An influential figure?
Tanya looked at Karl. She had never been afraid of influential people. After all, Karl was only one thing to her at that moment: a father who had tried to help someone else take his daughter away from him.
When Sue saw that he didnât say anything, she continued. âYouâd better not do anything foolish. Iâll tell you this: Joel is willing to defend you today because heâs still in love with you now. Once he gets bored with you, he can easily throw you out and make you suffer. You know what I mean, donât you?â.
Tanya lowered her gaze and replied coldly, âYes.â
She then walked around Sue, stood next to Joel and looked at Karl. He said very coldly, âI have nothing to say to you.â
Anger filled inside her the moment she thought about how Karl had forced them to go to court with Hillary.
His words and behavior shocked Sue! She and Samuel looked at each other and hurried to step forward. Sue held Tanya and reprimanded her. âGirl, watch your language!â
Samuel looked at Karl and explained, âDonât take this the wrong way, Mr. Moore. She is from a small family, so she doesnât know how to speak properly. Rest assured that her attitude is not representative of the Smithsâ. After all, sheâs not Joelâs wife yet!â. He then looked at Tanya and rebuked her in a loud voice. âWhat kind of attitude do you think youâre taking with Mr. Moore! Hurry up and apologize.â
Joelâs eyes turned cold. However, seeing that Karlâs expression had darkened, he thought for a while and decided not to say anything.
Tanya would live with the Smiths in the future. If Karl unleashed his anger, maybe he could intimidate those two old fogeys and stop them from creating so much trouble in the future.
Her silence made Samuel think that she had given him her tacit approval. Thus, his voice became even louder as he reprimanded Tanya. âIâm talking to you! Why wonât you listen to me? Hurry up and apologize.â
Tanya lowered her head and sneered, âYou donât deserve my apology.â Her words horrified Samuel even more. He looked up again and sure enough, Karl was already making a long face. He immediately misunderstood and rushed to scold Tanya angrily again. âWhatâs wrong with you? If you donât apologize, you can forget about marrying the Smiths.â Then, she turned to Karl. âMr. Moore, please donât make a mistakeâ¦â
Beside him, Sue also said, âMr. Moore, donât be angry. Insensitive, clumsy, foul-mouthed and short-sighted; sheâs always been like this since she was a child! Itâs all because sheâs a wayward child without a father to educate her. Thatâs why she has no family upbringing at all.â
As soon as he said that, he heard a click. The next moment, an icy object was pointed at her head.
Sue was stunned. She slowly turned her head to see a pitch black hole pointed at her head. When she realized what it was, Sueâs legs went limp and she almost fell to the ground.
She was so terrified she was shaking all over. She pointed at Tanya and said, âMr. Moore, youâ¦are pointing at the wrong person. Tanya is over thereâ¦â
Karlâs gaze, however, was fixed on her.
He had the guts to sneer at his daughter as he stood in front of her. Then he thought of all that his men had found out about Tanya as they were on their way hereâ¦. Her daughter had suffered so much all these years!!!!
Just thinking about it made her heart ache terribly!!!!!
He asked coldly, âDid you just say she doesnât have a father?â
Sue nodded immediately. âYes, yes, thatâs right. Sheâs the extra baggage Jill brought with her when she married the Joneses. Everyone knows about it. I even heard that Jillâs ex-lover was a small-time gangster. With a gangster for a father, she must be rotten to the coreâ¦â
Almost as soon as he said that, he heard a pop.
A shot rang out right next to Sueâs ear, making her jump in surprise and fear. Her pants immediately got hotâ¦.
When she recovered, she saw that the shot had landed right next to her foot. It had even punched a small hole in the Smithsâ marble floor.
His legs turned to jelly and he fell to the floor.
Karl blew on the cannon and dispelled the smoke coming from it. Then, as if nothing noteworthy had happened, he said, âSorry, it went off accidentally.â
Sue: ââ¦â
She nodded obediently. Before she could say anything, Karl raised the gun and pointed the black hole at her again.
