It seemed that Trueman wasn’t keeping an eye on his phone, so he didn’t respond immediately after Nora sent the message.

After looking at the phone for a while, Nora tossed it aside and went to take a shower.

Cherry and Pete arrived together. On their little faces were identical frowns. Cherry said with dissatisfaction, “Pete, Grandpa is introducing Mommy to boyfriends again! Geez!”

Pete was about to console her and tell her it was okay when Cherry commented enviously, “When will my dad find me a bunch of cute boys?”

Pete: “?”

He had thought Cherry was worried about her parents splitting up, but it turned out she was just being envious of Mom…! She was simply hopeless!

The corners of Pete’s lips tightened and he glanced toward the bathroom.

Then, he dropped the book in his hand and slowly walked out the door.

“Mr. Smith, before I came here, my husband told me that I failed to beat you when I was fighting for Yvette back then, So your daughter has to show my son some courtesy this time! At the very least, let them get to know each other and try to get along!”

Seeing that Melissa simply refused to say anything, someone shifted their focus to Ian instead.

Ian’s normally lifeless countenance was filled with smiles and pride at that moment.

In the past, everyone had deliberately forbidden any mention of Yvette Anderson in front of him. None had dared to mention her name. However, the mention of her name now filled him with pride.

He smiled and replied, “Of course!”.

Justin: “!!!”.

Suddenly, he felt very annoyed that he had no senior who could speak for him. He looked at Mrs. Hunt with resentment. The old lady looked very uncomfortable and embarrassed. She was standing with her hands on her cane, looking as if she wanted to talk to Ian, but not knowing what she should say.

Justin looked down and sighed inwardly.

His father had run away from home with his mistress when he was only five years old. His mother had also left and never returned. His grandmother was the one who had raised him, so he had great respect for her.

Therefore, he could not take aggressive action against his grandmother.

Furthermore, if his grandmother remained unhappy with Nora, given her knack for infighting in the house, he feared she would continue to create problems for Nora.

That was why Justin had allowed her to continue to make trouble for the Smiths, so that she would continue to be rejected.

Only after being rejected and realizing how strong and powerful Nora was would she be truly convinced. This way, when Nora married the Hunts in the future, at least, she would not make things difficult for him.

Therefore, he did not rescue her from her predicament.

He simply stood there without saying anything. Suddenly, someone tugged at his sleeve. Justin looked down to see Pete standing by his leg and gently tugging on his arm. When he peeked out, the boy asked in his young, tender voice, “Dad, aren’t you worried about someone taking Mommy?”

Justin: “?”

He raised his eyebrows. Only then did he realize that everyone around them had stopped talking and were looking at the father and son in surprise.

Mrs. Lovell didn’t quite understand. “Dad… Mom… Mr. Hunt, what do you mean by that?”

Pete blinked and answered, “My mom is Nora!”.

All: “???”

They all looked at Ian and Mrs. Hunt with puzzled expressions.

Only then did something click in Mrs. Hunt’s head. She came to her senses and said with a smile, “Tsk, look at me, I forgot to announce something to everyone! Miss Smith is the birth mother of our little Peter Hunt. Peter and her daughter are twins. In other words, Cherry is the Hunt’s daughter! So, we won’t bother you anymore to take care of her!”

All: “!!!!”

Everyone looked at Justin. “So, Mr. Hunt and Miss Smith are in a relationship? How far has the relationship gone?” Mrs. Lovell asked.

Mrs. Hunt nudged Justin. Justin knew what she was referring to, but nonetheless glanced at Ian unconsciously. Indeed, the man had frowned. At that, Justin lowered his gaze and replied, “I’m still trying to woo her.”

His words caused Ian’s frown to relax. Mrs. Hunt, however, was a little annoyed. “Justin!”

Justin looked at her but said nothing.

The others commented, “Oh, he’s still courting her? Then that means we still have a chance! I just… I wonder where you stand on the matter, Mr. Hunt.”

Mrs. Hunt took a step forward. She was about to say something overbearing like ‘Anyone who tries to court Nora will be going against the Hunts’…. Once she said that, she would definitely force some of them to back down.

Unexpectedly, before she could speak, Justin calmly replied, “It’s a fair competition.”

His one sentence made Mrs. Hunt feel as if her breath was trapped in her chest. She couldn’t get it out, nor could she force it down.

When she finally dismissed everyone who had come to propose, even Melissa let out a huge sigh of relief.

