Lily was very quick and efficient.
Nora was about to open her email inbox when suddenly there was a violent banging on the door.
Nora was startled.
Pete slid out of bed and ran to open the door. It was Joel.
A bewildered Pete asked, âWhatâs wrong, Uncle Joel?â
Joel was aware that Nora was always sleepy, and needed twelve hours of sleep a day. Why would he come to disturb her rest when it was only seven oâclock in the morning?
Joel asked, âIs your mom awake? Can you wake her up? I need to talk to her about something very important.â
Nora, who had also realized the urgency of the matter, quickly changed and came over. âWhat is it, Joel?â
Joel frowned at the sight of her. He asked, âQuentinâs missing â have you asked him to do anything for you?â
Noraâs heart sank.
She finally understood why Joel had come so early in the morning.
A grave look came over his countenance. âI didnât, but he went to the tournament arena last night.â
At that moment he picked up his phone, on which he saw the two messages Quentin had sent him past eleven oâclock the night before. However, the two messages gave her no clue.
She frowned. âCould he be resting somewhere?â
âNo.â
Joel spoke with assurance. âQuentinâs identity is special. Not many people know of his existence. Since he only comes into contact with people in the Smithsâ secret forces, and everything he does is dangerous, he has to report his itinerary to me promptly every day. When I did not receive his report this morning, I knew immediately that something had gone wrong. It was only when I contacted the secret forces people that I learned that Quentin had already lost contact with them the night before.â
The night beforeâ¦
Nora wanted to ask more questions, but Joel had turned and gone downstairs. âIâm going to the arena.â
Nora didnât dare waste time. She took the baseball cap that hung to the side and put it on. Then she grabbed a mask and followed him down the stairs.
A man was standing respectfully downstairs. He looked relatively young, but he had an anxious expression on his face at the time. When he saw Joel coming down the stairs, he asked anxiously, âMr. Smith, is there any news about the chief?â
Joel shook his head.
Nora, however, paused slightly. By calling him âbossââ¦.
He must be Quentinâs subordinate.
She immediately asked, âWhen did Quentin last contact you?â.
The subordinate replied, âAt eleven oâclock last night. After I told him that I had to inform him of something, the boss said he would come immediately. I waited and waited, but he didnât show up. Where did he go?â.
Nora frowned. âHas this happened before?â
Both Joel and the subordinate replied, âNever!â
Although Quentin seemed to have eighth grade syndrome, he was actually a very responsible man at heart. Otherwise, he would not have served the Smiths as a shadow hiding in the dark for so many years.
He handled things carefully and cautiously, he had never made a mistake in all these years.
But the more he was like that, the more Noraâs heart sank.
To be honest, she hoped Quentin had just irresponsibly gone to an Internet cafe for fun, or hidden away somewhere to sleep.
She took a deep breath and exchanged a look with Joel. He said, âLetâs split up and look for him.â
Joel nodded.
Nora left the mansion and headed straight for the arena. At the same time, she made a call to the Quinn School of Martial Arts. It was Lucas, the Quinn Martial Arts Schoolâs general manager, who answered. He said, âLooking for me so early, Big Sister? What a rare occasion this isâ¦â
But before he could finish, Nora had already interrupted him. She ordered him, âGather everyone at the Quinn School of Martial Arts and launch a citywide search for Quentin! Aka Smithin of the tournament!â
Lucas was taken aback. âWhat happened?â
Nora replied, âI suspect something has happened to him.â
Lucasâ voice immediately became grave. She said promptly and decisively, âUnderstood.â
Lucas then said, âI will also contact the martial arts association and ask their staff to look for him. Also, there are a lot of people participating in the tournament. Someone may have seen somethingâ¦â
âOkay. Let me know if you find out anything. Keep your phone reachable at all times.â
âUnderstood.â
After hanging up, Nora thought for a moment and called Justin.
New York was the Smithsâ and the Huntsâ territory.
All the Smiths were already looking for Quentin. If the Hunts sent their men too, they would have an even better chance of finding Quentin.
He wasnât going to worry about embarrassing the Smiths or the Hunts at a time like this.
Justin took the call quickly. He was probably wide awake. He also didnât sound as mocking as usual. Instead, his voice was low and deep as he asked earnestly, âWhatâs up?â
The fact that Nora had awakened so early was indicative that something must be wrong.
For some reason, Nora calmed down at the sound of his voice. She stared straight ahead and slowly replied, âQuentin is missing.â
Without a doubt, Justin was one of the few who knew of Quentinâs existence.
Also, Justin and Quentin had fought side by side many times, so he was even more familiar with him than other people.
Justin didnât say anything unnecessary. He immediately said, âDonât worry, Iâll send everyone after him right away.â
âYes.â
After Nora responded, she hesitated for a moment and became quiet.
Justin asked, âDo you suspect anything?â
Nora nodded, eyes staring straight ahead, stunned. âHe disappeared at the tournament, but there are very few there who can beat him in a fight. He was most likely kidnapped by people from the Hall of Benevolence.â
Hearing that, Justin immediately said, âIâll head to the Hall of Benevolence and ask about him!â.
âOkay.â
At this point, Nora hesitated for a moment before finally asking hoarsely, âWill he be â¦. okay?â
If the Hall of Benevolence wanted the title of champion in the tournament, it could simply attack any of the members of Team Third in the World when they were alone!
This was what Nora concluded after analyzing the situation.
She suddenly became a little scared.
She was afraid that something might really happen to Quentinâ¦.
After all, it had already been a whole night.
When he thought about it, he said, âLast night he asked me to accompany him to observe the meeting, but I didnâtâ¦â
For the first time, she hated the way she needed to sleep so badly, which led her to not be by his side.
Perhaps because he could sense what she was thinking, Justin said, âThe three of us arenât joined at the hip. There will always be times when weâre alone.â
Nora knew this, but she couldnât convince herself otherwise.
She stared straight ahead, bloodthirsty murderous intent forming in her eyes. âIf anything happens to Quentin, Iâll make the Hall of Benevolence pay for it in blood!â
Justin did not comfort her. He merely said, âIâll do it with you.â
Half an hour after all her forces were deployed.
Nora finally received a call from Justin. âWe found him.â
His voice was so low that Noraâs heart sank. For some reason, anxiety surged through her.
Her voice practically trembled as she asked, âWhere is he? Is he â¦. alive?â
