As expected, he diverted Tanyaâs attention. âIs Nora hurt? How did she get injured? Was she busy all day yesterday because of this? What exactly happened? What email are you talking about?â
Seeing that she was no longer refusing to go to the Smithâs, Joel let out a silent sigh of relief. Then he slowly recounted what had happened the day before.
He didnât keep the truth from Tanya just because she wasnât part of his world.
Now that Tanya was going to be with him, he would have to face these issues sooner or later.
Hearing about the martial arts tournament, hearing how all of Quentinâs bones had been shattered, and hearing how Nora had challenged the Hall of Benevolence all by herself; Tanya scowled and ranting angrily. âThey went too far! Nora did very well to beat them all up! If I had practiced martial arts, I certainly would have gone with her to beat them up too!â
Then he asked Joel accusingly, âDid you help her?â
The corners of Joelâs lips spasmed. âI wanted to, but Justin stopped me.â
Tanya was taken aback.
Joel recalled the events of the previous day. When Nora had braved the Hall of Benevolence by herself the day before, he had wanted to go in to help, but Justin had stopped him.
Justin had told him, âShe has a lot of pent-up anger right now and needs to vent. Otherwise, sheâd feel really bad.â
So Justin had only kept Shaun busy in the arena so that Nora could kill him herself, and thus vent her anger.
Joel had been speechless at that moment.
The one who had been beaten was also his younger brother!!! He too had a whole load of pent up anger that he had nowhere to vent!!!!
However, it had still given him a chance to vent to Nora.
He had thought Tanya would praise him after explaining to him what had happened, but unexpectedly, Tanya instead said, âMr. Hunt did the right thing! Nora is not in good health. If she doesnât blow off steam, her health will suffer. Why are you fighting with her about it when youâre so strong and muscular?â
Joel: â???â
Suddenly, he felt that his status in the family in the future was now clear at a glance.
Tanya then asked, âCan Quentin really not stand up anymore?â
Joelâs expression darkened at the question. âThatâs what Lily said. Iâve contacted every orthopedic specialist in the country, as well as the Huntsâ medical experts last night, but they all said they couldnât do anything about it after coming in and seeing Quentinâs condition.â
Tanya, however, didnât quite agree. âIn my opinion, that doesnât have to be the case.â
Joel was surprised.
Tanya then said, âAsk Nora when she wakes up! Only she can give you the most accurate answer.â
Joel was puzzled. âWhy do you say that?â
Tanya was silent for a while before finally answering, âSomeone once broke my leg when I was overseas. All the doctors said the bones were shattered, so I wonât be able to dance again. It was Nora who healed me.â
Joel was surprised by her calm voice.
Joel had always known that Tanyaâs life overseas for the past five years had not been smooth. However, he had never known that someone had broken her leg.
He suddenly thought how deeply desperate Tanya, who loved to dance so much, must have been when she was told she could no longer dance.
But what had she been doing at the time?
He had probably been busy changing his daughterâs diapers at home.
It was Nora who had stayed by Tanyaâs side, healed her and given her hope at that moment!
When Joel thought about that, he suddenly felt that he still wasnât treating Nora well enough. He should treat her even better.
In the midst of his thoughts, Tanya asked, âBy the way, what e-mail were you talking about just now?â
Joel smiled and replied, âI donât know. Before he fell asleep, he looked at me and said something about his email inbox. He didnât say what was in it, though.â
Tanya instantly curved her lips in disdain. âSure, to think he canât even transmit information properly! Besides, how are we supposed to know what his email account password is? Geez.â
The two arrived at the Smithâs house as they spoke.
The car had just passed through the gates when they noticed a small van parked out front. A few nurses and medical staff got out of the van and carefully helped Ian down.
Ian was very weak. He had just returned from the jaws of death, so he couldnât even walk. After getting out of the van, the medical staff helped him into a wheelchair.
Joel got quite a shock and exchanged a look with Tanya. He hurried to stop the car, walked over and yelled, âUncle Ian! Why are you back?â
Ian then noticed him. He sounded a little weak, but he went on and said, âHow can you keep it from me when something so serious has happened! I canât rest quietly in the hospital when Nora is still unconscious, So Iâve decided to come back to take a look at her!â
Joel looked at those standing next to Ian.
Ian immediately said, âDonât look at them. I sensed something was wrong because Quentin didnât visit after so long, so I forced them to talk.â
Since he knew Nora was his daughter, he had given special instructions to Quentin to follow Nora every day, and also to give him a report of everyone else who followed her.
When Quentin simply didnât show up the day before, he had immediately sensed something. The people around him were absolutely no match for the wily old fox, so he had easily sounded them out.
Upon learning that Quentin had been hospitalized, he rushed to go visit him.
Quentin had not yet woken up. Given the severity of his injuries, he wouldnât wake up for some time either.
After visiting Quentin, he worried that the news about how Nora was sleeping was just his way of trying to comfort him. Therefore, he had forcibly asked to return home. He could only be reassured when he saw Nora with his own eyes.
Ian had always been a stubborn man. Joel knew that no one around him could dissuade him from something he wanted to do.
It was as if no one could do anything for him when he was determined to die.
Once he made up his mind, decisions and beliefs tended to last a lifetime.
Take Yvette, for example.
Joel said no more. At that moment, Tanya approached with Mia in her arms. When Ian glanced over and saw that it was Tanya, he let out a sound of surprise and asked, âIs that girl back in the States?â
Tanya had often visited the Smiths when she was dating Joel back then, so it was only natural that Ian would know her.
Tanya greeted him respectfully. âHi, Uncle Ian.â
Ian nodded her hello. Then he looked at Joel and said, âAlthough you and I are not father and son, we have very similar personalities. This child has stayed single all these years because he was waiting for you.â Next, Ian looked at Tanya and added, âRemember him, girl!â.
After he said that, apparently because he had been thinking to himself, a contemplative look formed in his eyes.
Tanya looked at Joel, who had blushed a little.
To outsiders, he was the Head of the Smiths whom everyone feared. But in Ianâs eyes, he would always be a subordinate. Heâd even call him âkidââ¦..
Joel touched his nose.
Tanya, who had sensed how embarrassed he was, smiled and nodded. âOkay.â
With Joel pushing the wheelchair and Tanya carrying Mia in her arms, the four of them headed for the living room.
Ian, however, suddenly became nervous. âNoraâs little girl is home too, isnât she? Itâs the first time weâve gotten together-should I get her a present or something?â
The thought had just formed when a familiar voice, young and tender, approached from the living room.
âJumbo, doesnât your name actually start with a âDâ? Do you really know how to play.
What, stop insulting you? Is it because I keep insulting people that Grandfather Sponsor has stopped coming to my live broadcasts?â
