Chapter 501

Nora1,119 words~6 min read

Nora didn’t understand why Caleb was suddenly saying this. While she was stunned, a deep, magnetic voice interrupted the two in a commanding way. “Mr. Gray, it’s a shame there are no buts in this world.”

She was slightly stunned and turned to see Justin standing behind her.

He reached out a hand and lightly squeezed Nora’s shoulder as if announcing his sovereignty. Her eyes were even deeper as she looked at Caleb. “Besides, I don’t need anyone to help me raise my son and wife.”

After saying this, he looked at Nora. “Have you two finished talking?”

Nora: “…Yes.”

For some reason, when she met the man’s eyes, she felt guilty as if she had been caught red-handed.

Justin lowered his head slightly and smoothed her hair before smiling. “So, are you coming home with me? Cherry and Pete won’t sleep without you.”

“… Okay.”

The two children were clearly very sensible. Why did she say they wouldn’t sleep without their mom?

Nora’s lips twitched as she followed Justin.

After taking two steps, she was suddenly stopped. “Miss Smith.”

Nora turned and saw Caleb get up as well. He was still coughing, and when she met Justin’s hostile gaze, she smiled. “I just want to ask you one last question.”

“Go ahead.”

Nora was very polite to him. After all, this person was from the same generation as her mother. Actually, it would be normal to call him uncle.

Caleb said, “Since you recognized me, why didn’t you bring anyone with you?”

These words made Nora pause.

After some thought, she suddenly smiled. “I believe in my mother.”

Caleb was puzzled.

Nora said, “She gave me to you, so you probably won’t hurt me. By the same logic, since I don’t know the truth, I can’t have you arrested just like that.”

Caleb’s deep-set eyes revealed a glimmer of relief. He lowered his head and coughed twice before smiling. “I understand.”

Nora looked at him and couldn’t help but say, “If there’s anything you need my help with, don’t hesitate to ask.”

After all, he had protected her for many years. If she asked him for help in treating an illness, he definitely wouldn’t turn it down.

Caleb nodded. “…Okay.”

After saying this, Nora left with Justin.

Caleb stayed in the same spot and watched the two of them leave. Suddenly, he lowered his eyes, revealing a lonely look. He went back to the hotel.

As soon as he entered, he heard Trueman’s high-pitched voice. “What were you two talking about?”

Caleb coughed. “It was nothing. You don’t need to know.”

Trueman scoffed. “Caleb, have you forgotten who you are?”

Caleb said nothing.

Trueman seemed to see through his thoughts as he smiled. “I know. You like him.”

For the first time, Caleb’s tone became serious. “Don’t talk nonsense!”

“Hahahahaha, that’s the first time I’ve ever seen you angry. To be able to make the normally gentle you so angry, I seem to have seen right through you! Do you regret now that the person engaged to her back then wasn’t you? What’s more, it should have been you!”

“Shut up! Cough, cough, cough, cough, cough…”

“Tsk, it’s so funny to see you so exasperated now. Hahaha… If you don’t tell me what they were talking about, do you think I won’t know? I’m sure I’ll find a way! Caleb, you better get real and don’t betray the organization, okay?”

Nora didn’t know about the dispute at the hotel. At this point, she was driving with Justin on the way back to the Smiths.

The man sat in the passenger seat and didn’t say a word.

Nora glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. Her lips curved slightly. “Why do I smell jealousy?”

Justin sighed. He really couldn’t do anything to her.

He was about to say something when Nora’s phone rang. He accepted the call and Maureen’s voice came on the other end. “Nora, where have you and Mr. Hunt gone? Mrs. Hunt is here.”

At this, Justin’s phone rang. He answered it and Brenda’s voice was heard on the other end. “Justin, Grandma has gone to the Smiths!”

Nora: “…”

Justin: “…”

On the Smiths.

Joel looked kindly at Mrs. Hunt. “Mrs. Hunt, it’s too late now, why did you come to the Smiths? You could have called me if there was something to attend to…”

Supported by the butler, Mrs. Hunt bent down and looked up with a cane in her hand. “Where’s Justin?”

Joel coughed. “He’s gone out.”

Mrs. Hunt asked again, “He went out? But I hear from his office that Justin doesn’t have to work overtime today, where’s Miss Smith?”

Joel: “She’s out too.”

Mrs. Hunt laughed dryly. “So the two of you ditched your kids and went out together?”

Joel felt a little uncomfortable. “Not really…”

“Why, did they take the kids too?”

Joel explained, “Mr. Hunt went to pick up Nora from work.”

Mrs. Hunt narrowed her eyes. “Even though we have a babysitter at home, it’s really inappropriate for both of them to leave both children at home.”

Joel nodded. “You’re right. When they come back, I’ll tell them.”

Mrs. Hunt smiled. “Mr. Smith, I wonder which room my Pete is in. I’ll go up and see him.”

As she spoke, she stood up and was supported by the butler as they headed for the elevator.

Joel wanted to stop her. “Mrs. Hunt, this is not very appropriate.”

Mrs. Hunt stopped in her tracks. “Why not? As your great-grandmother, I’m going to see my great-grandson. Is there a problem?”

Joel was about to speak when Mrs. Hunt smiled. “Of course, I can’t see your daughter without Miss Smith’s permission. But I don’t need to disturb her to see my great-grandson. What room is she in?”

Mrs. Hunt was really angry!

Justin had already been staying with the Smiths for over half a month. If this continued, the Hunts would become the laughing stock of New York.

Hearing the slight contempt in her words, Joel’s expression darkened.

Suddenly he smiled, “Room 203, upstairs.”

He escorted Mrs. Hunt upstairs. When they reached room 203, Mrs. Hunt frowned. “This must be Miss Smith’s room, right, Pete sleeps here?”

“Yes,” Joel said. “Pete insisted on sleeping here.”

Mrs. Hunt grimaced in her heart. “Then I’m going in to have a look around! Plus I’ll take the opportunity to see Cherry! But, Mr. Smith, your family is too careless. Even though Cherry and Pete are only five years old, they are not biological siblings. It’s not good for them to sleep in the same room, is it?”
