Her words took Karl by surprise. âWhat do you mean by that, Nora?â
Nora raised her eyebrows. She was about to speak when Ian said, âIt means the Smiths have someone whoâs even more impressive than Black Cat! Donât think you can keep talking about Black Cat just because you have Black Cat in your organization. Weâre talking about the childrenâs marriage now, and yet you keep going on and on about Black Cat. Can you be any more annoying?â
His words immediately made Karl choke up, but he suddenly reacted and said, âThis is not right, Smith. Iâm the one whoâs marrying my daughter off to your nephew â you should be the one begging me instead! Why should I be the one coming to talk to you?â
Ian, however, scoffed, âIf you donât want to talk to me about it, then Iâll go talk to Tanya.â
As soon as he said that, Karl was quick to say, âNo, no, talk to me!â.
Tanya and Karl had just recognized each other, their relationship was not very good. Karl could not adopt the attitude of a father-in-law at the Smiths at all.
However, Karl would not allow his daughter to marry into the Smiths so quietly either!
As he was thinking about it, Tanya and Joel came into the room walking hand in hand.
They both seemed to be in love with each other, and Tanyaâs eyes seemed to be smiling.
Joelâs smile had also become bigger and even more attractive than in the past. Seeing them, Nora asked, âDid something good happen to make the two of them smile like that?â
Tanya looked at Joel and blushed a little, though she didnât say anything.
Joel walked over to Ian and Karl. He smiled and said, âUncle Ian, Dad, Nora, youâre all here. I happen to have some good news for you.â
All three were shocked.
Karl was the first to react. âHow did you just call me?â
Joel pulled out a folder and handed it to them. âTanya and I registered our marriage and got our marriage certificate today. We are husband and wife as of today.â
âââ!âââ.
The news was simply too amazing, or at least, Nora gasped. She looked at Tanya in disbelief.
Karl was also stunned. âYou guys⦠Arenât you guys jumping the gun on this a little?â Tanya shook her head. âWeâve already let ourselves go for five years. We donât want to let another five years slip away.â
Her words made Karl shut his mouth.
Ian stared at the two of them, so happy that even his eyes had turned a little red. He patted Joelâs hand and said, âGreat, great!â
As everyone got excited, Karl said with dissatisfaction, âThe weddingâ¦â
Tanya said, âAt first I didnât want to have a wedding because it seemed pointless when we already have a daughter⦠but Joel didnât agree. So weâve decided to invite our friends and family to a simple wedding a week later.â
Hearing this, Karl lowered his head. There was a faint layer of mist in his eyes. âHmph, at least you know whatâs good for you, kid!â
Joel smiled and said, âDad, Uncle Ian. I have some wedding details I want to discuss with you two.â
As they talked, he, Ian and Karl walked into the study.
Tanya stayed where she was and looked at Nora. She said, âNora, I also have something to ask you for the wedding-â. Nora raised her eyebrows. âWhat is it?â

Evening.
Justin left the Huntsâ mansion.
As soon as he left, Mrs. Hunt approached with the help of the housekeeper. She sighed and said, âItâs only been a day since youâve seen her, And youâre already unable to contain yourself?â.
The housekeeper said, âAbsence makes the heart grow fonder. Besides, with the news that the Smiths are looking for a son-in-law, Mr. Hunt must be terribly anxious.â
Mrs. Hunt snorted, âI havenât heard anything about them looking for a son-in-law, but I have heard something else!â
âWhat?â
âAs expected, the Smithâs young lady is a simple woman who doesnât know about the world! She had the audacity to challenge the alternative medicine circle! She canât even see what sheâs made of anymore! If someone like her becomes the matriarch of the family, sheâll definitely offend a lot of people and make a lot of enemies for the Hunts! My head hurts as soon as I think about this.â
As the housekeeper held Mrs. Huntâs arm, she asked, âDid she challenge the alternative medicine circle?â
âYes!â Mrs. Hunt sighed and said, âAlternative medicine is vast and deep, and the knowledge it contains is astounding. Remember the Zabe Corporationâs Soothing Pill? Wasnât it far more effective than modern medicine? Where exactly did a little surgeon like her get the courage to challenge the alternative medicine circle? The way I see it, as soon as Doctor Zabeâs disciple goes into action, heâll crush her under his feet!â
The housekeeper frowned. âWill that bring trouble to the family?â
Mrs. Hunt scoffed, âIt wonât come to that much, but I think itâs something that will do her good! After all, once the competition is over, both alternative and modern medicine circles will loathe and despise her! With that, the Smiths will finally realize the position she is in. It will be much easier for the Hunts to propose marriage after that!â
The housekeeper was surprised. âDo they still intend to let him marry into the family?â
Mrs. Hunt sighed. âLook how Justin is behaving. If I donât let him marry into the family, Iâll lose my grandson and my great-grandchildren! The current situation looks pretty good to me. Weâll let the outsiders suppress their arrogance first!â
âThatâs rightâ¦â
After the conversation, Mrs. Hunt said, âGet ready. Weâll go to the Smiths to propose to them two days later.â
âYes, maâam.â

On the Smiths.
âDo you have your marriage certificate?â Justinâs surprised voice traveled through Cherryâs phone.
Cherry nodded. âYes! So Miaâs mom and dad can be together forever now! Dad, will you and Mom get a marriage certificate too?â
Nora was sitting on the couch reading a medical book. Hearing this, she unconsciously looked down at her phone, over which she heard Justin say, âAs long as your mom agrees, I can do it anytime I want.â
Nora blinked and smiled.
Cherry and Pete chatted some more with Justin. Then, Justin asked, âWhat does your mother do?â.
Cherry replied, ââ¦Sheâs reading!â.
âPass the phone to your mother.â Cherry passed the phone to Nora.
Nora put the book down and lay back on the couch lazily. âWhatâs wrong?â
Justin coughed. âTurn off the speaker phone first.â
Nora furrowed her eyebrows and looked at Cherry and Pete, who were watching her greedily. The two kids were like two huge third wheels.
She turned off speakerphone mode. âTalk.â
âNora, I miss you.â
Nora: â!!!â
When she heard this, she unconsciously looked at the two children again. For some reason, her cheeks suddenly felt a little warm.
She reached out and fanned herself. Then, he said, âSo?â
âCome down.â
Nora felt startled by his words.
She unconsciously got up, opened the door and went downstairs. She left the living room and walked toward the parking lot.
It was pitch dark outside.
She had just passed under a large tree when someone suddenly grabbed her by the wrist. They held her down, and then the familiar aura of a man rushed at her.
Nora wanted to say something, but the next moment, her lips were sealed â¦.
