Chapter 633

Nora1,568 words~8 min read

Nora was taken aback.

To be honest, ever since Trueman had released Xander, she had wondered if Caleb knew anything. However, she hadn’t taken the initiative to ask him.

Caleb had returned to the mysterious organization with the sacred mission of the special department on his shoulders. He was not to bother him with his personal affairs, lest Caleb’s identity be exposed while he was investigating them.

Therefore, she had never asked him about it, planning to investigate it herself.

Besides, Lily was already comparing his DNA and would succeed sooner or later. It was only a matter of time.

But, unexpectedly, Caleb had taken the initiative to call her….

A pang of gratitude rose from the bottom of Nora’s heart, and she asked, “What’s the truth?”

Caleb’s voice was very low; evidently, he was making the call in secret. “According to my research, that boy has been hidden by Trueman at headquarters all this time, so I had never seen him. But when Trueman was talking to him on the phone, he accidentally let something slip. He told Xander to do everything he could to save his Aunt Ruth, but the boy instead said, ‘Why? She didn’t give birth to me or take care of me. Am I supposed to save her just because she’s your sister?’ Trueman then said, ‘Then at least make sure she doesn’t die.’ Xander agreed and then said, ‘Don’t worry, I won’t tell on her. At least, in my biological father’s eyes, Aunt Ruth is my mother.’

So, based on this, I would think that Ruth is not his mother.”

Nora looked down.

To be honest, she had already guessed. Ruth and Xander’s DNA was only a 20% match. Even if Xander had been injected with the genetic serum, modifying his genes, it was still impossible for his DNA to change so drastically.

Therefore, at the very least, it was impossible for Ruth to be his mother.

Now that Caleb had confirmed it, they could get rid of Ruth first!

Anyway, Trueman didn’t seem to care much if his sister lived or not.

With that in mind, Nora thanked Caleb over the phone. “Thank you. I’ll buy you dinner when you get back.”

“Okay.” Caleb’s voice became much more relaxed. After a brief silence, he suddenly said, “Nora…. Miss Smith, may I call you that?”.

“… Yes, you may.”

She had already done that anyway, could she say no?

The corners of her lips tightened a little. Then, she heard Caleb speak again. He said, “Nora, I’m so sorry I didn’t keep Anthony in line then, and ended up allowing him to humiliate you and call off the engagement.”

“… You already apologized for that.”

Caleb laughed, his voice soft and honeyed. “I’d like to apologize for it again.”

“… Okay, then.”

Nora yawned. She sounded relaxed as she said, “I’ve already forgiven the Grays.”

To be honest, she had never hated the Grays.

Even though Anthony had belittled, ridiculed, and made fun of her all the time when she was fat, at that moment the only thing on her mind was sleep, so why should she take it to heart?

She said into the phone, “It sounds like your cough has gotten a little better. I made some more medicine and wanted to give it to you, but I didn’t expect you to leave sooner.”

Caleb laughed. A while later, he suggested, “Why don’t you send it to me by international mail, then.”

Nora raised her eyebrows and replied, “Sure.”

After hanging up the phone, Caleb, who was sitting alone in a lavishly decorated room overseas, stared straight ahead.

Suddenly he muttered, “I wonder if he’ll visit me since I’ve given him the address.” After all, he didn’t have long to live. He really wanted Nora to visit him before he died.

Unfortunately, he was completely unaware that such indirect methods were totally ineffective with an insensitive person like Nora.

In the United States, Nora didn’t even look at the address. She sent it directly to Sheril and told her to mail the medicine. Then she let the Stewarts know she was leaving and went back to the Smiths’ house.

No sooner had she arrived at the Smiths’ house than she received a text message from Justin: “I heard about the incident with the Livingstones. Do you want me to warn them?”

One word from Justin could scare Thomas and his mother.

When Nora saw his message, she called him immediately. She asked him, “Have you given them a warning yet?”

The man’s voice was very low. He laughed and replied, “No, not yet. Didn’t I just ask you for instructions a moment ago?”