Karlâs voice seemed to come from the heavens, but also as if he was close by. He said, âHearing you insult me like that doesnât make me very happy. How come Iâm a small-time gangster? How come my daughter is rotten from head to toe?â
Sue: â?????â
Samuel, who was also scared to death beside her: â?????â
They both looked at Karl, with question marks appearing in their minds at the same time: âHuh?
Just when they were both totally confused about what was going on, Tanyaâs voice was heard. âIâm not your daughter!â Karl immediately stopped paying attention to Sue. She didnât move her hand away either, so the gun was still pointed at her, making her afraid to move.
Karl panicked and said, âTanya, Daddy knows heâs wrong now! Jill has tricked me. She told me that Hillary was my daughterâ¦.. Thatâs why I helped her with the trial!â
Sue: â?????â
Samuel: â????â
They both felt they might be mishearing things due to age.
What did Karl just say?
Samuel swallowed hard and asked, âMr. Moore, what do you mean?â
Karl, who was very concerned that his daughter refused to acknowledge him, immediately replied angrily, âWhat I am saying is that Tanya is my daughter and I am her father! I will fight anyone who dares to intimidate my daughter, to the death!â.
Samuel: â!!!!â
When Sue heard the words âto the deathâ and saw the barrel of the gun again, her eyes suddenly rolled back in shock and she fainted, her lower body all wet.
However, no one was paying attention to that at the time.
Karl was anxious to recognize his daughter, but Tanya had a complex look on her face. He couldnât accept it right away.
As the two looked at each other, the butler at the door came back in. With a complicated look on his countenance, he looked at Tanya and said, âMiss Turner, Mrs. Jones is here. Sheâs at the door and insists that you come out.â
Tanya frowned.
She glanced at Karl before turning and walking out.
As soon as she reached the mansion gates, she saw Jill standing outside with a group of reporters.
Jill was holding a dagger to her neck. As soon as Tanya appeared, she yelled, âTanya, write and sign a pardon letter right now! Save Hillary and get her out of jail.â
Her eyes were cold. âEven though we have severed our ties as mother and daughter, it doesnât change the fact that I am still your mother. My blood runs through your veins. If you refuse to save Hillary, I will kill myself in front of you. Everyone is watching! You forced your mother to commit suicide! I want you to never be able to rest in peace for the rest of your life!â
As soon as she said that, a fervor ran through the reporters!
A mother committing suicide in front of her daughter?!
This was breaking news!
Everyone rushed with their cameras and pointed their microphones at Tanya.
âMiss Turner, what is your decision?â
âMiss Turner, are you really going to disregard your motherâs life?â
âIf she dies here, you will become the person responsible for leading her to her death, and you will definitely regret it in the future. Miss Turner, hurry up and grant her request!â
âMiss Turnerâ¦â
At the same time, there were also people making live broadcasts of the situation.
With a microphone in hand, a reporter turned to his live audience and said, âIâve heard that Tanyaâs mother has never treated her well since she was a child. But ultimately, she is still her mother and the person who gave birth to her. She gave Miss Turner life. Surely the mere fact that she didnât abandon Miss Turner, but nurtured and raised her until she became an adult, is enough for Miss Turner to give in, isnât it?â
People also commented on the live stream:
âThatâs it, Tanyaâs in big trouble now!â
âShe doesnât need a mother like that! I shouldnât forgive her, why should I forgive her?â
âWhat a horrible mother. But if Tanya doesnât save her, sheâll really become someone who killed her own mother. Regardless of the circumstances, she brought Tanya into the world!â
âWhat can she do now, can Tanya really watch her mother die in front of her?â
Even without looking at the comments, Jill seemed to know what people would say.
She glared at Tanya and brought the dagger even closer to her neck. Someone wanted to move closer to stop her, but she shouted, âDonât come any closer! If you come any closer, I will stab myself with the dagger.â
Her words made everyone stop.
Tanya looked at her.
In that instant, her heart was dead.
Look at that? That was her mother. For the sake of her other daughter, she was willing to threaten her with her own life.
Tanya closed her eyes. She felt like a beast trapped and forced into the most desperate of situations. What could she do?
In desperation, Karl and Nora left the mansion.
