Jillâs calm words were different from the threats and promises she had made at the door.
She even laughed softly. âItâs like what you said at the Smith house then. You wish to return your body to meâ¦. I donât want your bones or your blood. I just want you to make peace with me.â Tanya looked at her. She was a little puzzled and confused.

When Tanya returned to the Smithâs house, Joel and Nora were already waiting for her on the couch. When they saw her, they immediately asked her nervously, âWhat did you talk about, did he threaten you again?â
âNo.â
Tanya sat down on the couch and repeated Jillâs words.
She didnât hide anything because of Jillâs words. She knew things were not as simple as she had thought.
After hearing her words, Nora asked, âYou turned her down?â
Based on Tanyaâs personality, she would definitely turn her down.
She was never one to be afraid of threats.
Tanya shook her head. âNot yet. I said I wanted to think about it. I wanted to ask Joel for his opinion, and she agreed.â
Nora was stunned. âWhy would you say that all of a sudden?â
Tanya hesitated for a moment. âI donât know if Iâm being paranoid. I just keep feeling like something is wrong.â
Nora and Joel looked at her. Nora sensed something and asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Tanya sat down on the couch and continued, âEver since I was young, Jill was the one who loved Hillary the most. I remember once, when Hillary was sick, she stayed in the hospital all night. Later, even when she herself fell ill, she kept going to see Hillary.
She definitely has a deep mother-daughter relationship with Hillary. I even felt jealous back thenâ¦â
Tanya frowned. âI was really shocked when she suddenly came to say those words to me very calmly today. I never expected him to renounce Hillary.â
How could a woman who loved her daughter more than her own life give her up in just two days?
What Jill had said today made sense. It was the obvious choice for an absolutely selfish person. However, when this matter was deposited on Jill, who was an extremely biased mother, there was something odd about it.
At the very least, Tanya wouldnât believe it!
Joel frowned. âMaybe Hillary would be safer in jail if she reconciled with Jill?â
Tanya was puzzled. âMaybe?â
But she still felt something was wrong.
Nora suddenly said, âPromise her and see what she plans to do next!â.
Tanya: â?â
Joel looked at Nora and said, âYes, do what Nora said.â
Tanya nodded. âOkay, Iâll call her.â
She pulled out her phone in front of Nora and Joel and called Jill. The other party quickly answered. Jillâs voice had a tinge of nervousness that couldnât be detected. âHave you thought this through, how did your discussion with Mr. Smith go?â.
Nora looked at Tanya and Tanya understood what she meant. She replied in disgust, âWe discussed it. Joel agreed. From now on, tell everyone that we have reconciled, OK? The Smiths donât want a troublemaker like you bothering them forever.â
Jill agreed. âOkay, thatâs it. Iâm hanging up.â
After hanging up, Tanya looked at Nora and held out her hands.
Nora frowned.
The reason she had asked Tanya to suddenly agree to Jillâs request was that she remembered what Brenda had said that afternoon.
She had to pay attention to the abnormality around her.
But why would Jill try to make amends?
Nora said calmly, âWait a little longer. I think sheâll definitely call back.â
Half an hour later, just when Nora suspected her judgment was wrong, Jill called.
Nora immediately sat down and instructed Tanya to answer the call.
Jillâs faint cries came through the phone. âTanya, your Uncle Jones thinks weâve made up. He even hit meâ¦â
Tanyaâs expression didnât change at all. â¿Y?â
Jill replied carefully, âSo, can you help me explain it to her?â
Tanya didnât speak, but let out a mocking laugh.
After a moment of silence, Jill said, âI know you might not want to come. Thatâs okay. I have another way to show the public that we did reconcile.â
Tanya: âWhat way?â
Jill said, âRemember your uncleâs cousin? He just graduated this year and is looking for a job. Can you arrange something for him at the Smithsâ company? That way everyone will know weâve made up. You donât have to say anything⦠This is just a small matter for the Smiths, isnât it? Of course, you donât have to arrange any key positions for him. He just has to be at headquartersâ¦. At headquarters, it would be noticed that I helped him find a job.â
Nora: â???â
This request was too mundane!
She grimaced and nodded to Tanya. Tanya said, âJoel agreed. I hope you can keep his word in the future and stop bothering me.â
Jill said, âOkay, Iâll send you your cousinâs resume later.â
After Jill sent the resume, Nora immediately asked for a copy and checked this personâs background.
She suspected that this cousin might not be as ordinary as Jill wanted her to believe.
However, she did not expect that after researching this person, she would not find any problems.
He hesitated.
Was Jill really looking for a job for a cousin?
At the prison.
Visiting hours.
Jill was in the visiting room. When she saw Hillary limping, her heart instantly ached. Her eyes turned red as she grabbed Hillaryâs hand. âHillary, I made it! Can that person really save you?â
Hillary nodded and said impatiently, âWhat else? Weâre already in this situation-is there anyone else who can save us?â
Jill was quick to say, âDonât be mad. I just feel like itâs a little hard to believeâ¦. Besides, your cousin is also confused about his new work arrangementâ¦â
Hillary said irritably, âJust do as I say! Why are you asking so many questions? And make him obedient too!â
âOkay, okayâ¦â
The visit was over, and next on the schedule was recess time.
Hillary propped her tired body up and walked to the side.
When no one was paying attention to her, she suddenly said, âMy mother has arranged for someone to go into the Smiths. Shouldnât you keep your promise and get me out of here?â
As he spoke, he slowly looked at another person in prison uniform.
This person was an acquaintance .
