Ruthâs pupils constricted as a nervous expression came over her face.
After finding out that Nora was Black Cat, she was a mess. Thatâs why she said so many things in a whisper. However, she didnât expect Justin to still remember what had happened then.
Justin stared at the panic that crossed her eyes and scoffed. He stepped back and said to Nora, âNora, it looks like Iâll have to bother you again.â
In other words, Ruth was still lying and needed Black Cat to question her.
Nora flicked her wrist. âNo problem.â
She pressed Ruthâs arm. The next moment, a silver needle was inserted into one of her acupuncture points. A sharp pain instantly enveloped her.
Ruth felt as if her whole body was about to tear apart. All the pain was concentrated at that point, causing her to have an intense desire to rip that piece of flesh off.
It hurt.
It hurt too much.
He had never experienced such intense pain.
âAhh!â
A high-pitched scream was heard. Then, she saw Nora pick up the scalpel again and was about to stab her body. Ruth screamed, âI told you that no matter what you do to me, my brother will take his revenge on that child!â
These words made Nora stop.
She stared at Ruth and saw that her forehead was already covered with cold sweat from the pain. Her hair was wet as she looked at Justin fiercely. âHeâs your son, you really donât care about your own son?â
Justin frowned. âYouâre full of lies. We had no relationship back then, but you made it sound like it was true. Do you think Iâd still believe you?â
Ruth bit her lip. âDonât forget that I drugged you then. It was easy for me to get pregnant with your child. Even if everything else is a lie, the child is real!!! I swear it! Your child is in my brotherâs hands! If you dare to let Black Cat interrogate me again, Your child will suffer the same pain!â Justin was stunned.
Seeing that he finally hesitated, Ruth then looked at Nora. âI also gave birth to a child for him. Now, you have no advantage!â
Nora pursed her lips and took off her gloves suddenly. âHow boring.â
She walked out of the interrogation room after saying those cold words.
Justin hurried after her. When she saw the two of them leave, Ruth finally sighed with relief. At the same time, an unprecedented pleasure surged in her heart. She had said it before. No woman could resist such jealousy.
At the mention of the child, Nora finally couldnât take it anymore, could she?
Nora had a cold expression. She walked from the basement to the living room. Justin followed her. His tone and demeanor were hesitant. He wanted to explain himself, but didnât know what to say.
At that moment, Nora suddenly stopped. âWhat you said about the boy must be true.â
Justinâs pupils shrank.
He pursed his lips and organized his words before saying, âI have no memory of that night. I only lied to her before she immediately exposed herself. That woman is full of lies. Her words cannot be trusted.â
However, Nora narrowed her eyes. âShe is very clever. Her words are 80% true and 20% false. You canât tell them apart. However, even though the needle I put in her earlier hurts, I could judge her words and her blood flow, as well as her heart rate. When he mentioned the child, he didnât seem to be lying.â Justin brightened. âSo you pretended to be jealous and paused the interrogation?â
Nora rolled her eyes.
She wanted to say she wasnât pretending to be jealous, but she couldnât say it. Instead, she said, âIâm worried that you might have a tracking chip in your body. My methods of torture are a bit cruel. If what he said is true, what if the shameless and immoral Trueman really tortures that child?â
Nora was worried about that child who might not really exist!
Even if that was Ruth and Justinâs child, she couldnât bear to hurt him!
Maybe it was because she had felt guilty towards her son since he was little. When he was abroad, he had interacted with many children. He had even gone to places like Africa and seen some starving children who couldnât even eat properly.
He couldnât ignore the life of a five-year-old.
You could say that was his one weakness in life.
Not to mention that child was Justinâs son, but even if he was a stranger, she would still have a soft heart.
Nora knew her own weakness, so she simply backed off the questioning. She already knew most of the things she needed to know anyway.
Next, it was Justinâs turn.
Justin knew Nora was avoiding suspicion, but looking at her like this, he suddenly felt a pang of indescribable guilt.
He really did have a child with someone else?
Nora would definitely care, wouldnât she?
He looked down and said, âYes, leave the rest to me.â
Nora nodded and turned to leave.
Before she could leave, however, Justin suddenly called out to her, âNora.â Nora turned.
Justin suddenly sighed. âDonât worry, Iâm sure Iâll give you an explanation.â
Nora was a little taken aback. Then, she nodded. âI trust you.â
She had always been the type of person who either didnât love or completely believed the other person if she did. She no longer hid her multiple identities from Justin.
When Nora left, Justin returned to the basement.
His gentleness and love from before were gone, then he gave off a bloodthirsty aura. When he entered, everyone in the basement lowered their heads. Sensing his aura, they dared not speak.
Justin approached Ruth and asked in a gravelly voice, âWhere is that child?â
Ruth bit her lips. She felt a terrifying pressure coming from him. It was even more terrifying than when she learned that Nora was Black Cat. He replied, âSheâs with my brother.â
Justin lowered his eyes. âWhatâs the boyâs name?â
âXander Yale.â
Ruth continued, âHeâs taken my last name.â
Justin did not pursue this matter further. Instead, he stood up and looked at her. âGet someone to bring the boy here. Then I can let you go. A life for a life.â
Ruthâs pupils contracted. âNo wayâ¦â
The child was her bargaining chip. How could she hand the child over to him so easily?
Before she could finish speaking, however, a hand as hard as steel grabbed her neck. It was as if he was going to break her neck the next second.
