and asked once more, âIs that what happened?â
He wanted to know the truth.
The boy was still young. Some habits could be corrected. Who Trueman had led astray could also be forced back onto the right path.
Xander did not speak, however.
Jackâs mother suddenly turned to look somewhere. Seeing something, she immediately said, âJustin, even if you donât believe us, you donât believe Pete? Pete, quick, come here and tell your father what just happened, did Xander bully Jack?â
Hearing this, Justin looked away to see that Pete and Cherry had also heard the commotion and were approaching.
As they approached, Justin looked directly at Pete and asked, âIs that what happened?â
He trusted Pete.
Because he had raised him.
Jackâs mother was relieved. Pete had never been a kind and sweet fool. Rather, he was very smart. He understood the power of these schemes and conspiracies very well.
Besides, Jack had said that Pete wanted to drive Xander away â wasnât this just a great opportunity for him to do just that?
Therefore, as long as Pete wasnât stupid, he would know what to say. By virtue of the incident, Jack might as well hold on to Pete. When they grew up, their life at the Hunts would get better too!
Jackâs mother made beautiful plans in her mind and looked at Pete expectantly.
