Could he refuse his dutiful granddaughterâs request?
The answer was no.
Ianâs lips twitched as he looked at Joel.
The news that Justin was at the door was relayed to him by the butler as he entered. Cherry and Pete were completely unaware of it.
During dinner, Cherry even looked at the door curiously and asked, âWhy hasnât Dad come in yet?â
Ian said coldly, âHeâs probably busy with work.â
Cherry was still a little unhappy. âOkay~â
Ian took the opportunity to brainwash her. âItâs very irresponsible of a parent to ignore the kids when heâs busy. Letâs not love him anymore, okay?â
Cherryâs eyes widened as she heard this.
Then, she looked at Ian and replied, âGrandpa, I canât do that.â
Ian was curious. âWhy?â
Cherry sighed. âMomâs been busy sleeping since we were little. Itâs even more irresponsible. At least Dad spends twice as much time with me each day as Mom does!â
Ian: â!â
I had never seen the way Nora interacted with the two children. He hadnât expected that he would have to bring his daughter into this as well.
At that point, he could only forcefully change the subject. âYes, what I just said was just a test for you. I didnât expect our Cherry to be so smart. You really passed the grandfather test.â
Cherry immediately looked up and smiled. Her big black eyes swept past Pete. âPete, did you see that? Grandpa doesnât like Dad and wants to talk bad about him, Iâm the best! He canât even say anything about Dad!â
Pete: ââ¦â
He sighed quietly. He kept wondering, ever since Cherry came home, why the tyrant and that grandfather, who was rumored to be very serious, had become so childish.
Ian had kept it from Cherry and not told her.
Besides, he didnât feel guilty at all-how dare Justin secretly tell her that she must not like her Grandfatherly Sponsor?
However, now that Cherry had heard Joelâs words, Ian couldnât stop her. Otherwise, wouldnât he become a bad grandfather?
Ian could only say to the butler indignantly, âInvite him in.â
The butler looked at Joel and walked away with a smile.
Joel was now the Smithsâ boss. After all, Ian had been on his deathbed in the past and had not been concerned with family affairs at all.
However, Ianâs wish was Joelâs command.
When everyone saw how respectful Joel was to Ian, they didnât dare disrespect him either.
Soon Justin entered.
Wearing a black suit, he walked in with a firm step. After entering, he greeted Ian respectfully, âUncle Ian.â
Ian snorted and looked at Joel. âJoel, the guest is here. Treat him well.â
He seemed to want to ignore him.
Justin rubbed his nose awkwardly and looked at Cherry.
Cherry had already run excitedly and hugged his leg. âDad, why are you coming now, didnât you agree to sleep here tonight? Iâm still waiting for you to tuck me in.â
Saying this, Justin looked at Ian. Seeing Ianâs eyes twinkle, he chuckled softly and said, âYeah, Dad was busy with work.â
He did not expose Ianâs lie.
This made Ian feel a little better. Then, he saw Justin give him a mischievous look. âAs for sleeping with you tonightâ¦â
He shifted his eyes, with a look that waited for a response.
Ian coughed and looked at the butler. âHave you prepared the guest room?â
The butler held back his laughter. âIâve already prepared it. Itâs next to Miss Noraâs room. The room is very large and comfortable.â
Ever since Yvonne was arrested and Noraâs identity as Ianâs daughter was discovered, people in the family had accepted Nora as the eldest daughter.
Ian waved his hand. âAll right, Joel. Take the guest upstairs to take a look.â
Joel smiled, too. He let Mia play downstairs and took Justin upstairs. Halfway up, he looked at Tanya. âTanya, you come too.â
Tanya looked confused and unconsciously got up to follow him upstairs.
Ian couldnât help but say, âYou two just got together â arenât you being overly sensitive?â
Tanyaâs face couldnât help but turn red.
Joel coughed and smiled, âUncle Ian, please understand.â
Ian: ââ¦â
Why was this boyâs skin so thick!
When the three of them went upstairs, Justin didnât go to the guest room immediately.
Joel pointed to his study. âShall we talk in the study?â
Justin nodded. As they passed Noraâs room, he motioned for them to keep quiet and then gently opened the door.
The curtains in the room were drawn and the light was dim.
The temperature in the room had also been adjusted nicely. The woman in the bed was still asleep and not moving at all.
Justin went over to her and checked her breathing and pulse. After confirming that Nora was fine, he let out a sigh of relief.
He covered her with a blanket and went outside.
Watching him tiptoe as if afraid to wake Nora, Joel and Tanya, who were standing in the doorway, were speechless.
The corners of Tanyaâs mouth twitched. âMr. Hunt, Nora is sleeping very well. Even if the sky collapses, it probably wonât wake her up. You donât have to be so⦠Careful?â
Justin didnât mind. âItâs better to be quiet. Otherwise, sheâll hear the noise in her sleep.â
Tanya: ââ¦â
All right, he was of noble status. Whatever he said.
The three of them followed Joel into the study.
In the study.
The housekeeper, Lucy, had already prepared tea. Joel looked at Justin. âHave you had dinner?â
Justin looked at him silently.
Brother-in-law, I had come in during the lunch hour and stood outside the door. Didnât Joel know if Iâd had dinner or not?
Joel coughed. âGo fix some food for Mr. Hunt.â
Lucy nodded.
After Lucy left, Joel saw Justin drinking tea and couldnât help but ask anxiously, âTell me quickly. Whatâs wrong?â
Tanya looked at him in confusion.
Justin sipped a cup of tea before slowly saying, âMiss Tanya, you had a child overseas, didnât you?â
His words were like a tidal wave. Joel looked at Tanya in disbelief, only to see that Tanyaâs eyes had also widened in shock.
He clenched his fists tightly.
This was her secret-why had Justin said it out loud?
When he saw her like this, Joelâs mind instantly started racing.
He looked down and smiled bitterly.
So in the last five years Tanya had already had a boyfriend overseas?
However, he had no intention of blaming her.
After all, he had a daughter too, didnât he?