Nora liked that he didn’t take liberty to act on his own in everything he did. At least, if Justin had warned the Livingstones, perhaps Helen could no longer divorce him.

She smiled and said, “No, you don’t need to warn them. We already have a plan. But if I make the Livingstones fall into disgrace, will you be putting yourself in a bind, Mr. Hunt?”

To be honest, I would actually be in a bind.

After all, Elder Mrs. Hunt would come crying to him.

But as Nora had asked, then the answer could only be, “No, it won’t be like that.”

Thomas was Elder Mrs. Hunt’s great-nephew. By rights, now that Elder Mrs. Hunt’s immediate family members were gone, the people of Mrs. Livingstone’s generation should be the only ones still in contact with her. And once Elder Mrs. Hunt was gone as well, the two families would no longer have any relationship with each other. However, Elder Mrs. Hunt cared for her maiden family, and besides, Thomas was always visiting. This was how she had forcibly made it appear that the two families shared a close relationship with each other.

For Elder Mrs. Hunt’s sake, Justin was also willing to take a little care of the Livingstones. However, that was all just charity on his part.

Since the Livingstones were blind enough to offend Nora, he didn’t need to worry about such things anymore. Justin was very clear about who he cared about and who he needed to be mindful of.

However, he still needed to ask for the credit that was due him.

Justin said bluntly, “Even if Grandma hits me with a bat, I won’t be put on the spot.”

Nora: “…”

Now that he thought about it, it seemed that Justin also had it pretty tough being caught between her and Elder Mrs. Hunt. Fortunately, he still opted to firmly take her side.

Satisfied, Nora uttered, “Yes.”

Justin took the opportunity to make a request. He said, “So, are you still coming to the Hunt’s tomorrow? You were in such a hurry today that I didn’t even have time to show you around the house, especially…I intend to make my villa our home after marriage. Do you want to give your opinion on the renovations?”

Nora thought for a while and replied, “I have only one request.”

“Which one?”

“The bed has to be comfortable.”

Justin also knew that was the only thing she would ask for. He laughed and said, “Of course, it has to be comfortable. After all, if the bed isn’t sturdy enough, I’m afraid it won’t be able to support both of us when…”

Nora: “?”

Weren’t they chatting? Why was the man making innuendoes all of a sudden? She rolled her eyes. “When what?”

“Don’t think too much, I was talking about when we fight in it. Didn’t you say so yourself, Big Sister? You’re going to hit me every time you see me…”

Nora: “!”

She suddenly felt her fists stinging. “Tsk, Big Brother, I suddenly feel that married life won’t be so boring anymore. We can train every day. This way, we can even get some exercise.”

Justin: “…”

That wasn’t the kind of exercise he wanted!

He said, “Why don’t you come over tomorrow and we’ll make a selection for the master bedroom? Cherry and Pete haven’t been to the Hunts in a long time too.”

“… Okay.”

Nora agreed. She wondered what kind of sparks would fly between the three kids once Cherry and Pete met Xander?

She raised her eyebrows and tried for a while to picture the three of them together, but she just couldn’t. Finally, he shook his head and said, “By the way, Ruth is not Xander’s mother.”

When Justin heard this, his pupils shrank. “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Nora replied.

The two chatted some more before hanging up.

Justin sat in the den and thought about what Nora had just said. Suddenly, he stood up and headed for the basement.

He emitted a bloodthirsty murderous intent all over the place.

He had been worried that Ruth might really be Xander’s mother, which was why he hadn’t gotten rid of her. But now that he knew the truth…heh.

He went downstairs. When he reached the basement, he found the butler standing guard at the door.

As Justin approached, he noticed that Xander was there too.

He was squatting on the floor and chatting with Ruth as he watched her.

However, rather than say they were chatting, it looked like Xander was teasing Ruth. The little guy’s chin rested on his hands as he looked at Ruth and chattered.

What he said, however, perplexed Justin.
