Lawrence and two bodyguards stood behind Ruth.

Justin was sitting on the couch with a cold expression and a strong aura. At first glance, he reminded Nora of the first time she had met this man in California.

Only at times like this could Nora see clearly that this man had noble status. When he was not in front of her, the man’s expression was haughty and powerful. His whole body gave off an unapproachable aura.

He would not allow himself to be disturbed by Ruth and would only lower his head to handle the documents.

In contrast, Lawrence was addressing Ruth. “Miss Ruth, don’t complicate things. Over the years, no one has been able to keep anything from us…”

Ruth didn’t want to bother with him at all and said directly to Justin, “Mr. Hunt, it’s no use ignoring me like this. Aren’t you afraid of public opinion? If I disappear out of nowhere, I’m afraid the outside world will start talking about you silencing me.”

Justin turned a page of the document, took out a pen and signed it.

Lawrence, however, said, “Tsk, Miss Ruth, you’re underestimating the Hunts too much, aren’t you? You think a battle of public opinion will matter to us? You think you can publish whatever news you please around them?”

Ruth was stunned.

She looked at Lawrence and saw the strong confidence coming from this assistant. It was as if such things were nothing to him.

She bit her lip. “Shut up! I’m talking to Mr. Hunt – how can you interrupt?”

Lawrence lifted his chin and sneered. “Miss Ruth, you need to know that I’m only here to talk to you because I’m bored. Do you think you’d otherwise have a chance to talk to me?”

As Justin’s special assistant, Lawrence’s words carried a lot of weight in New York.

Ordinary people would have to rack their brains if they wanted a chance to talk to him. He was very proud and aloof.

Ruth was furious. “Who do you think you are, do you know who I am, you can’t afford to offend me.”

Lawrence sneered. “Who are you?” Ruth wanted to say something, but calmed down. “You want to get information out of me? I won’t say anything…” Then she looked at Justin again and said, “Mr. Hunt, I suggest you let me go. We’re going to have a good talk. Otherwise, my people will call the police if I’m missing for 24 hours!”.

Lawrence: “Gosh, I’m so scared!” He pursed his lips. “Who do you think the Hunts are? Even if your people call the police, can they set foot on our property without any proof?”

Ruth frowned. “You…”

Lawrence squatted down. “Then I suggest you speak calmly. After all, we don’t want to kill women either.”

Ruth spat and spittle spattered Lawrence’s face. “From the moment I dared to come, I had no fear of torture. Besides, you can’t torture me! If I lose so much as a lock of hair, I guarantee you Mr. Hunt will be very sorry!”

Lawrence frowned.

He didn’t know where Ruth’s confidence was coming from, but to be sure, he kept looking at Justin.

At that moment, Justin finally put the document down. He slowly raised his head, but his gaze passed over Ruth and went straight to Nora. Then, he stood up.

He was still acting very cold and distant, but now, a smile suddenly appeared on his face. She walked up to Nora and said, “You’re here!”.

Nora nodded calmly and then turned her gaze to Ruth.

Ruth didn’t seem to expect her to approach, but as soon as she saw her, she suddenly understood something. She looked back at Justin and frowned. “They teamed up to trick me!”

Nora and Justin couldn’t be bothered with her. Only Lawrence bothered to talk to her. “Of course. Have you noticed? Heh, Miss Smith and our Mr. Hunt can already talk just by looking at each other. How could they have been disturbed by you? Let me tell you, your affairs are nothing in Mr. Hunt’s eyes. Besides, Miss Smith is very magnanimous. She’s been set up before, so I’m sure you’re not going to complain about anything.”

As he spoke, Lawrence looked at Nora intently.

Nora: “…”

She turned to look at Justin and saw that he was sizing her up as well. It seemed that this person really cared about her opinion.

However…

If Justin really had slept with Ruth, it would be quite… unpleasant. He simply waved his hand and said to Lawrence, “Stop wasting time. Just interrupt her.”

Lawrence nodded instantly. Just as he was about to call someone to put her down, Ruth’s eyes widened and she gritted her teeth. She looked at Justin and shouted, “I slept with Mr. Hunt, do you really dare question me, do you dare touch me?”

All: “?”

Lawrence was stunned at the logic of his words. “Why can’t we interrogate you?”

Ruth looked at Justin. “Mr. Hunt, do you really dare? After all, we had a one-night stand – how could you treat me like this?”

Silence settled.

After a while, a grimace formed on Nora’s mouth. Her pretty face couldn’t help but tense slightly. She just sensed that this woman’s brain circuitry was damaged. She shook her head and scoffed, “You think you’re taping a television show?”

Ruth bit her lip. “You’re too brazen. Are you going to torture me? I’m a woman, do you call yourselves men?”

Lawrence: “…”

Nora waved her hand. “Forget it. Find a soundproof room. I’ll interrogate her.” Lawrence was stunned. “Miss Smith, will you do it?”

“Why, can’t I?” replied Nora. Lawrence glanced hurriedly at Justin and saw him nod. Then he said enthusiastically, “Of course you can do it!”

With that, he had the two bodyguards lead Ruth down to the basement.

The dark room in the basement was heavily soundproofed.

When they entered, Ruth was tied to a chair. Her posture was still calm. “I’ve already said you’ll only hear what I want to say. You will never know what I don’t mean.”

Lawrence also persuaded, “Miss Smith, why don’t we do it? After all, it’s not proper to let you do such a bloody thing, is it?”

Actually, he thought to himself, ‘Miss Smith, you can treat diseases, but can you interrogate people?’

However, he quickly realized that Miss Smith wasn’t here just to interrogate her. She just wanted to take the opportunity to hurt Ruth!

Gosh, the women! They were really mean. Even though they said they weren’t jealous, they really cared more than anyone else, didn’t they?

He wanted Miss Smith to enjoy herself. Later, he’d find an excuse to take her place and do it himself!
