The small corner was pitch black. A dim light pierced the area, revealing a man in a black suit pressing a woman half a head shorter than him against the wall. He was squeezing the womanâs cheek with one hand as he wrapped the other around her waist. It looked like he had her pinned there, but in reality, Nora was still a short distance from the wall. Justin had done this so that the wall behind her would not chill herâ¦.
The manâs large hands were scorching. The heat pierced her thin summer clothes and seemed to scald her skin at waist level.
Nora unconsciously wanted to push him away, but her lips had been sealed by him.
The manâs lips were like jelly, soft and cool to the touch. When they came in contact with Noraâs lips, they made her freeze in place.
Her eyes widened in surprise and she saw the manâs face in front of her.
His eyes were dark and bottomless, full of burning passion and affection. In the gloom, the beauty mark at the corner of his eye looked a little more seductive than usual.
Her sharp, defined bridge of the nose, as well as her skin that seemed poreless even at such close range, made Nora unable to put up any resistance.
The New York sky had always been dull and gray. It was as if even the moon, high in the sky, was hidden behind the clouds of shyness by them.
Thump⦠thumpâ¦
The violent thumping of the heartbeat reached Nora through her breasts, which were pressed against each other. At first, Nora thought the beat was her own, but suddenly she realized that it was actually Justinâsâ¦.
The heartbeat seemed to possess some kind of captivating charm, which made her stop the movement of her hands. Along with the manâs breathing, which was slightly heavier than usual, Noraâs cheeks gradually grew warmer.
She couldnât help but swallow hard.
Then, she felt something cold on her forehead -the man had rested his forehead against hers. The sensation on her lips had disappeared. His voice was a little hoarse as he said, âNora, Iâve missed you.â
Nora blinked. The man had already said that on the phone a moment ago, but when the words rang in her ears at that instant, she felt as if a small, thin electric current slowly passed through her ears all the way to her heart.
He swallowed saliva again.
The man, who seemed to have sensed her reaction, suddenly let out a chuckle.
Noraâs cheeks turned red. She was about to ask him what he was laughing about when the man sealed his lips again. But his kiss was not like the previous one. Instead, he tentatively parted their lipsâ¦.
The manâs cool, clear breath, as well as the smell of vanilla, invaded her nose and mouth as if it wanted to take the air out of her lungsâ¦.
The man was dominant and devoted. He invaded and swept her territory greedily, as if he hated to leave even an inch of it untraveledâ¦.
The kiss ended.
Nora gasped. For the first time, she realized that kissing really took a lot of energy.
However, neither of them realized that at that moment there were two heads watching them from upstairs. One of them had a gloating look on its face while the otherâs face showed its fury.
Two minutes ago.
An indignant Karl said, âMy daughter married your nephew just like that?â.
Ian sat quietly in the wheelchair. âIf not, what more do you want?â.
Karl paced back and forth. âThere was no proposal, no asking for his parentsâ hand, no nothing. Just like that they got married so hastily?â
â⦠Hah.â Karl squeezed his chest. âCan you put yourself in my shoes and think about it from another angle? Would you be willing to let a man kidnap your daughter like that?â
âNo,â Ian replied.
âWouldnât you? So youâ¦â
But before he could finish, Ian scoffed and said, âWhat I mean is that Justin had always slept in the guest room when he stayed with the Smiths! My daughter doesnât care about him at all. Sheâs not like Tanya, who grew up with Joel as childhood sweethearts, and is deeply in love with him. She canât stop them at all. Therefore, my daughter will not be easily kidnapped by anyone. Iâm sorry, but I canât imagine myself in her place at all.â
Karl: ââ¦â
The manâs smug look was simply too annoying! If Ian wasnât in a wheelchair and terribly weak, he probably would have gotten into a fist fight with him long ago!
The corners of his lips tightened. He was about to say something when they both suddenly heard a noise outside.
Karl and Ian were startled.
Then, as if he had realized something, Ian hurriedly pushed the wheelchair to the second floor window. Through the window, he could see downstairs. Justin was hugging and kissing his daughterâ¦.. Ian felt a twinge of pain in his chest.
He clutched his chest.
The situation before his eyes was no different than watching a pig steal the precious treasure he had worked so hard to protect all these years.
âHa ha!â
Karl couldnât help but laugh. His expression was the complete opposite of Ianâs. He pointed at Ian and said with a smile, âThe way I see it, the Smiths are about to welcome double happiness! Say, do you want to marry your daughter off at Joel and Tanyaâs wedding too? Anyway, Tanya and Nora are best friends, so Iâm sure they wonât mind!â.
Ian: â!!!!â
He was furious. He looked behind him and suddenly saw a basin of water. He immediately grabbed it, thinking to pour it down!
However, his hands stopped in mid-air.
What if the water fell on Nora?
As soon as the thought formed, he could only put the basin of water back where it was. He was about to scream and separate the two below when Karl whispered, âIâd advise you not to say anything right now.â
Ian turned to him, his eyes red-rimmed. âItâs because sheâs not your daughter, isnât it?â
Karl smiled. âThatâs exactly how I felt when Tanya married Joel. How I wish I could kill that bratâ¦â
âHeh, do you think youâll be able to kill any of the Smiths when youâre in the States?â
âI got Black Catâ¦forget it, weâre rambling. What I mean is, you canât do that. Tanya and I just recognized each other, but isnât that the case with you and Nora too? Think about it, has Nora ever called you dad?â.
Ian fell silent.
Karl continued. âNora is much colder than Tanya in terms of personality. Itâs much harder for someone like her to warm up to someone. It must be very awkward between the two of them, right? Think about it, if you accidentally caught her secretly kissing a man, wouldnât things become even more awkward in the future?â
Ian: ââ¦â.
Karl then said, âSo, the only thing you can do now is pretend you didnât see anything! Lest your daughter be even more estranged from you!â
Ian: â!!!â
When he thought about it carefully, What Karl said actually made a lot of sense!
Reluctantly and indignantly, he suppressed his anger and pushed the wheelchair back and forth a few times. Then, he walked over to the window and looked down again.
When he did, he discovered that the two were kissing againâ¦. And this time, the pigâs hand was even starting to wander around!!!
