Cherry and Pete grabbed their little heads and looked at Nora. However, they saw that Nora, who usually went to bed early after showering and had nothing to do, was yawning as she held her phone boredly.
Cherry blinked her grape-like eyes and asked, âMommy, why arenât you asleep?â
If Mommy wasnât in bed, how was she going to play?
gαâηÏνððsâ¤com, where the best stories live Nora looked at her and yawned again. She was so sleepy she could barely open her eyes.
If she still didnât come, sheâd fall asleep!
Pete suddenly asked, âMom, are you waiting to hear from Dad?â
Nora: â?â
Her eyes opened instantly. She looked at Pete and coughed. His voice was slightly hoarse and carried a hint of panic that no one else could detect. âHow did you know?â
Pete sighed. âBecause Dadâs in the downstairs living room!â.
Nora: â????â
She asked in surprise, âWhat?â
Pete nodded and said, âYes, I saw Dad come from outside earlier. I happened to run into Grandpa, so I called him. The two of them are chatting downstairs now.â
Nora: ââ¦â
She sat down and thought about it. Then, she came out and saw two men sitting downstairs.
Justin was sitting on the couch with his back straight.
Ian was sitting in a wheelchair drinking tea. The two were sitting across from each other but not talking. The living room was very quiet.
Nora looked at them and prepared to go downstairs. When she turned around, she saw Joel and Tanya sitting by the bedroom door on the second floor. The two had even moved two chairs. They both looked like they were watching a show.
To top it off, there was a plate of melon seeds in the center.
Seeing Nora, Tanya smiled at her and spit out a melon seed. She explained, âThe two of you have been sitting across from each other for ten minutes without saying a word.â
Joel nodded to the side. âLooks like Justin is in big trouble if he wants to marry Nora.â
Tanya lifted her chin at that. âI think it was too easy for you to marry me! A lot of people came after me back then!â
Joel laughed softly. âYes, itâs mainly because my wife cooperated well and gave my father-in-law no room to resist.â
He added, âOtherwise, it would have been harder for me. After all, Uncle Ian is still reasonable, but Karlâ¦â
Before he could finish, Tanya glared at him. âWhat are you trying to say?â
Joel immediately changed his tone. âKarl is more direct and not as calculating as Uncle Ian.â
ââ¦Thatâs more like it!â
After saying that, Tanya took a handful of melon seeds. After some thought, she shoved them into Joelâs hands. Joel laughed and took them to help peel them. He then placed the seeds in Tanyaâs mouth.
The two sat very close to each other and had an intimate pose. Nora pouted and then went downstairs.
As she came down, she overheard Justin ask, âUncle Ian, do you have something to tell me? I came today toâ¦see the kids.â
Ian asked nonchalantly, âEven if I have nothing to say, canât you join me for a while?â.
Justin replied, ââ¦. Of course I can.â
He adjusted his black suit. âIf you need my company, Iâm free no matter how long it takes.â
ââ¦â Ian choked out. âItâs not necessary. Iâm just a little lonely right now and I need someone to keep me company.â
He wasnât allowed upstairs anyway!
Justin coughed and nodded. âNo problem. If it gets too late, I can stay all night. Iâll help you keep watch tonight.â
Ðа.
Who knew what room he would go to in the middle of the night?
As Ian thought about this, he said, âThereâs no need for that. Iâm not used to people keeping watch during the night for me.â
Justin leaned forward and poured him a cup of tea. After Ian took a sip, Justin asked, âUncle Ian, as far as my grandmother is concerned, Iâll apologize to you here. But donât worry, Iâm sure Iâll make her apologize to Nora.â
Ianâs attitude was cold and he was very difficult to talk to. Even now, he didnât give in. âIt doesnât matter whether she gives in or not. Besides, Nora has nothing to do with your family.â
Justin sighed. âUncle Ian, Nora and Iâ¦â
âYou and Nora have had two children by accident. Itâs certainly problematic, but donât worry. Whatever happens, youâre still the childrenâs father. If you come to see the children, I wonât stop you.â
Justin seemed to choke. He lowered his head. âUncle Ian, what do I have to do to get you to agree to our marriage?â
Ian hadnât expected him to sound so pitiful, to the point of choking on his words. He frowned and began to recount his shortcomings. âThe Hunt families are all at odds. The side family has been fighting with you all this time, right? And that grandmother of yours is not someone easy to deal with. After Nora marries you, family matters will be too much trouble. These are all things I canât agree with.â
Justin nodded. âI know. There are a lot of problems at home, but Iâll try my best to solve them before I come to propose marriage.â
Ian frowned. âWeâll talk about it when the time comes. If thereâs nothing more to say, you can go.â
Justin slowly lowered his head, his expression revealing some aggravation. Seeing him like that, Nora suddenly thought of the first time she had seen him. It was at the hotel. The man was like a moon surrounded by stars, dazzling. Such a person smiled when confronted by Karl Moore, threatening him in a domineering way, but when confronted by Ian, he accepted unconscionable criticism.
Nora lowered her eyes and said suddenly, âCherry missed you. Go upstairs and see her.â
Justinâs eyes lit up at hearing this. He unconsciously took two steps toward Nora, but then stopped and looked at Ian hesitantly.
His expression was as if he didnât dare approach unless Ian allowed it.
Ian: â!!!â
He finally understood. This guy hadnât spoken since he came in and was waiting for him to speak. Whoever spoke first would lose, but why had Justin suddenly started to give in?
So it was because Nora had come downstairs!
This pretentious guy!
However, since he had just been reunited with his daughter, he definitely couldnât force the two of them apart. Therefore, he angrily said, âGo.â Justin revealed a happy expression. âThank you, Uncle Ian!â
Then, he followed Nora upstairs.
Ian: ââ¦â
He suddenly felt very aggrieved!
Justin, who was trailing behind Nora, smiled. He followed Nora up the stairs. When he saw Joel, he stopped for a moment and nodded before following Nora into the bedroom.
As soon as they entered, he said to Cherry and Pete, âI just saw Mia. Sheâs looking for you guys.â
Nora: â?â
When Cherry saw Justin, she had already jumped off the couch and was running toward him. Hearing him, she stopped in front of him and hesitantly asked, âItâs too late now. Is Mia still awake?â
Justin coughed. âYes.â
Pete looked at the tyrant and stood up helplessly. âCherry, come on.â
Nora looked at him shooing the children out the door. Then with a click, he closed the door and turned to look at her. âNora, we donât have much time. We have to hurry.â
Nora: â?????â
