Chapter 375

It seemed that he had suffered some sort of injustice.

Warren was aware that Yvonne had been stripped of her authority to run the house. When he heard what she said, he unconsciously assumed it was Maureen fighting with her over a dress.

Surprised, he looked toward Maureen and asked, “What dress are you talking about, my dear?”

He held Maureen and pulled her aside. “Now I get it. It’s tailoring time again today, isn’t it? Are you mad again?”

For the past few years, the aggressive Maureen always got angry once a year.

After Warren found out, he always went out of his way to make her happy during those days. He would take her shopping or take her on a vacation abroad.

gαℓησν𝒆𝓁s․com, your source for inspiration He would unconsciously try to persuade her and say, “Didn’t we already agree? Everything will be fine when you marry into another family. After that, you will have the biggest voice in the family. And then you can choose all the clothes you want. Your marriage to the Hunts has already fizzled out, so your future husband’s family definitely won’t be as good as the Smith’s. What’s the point of fighting with her over a dress…?”

“What’s the point of fighting with her over a dress?”…?

That sentence of hers made Maureen feel even more aggrieved.

Even though someone had harassed her at home, she still thought to be considerate of her husband and son, but what about her husband? All he did was take his sister’s side in everything!

Maureen glared at Warren. This time she was really hurt. She said, “You think I’d get mad just because of a dress?”

Warren scratched his head.

As a man with a low IQ, he really was quite dense when it came to how girls thought.

Beside them, Yvonne said, “Don’t lose your temper with Warren, Maureen. I already said I’d let you have that dress….. It was my fault. I should have realized you liked that dress and not taken it for myself…”

His hypocritical words left Maureen so speechless that she couldn’t say anything.

However, Warren actually believed her. He approached Yvonne and said, “Since you’re so generous, I won’t be formal, Yvonne. Haha, how about this? I’ll take you clothes shopping tomorrow, okay?”.

Yvonne smiled and replied, “You are very formal if you say that, Warren. We’re a family; you should give in to Maureen once in a while.”

“… You’re the sensible one, after all. Don’t take Maureen to heart.”

Nora glared at Yvonne. Her two-faced demeanor in front of the Smith men was no longer anything surprising to her.

She simply thought Yvonne looked very laughable at the moment.

Maureen, however, was furious. It was clear that it had been Yvonne who had snatched her dress, but now she looked like the insensitive one!

Red-eyed, she shouted angrily, “Warren Smith!”

Warren immediately looked at her sheepishly. “Darling… What’s the matter? The dress is yours now, why…are you still unhappy?”

Maureen was so angry that her chest rose and fell.

She glared at Yvonne and sneered, “You really have a particular way of messing people up, don’t you?”

Yvonne lowered her head. “Are you still upset, Maureen? In that case, is it okay with you if I give you all the clothes I picked out?”

The EQ-less Warren nodded immediately. “Yes, it will do! My dear, look how Yvonne has already relented. As they say, harmony in the family brings prosperity. Let’s let this matter go…”

Maureen: “!!!”

She was so angry she couldn’t say anything. Her finger was shaking as she stared and pointed at Yvonne. Then, she pointed at Warren. “You’d rather believe her than me?”

Warren scratched his head. “No, it’s not a question of who I believe or what. Weren’t we talking about clothes, dear? How did it become a question of who believes me? You’ve totally confused me.”

Yvonne sighed as well. “We’re family, Maureen. If you’re still dissatisfied, is it all right with you if I apologize?”

Maureen replied, “I’m not worthy of your apology! After all, this is your house and you are the Smiths’ oldest daughter. Didn’t you just say that Warren and I are outsiders?”

Warren looked at Yvonne in instant disbelief.

Yvonne panicked. “What are you saying, Maureen, it’s not just an article of clothing, how did it come to this?”

She looked at Warren and hastened to explain, “I think Maureen is being overly sensitive and overthinking things. Warren, I’ve always seen and treated you as my brother all these years! Dad has also said that I’m the only daughter at home, so you’re all my family!”

Warren frowned. He looked at Yvonne and then at Maureen.

Maureen was not one to make unfounded accusations. Since she had said it, there was no doubt that Yvonne had said it. However, Yvonne was also someone reliable who looked at the big picture usually, so how could she say something like that?

As he hesitated, Yvonne said, “Of all my siblings in the family, I’m the closest to Warren. I know you’re suddenly making a scene because Joel doesn’t love me anymore, but still, you can’t sow discord between Warren and me like that!”

Sow discord?

Maureen grew even angrier. “In that case, do you dare repeat what you just said when you were fighting with me over the clothes downstairs, Yvonne?”

Yvonne frowned. “What did I say? Maureen, I really don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Maureen felt like she was about to explode.

She had always been a direct person. What she hated most were hypocritical bitches like her.

It was at that moment that a soft voice reached them. “Tsk.”

The three people who were arguing immediately turned and saw Nora.

She curved her lips in disdain and said to Yvonne, “I didn’t expect you to have such a bad memory. Have you already forgotten what you said a moment ago?”

Warren immediately looked at Yvonne.

Yvonne narrowed her eyes but remained calm. She let out a big sigh and said, “Nora, I know you got in trouble because Madame Florence took the pill from my room, but you can’t just make up lies about me like that!”

Practically right after saying that, a voice is suddenly heard from Nora’s phone.

“I might like to collect red clothes, right.

So what, even if I don’t wear them and keep them all in the closet?

As the Smiths’ eldest daughter, surely I have a right to be a little stubborn, don’t I?”

Is it me who shouldn’t go too far, or is it someone else who should practice some self-awareness as an outsider living under someone else’s roof? Maureen, do you really think you’re one of the house ladies just because you and Warren are living here? The Smiths already split up and formed their own families long ago! My father is the real Lord of the Smiths! You’re all just people who have left the main family! You’re all just! Taking! One more time! Temporarily! Residence! Here!

Joel isn’t Dad’s adopted son either. I’m Dad’s only legitimate daughter! You’re all bullying me because Dad is sick, so no one can defend me, right?”

“…”

Yvonne’s voice came through clearly on the audio recording.

Nora curved her lips in disdain and looked at a stunned Yvonne. Her lips curved into a smile.

Did they really think she would allow Yvonne to behave in such an arrogant manner at the Smith mansion? She had done nothing so far just because these recordings were more than enough to expose her true colors to the Smith brothers!!!!!
