Daydreaming…

Tanya looked into the kitchen and felt like she was actually dreaming.

When he had sadly left five years ago, she thought she would never have the chance to be with this man in her life. This man was going to disappear from her life.

Who would have thought that five years later, he would be cooking for her?

As Tanya thought, Hillary’s voice was heard again. “Why aren’t you saying anything, are you really going to degrade yourself to be a third wheel and come between us? Let me tell you, you’d better go back to Switzerland. Joel chose me five years ago, I’m sure he’ll choose me again. When that time comes, what dignity will you have left?”

As she spoke, Joel had already left the kitchen.

The villa was very quiet, and there were no car horns around.

Joel had heard the voice on the phone from the beginning.

He looked at Tanya.

Tanya was looking at him, too. The slender girl stood there, her body a little thin from dancing for a long time.

She looked at Joel with her deep eyes and suddenly raised her eyebrows. “You said I’m the third wheel, may I ask, Mr. Smith, what is your relationship with Mrs. Hillary now?”

As soon as he said this, Hillary’s voice stopped. Then, however, she sneered. “What are you doing, you think you can scare me like that? Let me tell you, I’m with Joel. If you want to talk to him, I can help you pass on the message…”

In the midst of his jabbering, Joel’s originally furious eyes froze for a moment as they met Tanya’s. All his anger seemed to dissipate with a wicked smile on his lips.

He took a step forward and said, “I have nothing to do with Mrs. Hillary. The engagement has been broken off. Miss Tanya, what kind of stewed noodles would you like to have, tomato eggs or green pepper pork?”

The voice on the phone went silent instantly.

Hillary: “!!!”

The whole village fell silent. Tanya smiled and said, “Green pepper pork. But no ginger, you remember my preferences, right?”.

Joel nodded. “Of course. Just wait ten minutes.”

With that, he looked at the phone. Just as he was about to return to the kitchen, Hillary smirked. “Tanya, are you lying to me, how can Joel cook? I’ve been with him for five years, but I’ve never seen him cook! He can’t cook at all! Did you find someone with a similar voice to infuriate me? I tell you, I’m not falling for that.”

Tanya remembered how Hillary had deliberately kicked her out of the restaurant and taken a picture of her to post on her Facebook. She wasn’t surprised by his thinking.

She just smiled and turned on the camera suddenly. He picked up the phone and pointed it at Joel. “Look, let me show you. The man I’m looking at not only has a voice similar to Joel’s, but his looks are very similar too!”

His voice was full of mockery.

When Hillary saw that Joel was wearing an apron, she was stunned.

She had stayed with the Smiths for five years. Joel had never allowed her into his room, and whenever she saw him, he was always the haughty, powerful leader who could shake up the New York economic scene at the flick of a finger.

Since when was that man willing to fall from grace and set about doing housework?

Besides, he was carrying a tomato in one hand and a green bell pepper in the other – he was clearly cooking!

When Tanya turned on the camera, he looked up.

His clear eyes, always smiling, suddenly became suddenly sharp as he stared into the camera.

He said calmly, “Mrs. Hillary, is there anything else?”

Tanya looked at the camera and saw the camera on Hillary’s side suddenly shake and fall to the floor. Her hands must have been weak from shock.

This woman had been like this since she was young. She was a bitch who took advantage of the tiger’s power and was extremely hypocritical.

Tanya didn’t bother talking to her anymore and hung up.

She laughed softly. She looked up and noticed that Joel had not entered the kitchen, but was staring at her.

The man was wearing a white shirt and apron, looking the same as he had five years ago.

Tanya suddenly realized that the five years abroad seemed to have lost their sense of distance.

As she thought, she saw Joel’s eyes gradually become deep and warm, making her heart pound.

He hurriedly looked away and said, “There are still eight minutes left!”.

Only then did Joel withdraw his gaze and nod.

When he left, Tanya hurried to caress his chest and cheeks.

She had to keep her wits about her.

He couldn’t be lured by her stunning beauty!

Eight minutes later, the noodles were ready.

Tanya went upstairs and had already changed into her casual house clothes. Looking at the two steaming bowls of noodles on the dining room table, she picked up her fork. Just as she was about to eat, she heard Joel say, “Wait a minute.”

She paused and realized that Joel had brought a bottle of hot sauce.

Tanya stared at the bottle and suddenly thought of a time five years ago.

Back then, she was still in college. Since her mother’s living expenses were not enough, she often had to cook for herself.

Noodles were her favorite.

However, at that time she only had one pot, so it was inconvenient to sauté vegetables. Therefore, on each occasion she would add a sufficient amount of noodles and vegetables before adding the hot sauce.

Joel had always known this habit of his.

In the last five years, after he went abroad, he liked eating the least. Occasionally, she felt like eating noodles, but without hot sauce, it was like something was missing.

While she was in a daze, Joel opened the bottle and handed it to her.

She took a big spoonful and put it in the bowl of noodles. The thick sauce immediately floated over her and the fragrance spread.

She picked up some noodles with her fork and took a bite eagerly, but was stunned.

She slowly looked at the hot sauce bottle.

The packaging had already changed.

As for the taste of the sauce, although it was still her favorite flavor, it was no longer the same as before.

For some reason, her heart suddenly sank.

A decomposed mood instantly attacked her, making her head drop.

Indeed.

In five years, everything familiar had changed.

Nothing was just sitting there waiting for her.

It was like losing her son.

Even if she had returned to the country and she and Joel were still the same as they had been five years ago, this fact could not be hidden.

She became depressed.

Joel looked at her and panic rose in his heart. He asked carefully, “What’s wrong, the noodles don’t taste good?”

A tear fell into the bowl.

Tanya looked up suddenly.. “There’s something I have to tell you.”