When Pete dismissed Justin, the little boy sighed, looked contemptuously at Justin and said, “Dad, you’re useless.”

He had just deliberately gone downstairs and had called out for mom and dad to help him, but little did he expect him to be so useless.

Justin, however, raised his eyebrows. The beauty mark in the corner of his eye sparkled as he said with a smile, “It’s useless to throw them all out. It’s useless even if they curry favor with Mrs. Anderson or your grandfather.”

A puzzled Pete asked, “Then what’s useful?”

“The most effective method is to capture your mom.”

Justin always focused only on the central issue at hand. As long as Nora was willing to be with him, even if Ian objected to them being together, would there be any use?

Pete: “…”

Watching Justin leave, he suddenly felt that his father was still the calculating one after all.

When Pete came back upstairs, Nora had already bathed and was lying in bed reading a medical book. She still had a headache thinking about how to cure Quentin.

Just then, her cell phone suddenly rang.

Thinking Trueman had answered, she picked up the phone and glanced at it. However, he saw a text message: “I will do my best to woo you. Even if you don’t accept me, I won’t use children to hold you hostage.”

Nora: “…”

Her lips curved into a smile. Her anger and frustration at discovering she had been the victim of someone’s ploy seemed to have mostly disappeared when she saw the message.

The next day.

When Nora woke up and went downstairs, she saw Karl in the living room. He was following Tanya and asked with a smile, “Can the wedding be moved up two days, how about having it tomorrow?”

Tanya felt a little helpless. “The hotel and everything else is already booked. We can’t change the date just because we want to. Besides, the schedule is already very tight-is there a problem?”

Karl looked a little anxious, but nevertheless replied, “No, it’s fine, it’s fine…”.

He scratched his head. “It’s just that I’m feeling a little nervous, So I want it all to be over and done with sooner!”.

Tanya got a little angry when he said that. “If you’re busy with something, then you can go. To be honest, I don’t mind if you don’t attend my wedding!”

Karl had never fulfilled his fatherly duties in Tanya’s life for the past two decades. The relationship between Tanya and him was inherently conflicted from the beginning.

Karl was quick to say hello and said, “No way! I’m doing great. I will certainly be present at your wedding! I’m your father, Tanya.”

A smile escaped him and he looked at her ingratiatingly.

Tanya snorted at the sight of him and continued to prepare for the wedding. Deep down, however, she still felt a little uncomfortable.

Suddenly, she looked up at Karl and asked, “Is something wrong with your company?”

In order not to worry Tanya, Karl and Joel had gotten together and made up a story. They told Tanya that Karl was the CEO of a publicly traded company overseas. They had no intention of her finding out about all that underworld stuff.

Karl said seriously, “It’s okay, really! Besides, what could be more important than my daughter’s wedding? Don’t think too much about it! If you don’t want to change the wedding date, we won’t change it! You just need to take care of your skin and sleep for the next few days. All you have to do is present yourself as the beautiful bride you are on the wedding day.”

Tanya breathed a sigh of relief and uttered an “okay.” Then she continued to fill out the invitations.

Seeing her busy at her tasks, Karl sat down on the couch next to her. A soft smile formed on his gruff face.

At that moment, Karl’s phone suddenly vibrated.

When he answered it, his expression changed instantly. He quietly got up and went outside. Nora was taking the bread and milk out of the fridge at that moment. She was about to eat them when she noticed his reaction. After thinking about it, she followed him.

Karl had a very serious look on his face. His voice was very low when he said, “No! I can’t leave now! I promised Tanya I would attend her wedding, so I have to be there. You don’t have to say anything else. You guys can go back first. Don’t worry about me.”

He hung up after saying that. When he looked back, he was surprised to see Nora there.

Nora frowned. She glared at Karl and suddenly asked, “Did you run into any trouble?”

Karl laughed. “Not at all. Don’t think too much about it, hahaha.”

After saying that, he walked back into the room. As he did so, he sent a message on his phone.

As Nora watched him from behind, something suddenly occurred to him. She took her phone and switched to the Black Cat account. Sure enough, she saw a message from Karl: [Sos! Help, Black Cat].

Nora replied: [Get to the point if you have something to say].

Karl sent another message: [If anything happens to me in the future, do me a favor].

Nora’s pupils shrank: [What is this about?]

Karl: [Protect my daughter, Tanya].

Nora: [What happened? If you don’t tell me, I won’t help you].
