Angelaâs eyes sparkled with mischief.
Everyone was congratulating her and cursing that fat fucker, But was that little bitch Lisa really saying that Noraâs facial features werenât ugly?
Hah.
Angela was about to pass the photo to Lisa when suddenlyâ¦. A cool, fair, slender arm reached over and took it from her.
As she watched, Nora casually balled the photo up and grabbed Angela by the hair. When the latter opened her mouth to scream in pain, she shoved the photo in her mouth!
Her actions were as deft and smooth as butter.
Only when she tasted the bitter, unpleasant taste in her mouth did Angela finally react. She was about to spit it out when she heard a low, indifferent voice. âA bet is a bet, Angela.â
Angelaâs movements suddenly froze dramatically and she looked at her as if she had just seen a ghost.
The girl was wearing a simple white shirt with jeans, which made her legs look long and her waist slender.
She wore her hair tied back casually and a few insignificant locks covered her neck. Her skin was as smooth as silk and she was clean and clear. All of her was incomparably beautiful.
However, that familiar voiceâ¦
Seeing the situation, the others gathered around. One boy frowned. âWho the hell are you, beautiful? Angela is Mr. Grayâs fiancée! Arenât you afraid of offending the Grays?â.
Nora ignored him and helped Lisa up. Seeing that the condition of her eyes was not too serious although they had turned red, she whispered, âGo rinse your eyes with clean water.â
Lisa bit her lip and called out with some uncertainty, âAre you Nora?â
âYes.â
ââ¦â
Everyone was stunned. They stared at her in disbelief.
Someone spoke unconsciously. âIs that fat girl really this stunning after losing weight?â
They all looked at Angela again. She was actually quite beautiful and you could say she was quite spectacular. She had always been proud of the way she looked. However, at that moment, standing next to Nora, she seemed a little off.
The look on both of their faces made Angela feel as if she had been slapped a few times on the cheek, and her face was burningâ¦.
She had deliberately told the fat girl to go back and call off the engagement during her birthday party, just so everyone would see that she, Angela, was much more beautiful than Nora.
But now, she had become the joke!
âWhat happened?â
Noraâs father walked up with his current wife. When he saw Nora, he was shocked. Startled, he shouted, âNora?â
Was his eldest daughter really so beautiful after having lost weight?
The light in Angelaâs eyes flickered at the sight. Suddenly, she burst into tears and took the photo from her mouth. âNora, I know youâre upset about Anthony breaking his engagement to you. You can keep hitting meâ¦â
Her sobs brought her father back to reality, and he reached out to strike Nora without warning. âNora! Anthony breaks off his engagement to you because of your immoral behavior and premarital pregnancy. You were the one who didnât know what he was doing, what does your sister have to do with this?â
Nora felt the bottom of her heart grow cold.
Five years ago, her biased fatherâs heartlessness had completely broken her heart.
She was about to avoid the slap when her stepmother, Wendy Simpson, unexpectedly stepped forward and stopped her father. âThere are a lot of people watching, Henry. Donât forget the most important matter.â
The most important matterâ¦
Henry Smith suppressed his anger and spat, âCome upstairs with me!â.
In the studio.
Henry, Wendy and Angela sat together.
Nora sat across from them. She leaned against the couch, her eyelids drooping, making her look like a defiant madwoman who despised everything. However, anyone who knew her would know she was just sleepy.
Henry got straight to the point. âNora, the Grays have agreed to annul the engagement, and your sister is also going to marry the Grays. Today is your sisterâs birthday, why donât you give her the company your mother left as a wedding and birthday present?â
Angela said enthusiastically, âYour premarital pregnancy has embarrassed the Smiths, and also made the Grays the subject of ridicule for so many years. Take it youâre making it up to us by giving me the company.â
Henry threw down the contract he had prepared beforehand and ordered, âThis is a transfer of ownership agreement. Sign it.â
Noraâs eyes were cold.
It was clear that the Smiths had been the ones who did not want to void the engagement because they wanted to move up the social ladder. The Greys had also refused to annul it for some reason. But now it was all her fault?
Besides, everything the Smiths owned had been left to them by their mother? Not only were they hogging the house, but now they werenât planning to skimp even on the companyâ¦.
Their insatiable greed was disgusting.
He looked up slightly and said coldly, âNo.â
Like a cat with its tail stepped on, Angela shouted sharply, âNora, what do you mean by that?â.
Nora looked outside: it was getting late. She wanted to go back to sleep with Cherry, so she cut to the chase and said, âCancel the engagement, okay. Wedding gift, no.â
Then she got up and went outside.
âStay there, Nora!â shouted Henry angrily. Unfortunately, Nora turned a deaf ear.
When she reached the porch, Angela came chasing after her and blocked her way. âTell me, Nora, donât you have any intention of calling off the engagement because you canât bear to give up Anthony?â
Nora found her annoying. âGet out of the way.â
âSo thatâs really what youâre thinking! Youâre so shameless!â
Angela reached up and directed her hand toward her face arrogantly and unreasonably!
The next moment, however, Nora held her by the wrist.
Unable to let go, a nervous and exasperated Angela cursed angrily, âDonât you dare think Anthony will change his mind and come back to you just because youâve become beautiful! Heâll never marry a tainted woman like you, who has bastard children, no matter what. Oh, and by the way, why didnât you bring that bastard child of unknown father?â
Slap!
With all her might, Nora returned a relentless slap of her own.
Her pupils were pitch black and she looked like a demon coming out of hell. âCherry is not a bardic child. If I hear you talking nonsense again, I wonât hold back.â
After leaving a warning, he turned and walked away.
Angelaâs cheek stung fiercely. She widened her eyes in shock and was so frightened that she seemed to have forgotten to even cry.

Neon lights twinkled in the California night.
Nora sat in the cab with her eyes closed and resting. The light flickered on her face, glowing and dimming erratically, conveying a sense of loneliness.
Unknown father⦠Little bastard sonâ¦
These two sentences made her sigh wistfully.
It was still a mystery how she had become pregnant five years ago. She had no idea who Cherryâs father was.
âHere we are.â The cab driverâs voice interrupted Noraâs thoughts.
She had just gotten out and entered the hotel when a row of bodyguards suddenly stepped out in front of her and pulled her to one side. âPlease step aside!â
Many of the people stopped speculated under their breath:
âWhy is Mr. Hunt coming out if itâs already so late?â
âI heard the Huntâs only grandchild wanted mousse cakeâ¦â
As Nora reached up to yawn, she immediately saw a tall, noble figure striding out of the elevator with a child of about five or six in his arms.
The man kept his gaze steady as he advanced. As he passed Nora, however, he stopped suddenly. He glared at her and said in a deep voice, âMiss Smithâ¦â.
Nora stopped mid-yawn.
