Nora had a dream the night before.
In the dream, the manâs arms were around her waist. After kissing her on the lips, he had asked her to kiss the beauty mark in the corner of his eyeâ¦.
Then, she had woken up at the unbelievable time of a little after seven in the morning. When she thought about Justin coming to propose to her later that day, for some reason, Nora felt a little nervous.
She decided to get out of bed. Even after taking a few laps outside and sending Pete out into the garden, she still found herself terribly bored. So, she made a U-turn and arrived at the Hunt mansion.
She herself didnât understand why she had come here. Only when she reached the driveway, she witnessed Brenda and Ruth arguing.
She got out of the car and walked over.
Ruth frowned when she saw her. She said, âWhy not, Black Cat is my friend. Even if Brenda is the Huntâs young lady, Black Cat would never befriend her just because of that! The worlds inside and outside the country are completely different! They donât intersect at all!â
Nora gave Ruth a cold look and scoffed. âOh yeah?â
Ruth clenched her fists. Soon after, she angrily rant, âI know what you mean. Black Cat is Karlâs subordinate, while Karl himself is your sister-in-lawâs father. You must be on good terms with him, so youâre thinking of asking him to put in a good word for you, right? But Karl is in police custody of the special department, he canât get out! You want him to put in a good word for you? Dream on.â
He looked at Brenda and said, âTomorrow Iâm going to work out the final interrogation plan with Black Cat. You still have a chance to change your mind before then.â
Brenda ran her fingers through her hair and smiled. In a charming voice, she said, âThereâs no need to wait until tomorrow. Iâve already told you to go.â
âYouâ¦!â Ruth took a deep breath. She lowered her head and said, âGood. Donât regret your decision.â
After she said that, she looked at Nora again before she finally turned and left.
When he left, Brenda looked at Nora. âWhy are you here, Nora?â
Nora looked up at the sky and suddenly said, âTo take you to work.â
Brenda: â?â
Her eyes lit up in an instant and she grabbed Noraâs arm with a big smile. âReally, thatâs so awesome of you! Justin went out early in the morning, though. I donât know what heâs doing.â
This indirectly told Nora that Justin wasnât home.
Upon realizing this, Noraâs desire to enter the mansion was taken away. After all, there was only one person in the family she was interested in. So, she led Brenda to the jeep, got in it and drove to the special apartment.
When they arrived at the special department, Ruth was already there. As soon as they entered the lobby, Ruth said, âEveryone, I will email you the questionnaire in a little while. However, I need you all to sign a confidentiality agreement. No one is to leak the contents of the questionnaire to anyone, not even your colleagues in the department, because itâs my little secret.â
Brenda scoffed, âIt doesnât sound like youâre devising interrogation plans. It sounds more like a sales promotion tactic. Youâre being overly paranoid about this.â
Nora also felt that Ruth was being too secretive with the questionnaire, making it sound like it was some sort of secret martial arts manual.
But before she could say anything, Johnson had already given her his full support. âNo problem, weâre not people who talk too much anyway, are we? Iâll be the first to sign the agreement.â
Ruth smiled and handed Johnson a copy of the confidentiality agreement. She said, âIâm sorry, Captain Johnson, but this is a trade secret between psychologists. Itâs not something I can change, so the contents of the questionnaires have to be confidential.â
âI understand!â Johnson said with a serious look, âEven if you ask me how many meals I have a day, Iâll write it all down for you! This is work! Besides, Itâs common for experts to perform unusual actions!â
After saying this, he signed the confidentiality agreement.
With Johnson in the lead, the others also stepped forward and signed the agreements.
Brenda raised her eyebrows, looking at Nora and asked, âDid we sign it?â
With a half amused expression in her feline eyes, Nora replied, âYes.â
She certainly wanted to see what exactly Ruth intended.
Why was it necessary to know the interrogatorâs personality beforehand in order to interrogate a prisoner? Were they going to devise different plans according to the different personalities of the interrogators?
Why did it seem to her that Ruth had her priorities backwards?
Nora went ahead and took a serious look at the clauses in the confidentiality agreement.
Seeing that there was no catch, she signed it.
Brenda thought about it for a moment and signed it as well. After signing, she whispered to Nora, âAlthough I know that I will no longer be able to meet Black Cat, nor will I be able to gain his favor, I would like to participate in the interrogation proposals worked out by Black Cat.â
Seeing the look of regret on his face, after a momentâs reflection, Nora paused and said, âActually, thereâs nothing special about Black Cat. Heâs just another normal human.â
Brenda immediately became anxious. âJust because itâs you saying it and because youâre beautiful, I donât hold it against you. If it had been someone else who had said it, I would have punched him in the face!
âDo you know how Black Catâs reputation came about?â
Brenda said vividly, âBlack Cat was supposed to assassinate a psychopath who had gotten out of control, but everyone in the vicinity had rallied around him to protect him. Also, because the man constantly had people trying to assassinate him for many years, he was very cautious. He had ten different rooms in his house and every night he slept in a different one. Except for his butler, who was the person closest to him, no one knew which room he was in. This made it impossible for many people to take his life: the one in ten chance was too low! Besides, it was well known that his butler was very loyal to him and had even taken 18 bullets for him. Even if they caught the butler, no one could get him to reveal which room the man was in, but Black Cat had succeeded. The man died soundlessly in his bed. Only when he was discovered the next day did everyone realize that the butler had been kidnapped. By some method, Black Cat had gotten the butler to talk.â
As Brenda spoke, she also became nervous. âDoesnât that sound very exciting, Nora?â
Nora paused. She could only sigh. It was such old news from so many years ago-why were people still talking so excitedly about it?
She looked up at the ceiling and then suddenly said, ââ¦. Well, youâve already met Black Cat.â
