A shiver ran through Sue when she heard his voice. Seeing that it was Karl entering, Sue remembered the terror she had felt being overpowered by him last time, and her legs turned to jelly.

Karl was dressed in a police uniform, which covered all his tattoos and gave him a very proper appearance. His simple and straightforward image did not change.

As he entered, Karl smiled at Tanya and said, “I’m back.”

Tanya’s eyes reddened.

Joel slipped his arm around her shoulders. After greeting his daughter, Karl finally looked at Sue. Recognizing her, he frowned and said with distaste, “You again?”

Sue swallowed hard. “No, it’s not me!”

Karl: “?”

Sue was so terrified that she didn’t dare speak. Instead, she said to Tanya and Joel, “I’ve got something to do, so I’m leaving now!”

Rushing out after speaking, seeing the police car parked outside the door, Sue became even more frightened and almost fell to the ground. She got into the car and immediately told the driver to leave quickly. When they reached the gates, she saw the butler giving instructions to his subordinates, “Quickly, lock the gates. If anyone comes and asks for us, tell them that you know nothing!”.

“Yes, sir!”

The butler sighed. “He even has the guts to steal a police car. Surely Mr. Moore hasn’t escaped from jail again, has he?”

Sue became even more frightened and dared not say anything more. She immediately urged the chauffeur to hurry up and drive back home.

But when he got home, the more Sue thought about it, the more afraid she became.

She said to Samuel, “People like Karl Moore are demons who kill without batting an eye. Do you think he’ll come to take revenge on me?”

Samuel was, surprisingly, relatively calm. He replied, “I know that family well. Although they seem cold and ruthless, they are reliable…. As long as you don’t provoke them, they won’t do anything to you.”

It seemed to Samuel that Ian was an eyesore, which is why he was always going against him. However, he had never harbored any thoughts of harming the Smiths.

Sue, however, said, “But I’ve already made an agreement with the other side. They will give the Smiths a chance to bid on the project and I will give them money. In this way, I will also become the Matriarch of the Smiths. With that, won’t all the Smiths’ little opportunities to make money in the future be ours?”

Samuel curved his lips in disdain. “Dream on. The Matriarch of the Smiths? You do dare to dream big. As stingy as Ian is, he’s got all the power in the family firmly in his grasp, okay? His word is absolute for the Smiths! Joel was personally instructed and groomed by him, do you think he’ll ever make you the Smith Matriarch, don’t even think about it!”

Seeing that even Samuel wasn’t cooperating with her, Sue became nervous. “Why are you acting like such a loser, haven’t you ever thought about improving our family’s conditions?”

She paced back and forth across the room. Then, she walked out. “No, this won’t do. I’m going to call the police.”

Samuel was shocked. “Why have you gone crazy?”

Sue replied, “I’m a good, law-abiding citizen. Now that someone like him has escaped from jail again, I have to report it to the police! Even if it’s not for money, I’m afraid he’ll come in the middle of the night and murder me. Nowadays there are murder cases everywhere. It’s not like you haven’t seen the news.”

Before Samuel could recover, Sue was gone.

The woman in her late forties to early fifties was a little plump, but she didn’t look bloated. She just looked a little well fed. Her bottom squirmed from side to side as she climbed into the car and headed straight for the nearest police station. As soon as she walked in, she immediately said, “Officer, I’d like to file a police report! A murderer has escaped from jail and is now hiding in Smith Manor.”

On the Smiths.

Karl didn’t have time to bother Sue after she ran away. Instead, he asked, “What project is it? I can talk to them!”

He was now a hero in the special department. Morris definitely wouldn’t turn him down if he asked him to alert the appropriate departments.

Joel smiled and replied, “No, it’s okay. You just got back, you should take a nice bath and rest.”

The fact that Karl had returned in uniform proved that what Nora had said was true. From the looks of it, Karl’s identity must have been reestablished.

The obstacle standing in the Smiths’ way would disappear even without him talking to the proper authorities.

Hearing what Joel said, Karl snorted. Then he scratched his head and looked at Tanya. “Do I smell bad? I’ve been bathing every day in the special department.”

As he spoke, he even stretched his arm toward Tanya so she could smell too.

Tanya: “…”

She pushed Karl’s arm and sighed. “There are meatballs in the kitchen, do you want some?”

Karl’s eyes lit up. “Yes!”

Tanya headed straight for the kitchen.

The kitchen maid said, “What do you need, ma’am? Let me do it.”

“No, it’s okay,” Tanya replied. Then, she took the frozen meatballs out of the fridge and put them in the pot.

Karl walked over. The maid smiled and said, “Mrs. Smith made these meatballs herself. She didn’t let us help at all. You are very fortunate, Mr. Moore.”

Simple Karl couldn’t stop laughing.

Ian came downstairs at that moment.

He could now get out of the wheelchair and walk with crutches, and his recovery was going well. When he saw Karl, he grumpily asked, “Dude, why are you in my house again?”

Karl arched his neck and replied, “I don’t have a home in New York, so where my daughter is is my home.”

When Tanya saw Ian, she asked, “Dad, do you want a plate of meatballs, too?”

Since Joel started calling him ‘dad’, Tanya had also changed her way of addressing Ian.

But as soon as she called him ‘daddy,’ Karl became jealous. “Girl, why are you calling him daddy, he won’t eat.”

Ian couldn’t help but smile. The moment the smile formed, his good looks were immediately revealed. He had always been an attractive man. Now that he kept himself well-groomed and his cheeks had become a bit more fleshy, he looked much younger than before. His smile was very elegant. He said, “I want a plate.”

At first, he hadn’t wanted to eat it, but just to annoy Karl, he would have a plate of meatballs, no matter what.

Karl said, “… My daughter made them for me! You can’t eat any.”

Ian leaned on his crutches and sneered, “This is my house! Get out of here!”

While the two old men were arguing like children, a group of policemen suddenly burst through the door!

There were about ten officers. They were all wearing bulletproof vests and had surrounded the living room. Ian frowned and asked, “What’s going on?”. The sweat-soaked butler came out after them and replied, “Sir, I’ve been trying to intercept them, but they refuse to listen to me…”

What accompanied his words was Sue coming in behind the policemen. She pointed to Karl and shouted, “Officer, that’s him! He’s a murderer! He even broke out of jail and stole your car.”

Karl: “?”
