Karl’s face was flushed. He didn’t feel guarded at all. Besides, he wasn’t even wearing the prison uniform. He was still wearing the clothes he was wearing when he was captured. He sat in the interrogation room in a very relaxed manner, as if it was not a prison cell, but his own home.

This was completely different from the first time Karl was captured. He seemed to be sure that nothing was going to happen to him.

When he heard Nora’s question, he smiled, “Nora, I’m fine now. Help me pass a message to Tanya. I’ll be able to see her in a few days. I’ll see her openly.”

Nora narrowed her eyes. “Why do you say that, is there some other reason you transported the organization’s people to New York?”

Karl was very calm. “Nora, I can’t tell you the truth yet, but you’ll find out sooner or later. Don’t be distressed, I’ll be fine too!”

Nora: “…”

She thought for a moment and handed him the bag.

Karl instantly opened the bag and took out cooked meat. “Gosh, everything in this prison is good, but I don’t eat well. I eat grass all day long, I’m starving! Nora, have Tanya cook meat for me next time…”

Seeing that he still felt like being picky about food, Karl was really sure he would be fine. But what had happened to make his mentality change so much?

Nora thought of one possibility. She deliberately sat down across from Karl and said slowly, “Uncle Karl, tell me the truth. You’re not playing dirty, are you?”.

Karl laughed and didn’t answer. He just looked at Nora.

Nora understood instantly.

He was right.

She was more certain than anyone that the Assassin’s Alliance had nothing to do with the mysterious organization because, as the number one assassin in the Assassin’s Alliance, she was actually the creator of the Assassin’s Alliance.

At that time, she had handed over the Assassin Alliance to Karl because she could not be bothered to manage it.

Besides, both she and Karl had a rule that they could not break the law in New York.

However, Karl suddenly took such a big risk by accepting the mission from the mysterious organization for a sum that she felt was not worth it. To her, taking a group of people to New York was simply outlandish!

But what if Karl had been tasked with bringing someone to New York to be captured?

At the thought of this, Nora only felt her thoughts suddenly light up.

Although Karl didn’t answer her question, he clearly admitted it silently! Nora pursed her lips and suddenly asked, “So, who is the informant?”

Karl coughed, “I can’t say. I can’t say anything.”

No sooner had he said this than Nora suddenly said, “Uncle Karl, do you know what happened at the wedding?” Karl was stunned. “What?”

Nora looked down. “At that time, as a member of the special department, I was also wearing your headset. When you brought Tanya down the red carpet and held me hostage, someone in the headset ordered a sniper to kill you.”

Karl was stunned. He frowned and asked, “Who gave the order?”

Nora replied, “Captain Johnson. That day was the second day after his transfer.”

Karl tensed.

After a moment, he laughed. “I understand. But don’t worry, he’s not my boss.”

Nora breathed a sigh of relief at hearing that.

What she had said earlier was to keep Karl from trusting Captain Johnson and revealing key information. However, seeing that Karl was so relaxed and that the person in question was not Captain Johnson…. So maybe Captain Johnson didn’t know his identity?

Did it appear that his contact was of a higher status than Captain Johnson and Morris? If not, how could he guarantee that he would be released?

Nora’s thoughts were overflowing, but Karl had already said, “Don’t worry, I know what to do! Go back and tell Tanya that I will return gloriously. I won’t let her be the daughter of a criminal.”

When Nora heard this, she stood up. “Okay.”

She walked out.

When she got to the door, she kept thinking that maybe Karl had never cared about her status in the past. But for his daughter’s sake, he had decided to set the record straight and live like an honest man.

After confirming that Karl was fine and that nothing would happen to him, Nora left the interrogation room.

She made her way to the interrogation room where Caleb was being held.

Caleb was still not talking much. He was only eating a few bites to keep his vitals up. Nora brought him some medicine and made him take it. However, Caleb still wasn’t talking.

Nora sighed. “Trueman seems to be very worried about you. He keeps sending me messages asking you to take the medicine.”

Hearing this, Caleb looked up at her. She seemed to have some ripples in her eyes, but she was still coughing violently.

Looking at him like that and remembering how the Greys had protected her for so many years…. Nora said, “I’ll make you some cough medicine. Maybe it will make you more comfortable.”

“Cough, cough, cough…. No need.” Caleb finally said, “It doesn’t matter whether I treat this illness or not. There’s no need to waste time.”

However, Nora stood up. “It is decided.”

Although the medicine she made could not treat lung cancer, it could make Caleb more comfortable. It was really uncomfortable to see him coughing so heartbreakingly all day.

As I was thinking about this, Nora came into his office. She was about to open the door and walk in when she saw two people gathering her things. Ruth was standing in the doorway.

Nora frowned.

Before she could ask, Captain Johnson had already said, “Nora, leave this office and let Ruth have it! After all, she is a master interrogator and you are a medical examiner. Logically, you shouldn’t have your own office. Besides, you’re free at work and you like to hang around. I don’t think it will affect you much. It’s settled. Pack up your things immediately.”

Nora narrowed her eyes and scoffed. “And if I don’t?”

Captain Johnson immediately scolded her, “If you don’t, I’ll have someone else do it! I won’t be responsible for breaking your stuff.”

Nora’s lips curved slightly. Her gaze fell on Ruth, who stood beside her with a relaxed expression.

Tsk.

It was fine if she was relying on her reputation to rise in power. If this person really had interrogation techniques, he didn’t think he was going to bother Ruth. But why was she intimidating her?

Nora rubbed her wrist and craned her neck.

In this life, she could stand anything but losing out.
