After hanging up the call, a short time later, Sheril suddenly sent him an article. It was an article from a website for the national alternative medicine community to communicate and exchange ideas with each other. The article offered an objective assessment of the upcoming showdown between alternative and modern medicine.
Blaineâs medical knowledge had improved by leaps and bounds lately overseas. He had just performed a very risky operation two days ago in which the process of the operation was recorded. His hands were so steady that they were comparable to Antiâs. In fact, some people overseas were already starting to compare him with Anti and discussing who was really the better surgeon.
Needless to say, Anti was still publicly recognized as number one; after all, Blaine had just caught up with her.
However, this was enough to make the countryâs alternative medicine practitioners wary. Blaine was definitely not someone who looked impressive but lacked real value. In fact, he had a couple of tricks up his sleeve!
The article also featured and talked about some of the diseases he had treatedâ¦.
After Nora closed the page, she saw a message from Sheril: âNora, do you think the alternative medicine circle can beat it?
A medical skills competition in which doctors from both circles treated patients on the spot was, in itself, already a disadvantage for alternative medicine practitioners.
Modern medical practitioners could make use of all kinds of equipment, but alternative medicine practitioners could only rely on their own judgment. To make matters worse, the effects of their medical treatment were slow to appear, so people could not immediately see the effects.
No doubt, Blaine was a bit of a handful to deal with. In addition, he had called several leaders in the modern medical circleâ¦.
Nora replied, âItâs hard to tell.â
Sheril: â⦠You donât have to be so honest!â
Nora smiled.
âââ¡â â¤ââââ£â⢠ââ ââââââ¥âââ¢.âââ She put the phone down. The housekeeper at the door had told her that her cousin from California was here, so she left her room. As soon as she did, she heard Louisâ voice downstairs. âMiss Black! Long time no see!â
Lisaâs shy voice was heard. âWhy are you home again!â
Louis replied, âI was about to go out to play with Chester, but then I saw you! Come on, Iâll play host!â
Lisa said, âNo, itâs okay. I have something to talk to my cousin about. You can come out.â
Louis said righteously, âThat wonât work. As host, I must accompany you.â
Lisa: ââ¦â.
Nora didnât dare listen any longer. She went downstairs, looked at Lisa and asked, âWhy are you here?â.
Lisa approached her anxiously. âNora, I hear youâre going to challenge the alternative medicine circle.â
ââ¦â The corners of Noraâs lips spasmed. âYou already know everything?â
Lisa nodded her head. âThe news has spread throughout the school. We have alternative medicine students at the university. All the alternative medicine majors are very angry now, AND conflicts are starting to form between them and the modern medicine majors!â
Nora: ââ¦â
She didnât expect news of the incident to spread so quickly, Nor that the influence would be so great!
Lisa continued. âAlso, there are reporters who camp outside the school gates and ask if you are an externshipped teacher at the school. When I was coming in, the dean of neurosurgery told me to tell you not to come to the school for the time being.â
Nora nodded. âUnderstood.â
Lisa looked at her warily. âNora, how do you plan to fix this?â
Nora patted her on the shoulder. âDonât worry.â
Lisa let out a sigh of relief.
Beside them, Louis stood puzzled. âWhat are you two talking about? Nora, why are you provoking the alternative medicine circle?â
Nora looked at him and suddenly raised her eyebrows. She asked, âWhat do you find more impressive, modern medicine or alternative medicine?â.
Louis replied, â⦠That would depend on how much money you make on each!â.
Nora: â?â
Lisa was also surprised. âBut the medical fees will be different according to the respective diseases!â
Louis lifted his chin. âHeh, heh, what I mean is that it depends on what the alternative and modern medicine circle pays me. Whichever one gives me the most money will be the one I find most impressive.â
Both Nora and Lisa were speechless for a while.
Then, Louis put his hand in his pocket and asked, âNora, is this money really mine?â.
Nora: ââ¦â
Why was Louis still worried about the money when it had been so long since the incident?
She nodded.
Louis suddenly stood up. âNoraâs little cousin, when are you leaving? After I see you off, Iâm going to the bank to apply for some cards.â
Nora asked curiously, âWhat are you going to apply for cards for?â
Louis smiled and said, âYou donât get it, do you? You canât put all your eggs in one basket. Iâm going to apply for a few dozen cards and deposit a little money on each one. That way, if Joel confiscates one of my cards, Iâll still have money stashed somewhere else!â
Louis stepped forward a bit. He said, âBesides, I still havenât gotten used to suddenly becoming a rich man. Iâve made up my mind: Iâm going to give the dogs and cats a feast to celebrate tonight! They can have the most expensive imported canned food. Plus, Iâm going to take them to the pet store to get them bathed, and then Iâm going to buy them homesâ¦â
After dismissing the worried Lisa and Louis, Nora felt that things had finally calmed down around her.
Unexpectedly, at that moment, Ian, in a wheelchair, came back out. She didnât quite understand why Karl was standing next to him either.
Surprised, she asked politely, âUncle Karl, what are you doing here?â
Karl replied nonchalantly, âI came to talk about marriage.â Now everything clicked in Noraâs head.
It was true. It didnât make sense for Tanya and Joel to stay together like that without a proper relationship. Joel should give Tanya a proper status.
She was about to ask if they had agreed on a wedding date when Ian asked, âHave you run into any kind of trouble?â
Nora paused for a moment. She was about to say something when Karl said, âWas anyone so blind as to bully you? Do you want the Assassinâs Alliance to get rid of them for you?â
Nora: ââ¦â
Was his way of dealing with problems always so straightforward?
As she wondered, Ian sneered, âDo you think you can kill people so nonchalantly outside your own country! Is there anyone among your assassins who can take someoneâs life without anyone knowing about it in the United States?â
Karl immediately replied, âBlack Cat can!â
Nora: â????â
So, his way of helping her was to have her personally kill them herself?
Ian curved his lips in disdain. âTsk, youâre always going on and on about Black Catâ¦. Donât you think itâs embarrassingâ¦?â.
Karl, however, didnât find it embarrassing in the least. âHa, the way I see it, youâre just jealous that I have Black Cat because the leader of your clandestine forces has been hospitalized, so you donât have anyone to do things for you anymore!â.
Ian: ââ¦â
Karl continued. âIn the past, you could still stand up to me by relying on your clandestine forces, but nowâ¦. You no longer have Quentin, but I still have Black Cat!â
Ian: ââ¦â
Seeing Ianâs expression darken even more, Karl immediately smiled. âBlack Cat is our best assassin, no one can compare to him! Even if Quentin was in his best state, he wonât be able to compare to him!â
Seeing that Ian was about to explode, Nora couldnât help but say, âUncle Karl, who says the Smiths donât have Black Cat â¦â
