Screeeeeeech!
Nora drove the jeep as if it were a sports car and hurried to the Hunt Corporationâs Finest Hospital. She went straight to the VIP operating room.
Quentin had been placed on a gurney and was being wheeled into the operating room.
Although the man was now in his mid-twenties, perhaps because he had been living in the shadows all year, he was pale and had the appearance of a young teenager.
However, the eyes of the man, who had an eighth-grade syndrome and whose chin was always upturned, were closed. His long eyelashes were covered with crusty blood.
His arms and legs on both sides of his body were bent in a strange way. At first glance it was evident that someone had broken his bones.
The manâs chest did not move as he lay there, as if he was no longer breathing.
Nora could not catch her breath at that moment. She slowly approached him.
âHeâs still alive.â
Justin repeated what he had said on the phone. However, those three words were only a reflection of his current state.
Nora knew without even looking that all the bones in Quentinâs limbs were probably broken. Blood stains on his chest also indicated that several of his ribs were broken.
The young man was merely lying there, but his appearance made the hearts of everyone present break.
Noraâs jaw tensed. As she took step after step and approached, she practically shouted, âWho did this?â
Justin said, âWe donât have any proof.â
They all knew damn well who had done it, but since Abigail had had the guts to do it, that meant she had already done all the prep work and left no trace.
Nora clenched her fists.
At that moment, Joel, who had been informed, also rushed over. When he saw Quentin, a murderous intent instantly filled the manâs eyes.
Was the reason Joel didnât always carry eighteen bodyguards when he went out as Justin that he wasnât in as much danger as he was?
Of course he wasnât!
As heads of the two most important families in New York, Joel and Justin had equal status and power. He had affected so many peopleâs sources of income over the years that one couldnât even keep count anymore.
The people who wanted him dead were everywhere!
The only reason he could be so calm despite that was that he had Quentin secretly protecting him!
Quentin was a member of the Smithsâ secret forces, but he was also one of the brothers he trusted the most!
Joel stared at him. Then suddenly he looked at Nora and said, âSave him first. Weâll talk later.â
âYes.â
Considering how bad his injuries were, they were lucky Nora was here, Because normal doctors wouldnât have been able to treat his wounds at all! Nora took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
She tried to tell herself to stay calm.
Her hands, which were shaking with anger, gradually regained their firmness. Her breathing also gradually stabilized.
Two minutes later, she finally snapped her eyes open and said directly to Joel, âTell my medical team to come right away!â.
Only the most professional staff could treat injuries as serious as Quentinâs!
Quentin had top priority now!
Joel nodded.
Nora had already taken the lead and entered the operating room.
Quentin had broken bones all over his body and was in a severe coma. If they didnât fix his joints and clear the congested blood in his chest in time, Quentinâs life would be in danger!
In the operating room.
When Lily entered, she saw her stony-faced boss operating on the patient in earnest.
On the ECG monitor on the side, the patientâs heart rate had already dropped to 40â¦. 38⦠The ECG was sending warning beeps.
âThe patientâs heart rate is dropping!â
Exclaimed the unresponsive young nurse next door.
However, they couldnât perform CPR on Quentin because his ribs were broken. If they applied more pressure there, the broken bones could pierce his heart.
âItâs uselessâ¦â
Murmured the doctor next door.
Lily was also shocked. He was the most severely injured patient she had ever seen. He looked like he had been hit by a truck. There was probably no part of him that wasnât injured.
This was certainly the toughest challenge in Antiâs career so far!
Nora ignored them all. Instead, she ordered, âLily, the cardiotonic drug!â
Lily finally came to her senses. She pulled out the cardiotonic drug her boss had developed and injected it into the drip bottle. The cardiotonic drug she was using was different from the one usually used in hospitals.
As soon as she injected the drug into the bottle, Quentinâs heartbeat stabilized at 40â¦.
As Nora made incision after incision and tended to his wounds, Quentinâs blood slowly trickled out of the wounds. Lily opened two other blood transfusion channels in time.
Bags of blood were constantly being sent to the blood bank at Finest Hospital.
After the operation, when Lily calculated the amount of blood, she discovered that they had actually changed all the blood in Quentinâs body twice.
Quentin also went into critical condition five times during the operation, but Nora calmly brought him out of the other world each time! She made countless incisions and joined countless bones together for him.
Countless metal pins were driven into Quentinâs bones to hold them in place.
The operation lasted from nine in the morning until half past ten at nightâ¦..
Thanks to Noraâs solid skills, Quentin managed to survive.
However, he was still not out of danger. After leaving the operating room, he was placed in the ICU, where hospital staff monitored his condition 24 hours a day.
When Nora finally came out of the operating room, she was on the verge of fainting.
Sweat was pouring from the unbreathable surgical gown at the bottom. Her pants were soaked and her shoes were wet. It all showed that she hadnât really been as calm and relaxed as she looked.
As soon as she came out, Justin grabbed her arm and supported her.
He made her sit on a bench in the hallway and gave her a chocolate bar with a loaf of bread to quickly replenish her energy.
Nora took off her gloves, picked up the bread with fingers that had turned pale from being soaked with sweat, and chewed ferociously.
Joel was directing his men to surround the Hall of Benevolence. However, Abigail had called the police, so the police were protecting them for the time being. Unless the Smiths could produce evidence, they were not allowed to do anything rash.
Joel pounded his fist against the wall. âHow dare you, how dare you?â
No one dared offend the Smiths or the Hunts in New York, especially in ways like this that tortured one to death!
Angry Justin was also puzzled.
Truth be told, when Nora had asked him back in the day if Quentin would die, he had replied, âNo, he wonât. If they just want to win the tournament, itâs enough to break Quentinâs leg. There is no need for them to create any extra trouble. If they kill him, this would become a life and death dispute.â
But based on Quentinâs appearance, the Hall of Benevolence had clearly shown no mercy!
Justin was also terribly perplexed, because Quentinâs injuries didnât seem to want to kill him. Rather, it looked more like⦠He was being interrogated!
Thatâs right, these kinds of tricks were only used when interrogating criminals!
Breaking oneâs bones centimeter by centimeter to make them talk?
Just as he and Joel were puzzled, Nora looked at them and said, âI know whatâs going on.â
Both men looked at Nora.
Nora swallowed the last bite of bread. The bread tore at her throat, but it was as if she didnât feel it at all.
âWhen I was trying to save Quentin, he woke up for a moment and said a few words to me.â
