“Damn, it smells so strong!”

Tanya spoke brazenly and unreservedly. “The scent of my favorite perfume has been totally overwhelmed!”

Nora looked at her. “That’s why I said we should do it outdoors. You were the one who insisted on doing it indoors…”

“That was because I thought we could sit in the room, wasn’t it? Come on, let’s go out in the yard, where do we put it?”

Nora looked around and found a small marble table in the courtyard. She walked over, set the orchid on the ground and began to sprinkle the potion she had prepared.

As she carefully sprinkled the potion around the flower, she suddenly heard an angry shout. “Stop!”

Nora was taken aback. Both she and Tanya looked at the door to see Mrs. Landis with her hands on her hips. Like an old hen guarding her chick, she hurried over and stood in front of them. “What are they trying to do with the flower pot?”

Nora, “?”

Tanya, “?”

They both looked at Mrs. Landis. They hadn’t closed the doors when they entered a moment ago, so the woman had just walked right in. But who was she?

They were just wondering when Mrs. Landis said, “That pot of flowers belongs to me!”

Tanya realized. “Oh, I see. I found the flower pot in the garden and thought the person who threw it away didn’t want it anymore, so I brought it in!”

Seeing how lifeless the flower pot was, Mrs. Landis was immediately startled. “Why wouldn’t we want it, do you know what this is or don’t you? Besides, how can you bring this pot of orchids in so carelessly when it’s so expensive?”

Tanya replied sheepishly, “How expensive can it be? I thought it was a bonsai tree.”

Mrs. Landis, “…”

She took a step forward. She was about to take the pot when Nora suddenly stopped her. She said, “You claim that this pot of flowers belongs to you, but do you have any proof?”

This particular pot was worth a lot of money, so she was protecting herself from strangers who might try to swindle them. Besides, judging by Mrs. Landis’ appearance, she didn’t look like someone who was going to approach her for help in treating the plant.

After all, the elderly don’t go online much. Besides, only a minority of people would visit such a forum.

Mrs. Landis was taken aback. “Do I have to try it?”

“Of course.”

Nora said unhurriedly, “Otherwise, how would I know whether or not you really are the owner of this flower pot?”

Mrs. Landis, “…”

That was true. I could understand why she had that concern.

But how was she going to prove it?

Nora said, “The buds on this pot are not the same color as the buds on other flowers. All you have to do is tell me what color they are.”

Mrs. Landis, “!!!”

That put her on the spot. She hastened to say, “Wait a minute. I’ll go ask the lady.”

“All right.”

Mrs. Landis headed for the exit, but after taking a couple of steps, she came back and added, “But don’t spray anything else. These flowers are very delicate. understand?”

Nora nodded again.

After Mrs. Landis left and was out of sight, she picked up the spray bottle again and continued spraying the potion she had just prepared on the flowers.

“…Didn’t you say this pot of flowers is very expensive?” asked Tanya.

Nora nodded. “Uh-huh. That’s why I have to help them keep it. Otherwise, they’ll throw it away again.”

Tanya, “…”

Soon after, they heard hurried footsteps at the doors. Mrs. Landis’ voice is heard the next moment. “This is the house ma’am! Watch your step.”

A beautiful, dazzling figure slowly entered along with those words.

Her presence startled Nora and Tanya, both great beauties. They felt as if they were suddenly dazzled.

The woman entering had an oval face, fair skin and large eyes. She wore a long-sleeved dress that enveloped her graceful curves, absolutely no sign of age showing on her face. She wore her hair in large loose curls that fell gracefully behind her shoulders. She looked like an elf who had stepped out of a European painting and accidentally entered the human world.

Tanya couldn’t resist nudging Nora and commenting, “She’s so beautiful!”

Nora nodded.

They both wanted to continue, but Mrs. Landis had seen the spray bottle in Nora’s hand. Then she looked at the pot of flowers and discovered that all the flowers had been sprayed with some kind of dark mixture. She was immediately startled and said, “Didn’t I already tell you not to spray anything else? Why did you keep spraying the mixture? You… What you’re doing is going to kill our flowers! Or is it because you don’t want to give them back to us? Do you have any idea who the leader of our family is?”

Tanya hastily waved and said, “No, we’ll definitely return it. I didn’t know it was so expensive when I picked it up.”

Iris frowned, but said, “Leave that Mrs. Landis.”

Mrs. Landis, however, was not convinced. “Ma’am, they are clearly the ones who have mistreated your flowers…”

Iris shook her head. “They stopped belonging to us the moment we got rid of them and someone else picked them up. We should already consider ourselves lucky that they are willing to return it.”

Mrs. Landis was terribly indignant.

Tanya breathed a sigh of relief. “We didn’t mean to, ma’am. We were treating the flower disease.”

Iris let out a sigh. “The treatment method is too extreme.”

The smell of the vinegar was simply too strong-how could the orchids resist it?

Tanya was not versed in medical theory, so she said nothing. Nora, on the other hand, said, “I think the worms will go away with another couple of sprays.”

Mrs. Landis reprimanded her. “You’re overconfident aren’t you! The lady has been trying to treat that flower pot for half a month now, but the flowers have never looked so lifeless. Look at her: the petals are already falling off! She looks completely languid. They shouldn’t have messed with her if they’re not professionals.”

“Mrs. Landis!”

Iris reprimanded her again. “Never mind, let’s put the flowers back.”

Mrs. Landis stepped forward indignantly and picked up the pot of flowers. As she did so, she scolded her, “How much effort have you put into this pot of flowers? You couldn’t even bear to look at it when we threw it away, nor did I dare to throw it away for real. Who knew it would end up destroyed in your hands? Seriously.”

Iris shook her head and told him to say no more.

The two then left with the flowers. When they reached the gates, Mrs. Landis could still be heard saying, “If the flowers die tomorrow, I’m coming to get them!”

“Never mind. As they say, what’s yours will be yours, and what isn’t, never will be.”

The middle-aged woman’s voice sounded very pleasant, and the way she spoke sounded like she was reciting a poem. Only her demeanor was cold and indifferent, which made her seem like someone who was not part of the mundane world.

It was only when the two of them left that Tanya swallowed saliva and said, “No wonder people say that beauty is not just skin deep. That lady’s physique is too beautiful. However, I wonder how old she is. Since you address her as ‘madam’, she must be at least thirty, right? But she doesn’t really look it either…”

Nora couldn’t tell the woman’s age either, especially since she was a perfect combination of innocence and femininity, which made people overlook her age.

Tanya said, “I’m going to ask to see what family she’s from…”

After carrying the pot of flowers home, Mrs. Landis took a piece of damp tissue, then carefully and gently wiped the remnants of medicinal potion from the leaves and petals.

It was a pity that, although the potion was too pungent, the flowers were so delicate that she could not wash them. That was why, even though she had already cleaned the potion, they still smelled of vinegar.

Mrs. Landis sighed.

Iris put down the handkerchief, got up and went upstairs. “Forget it,” she said.

That night she could not sleep well because the flower pot haunted her in her sleep. Consequently, it seemed to her that she had just fallen asleep when she heard Mrs. Landis’s startled cry.

“Madam! Quick! Get up and look at the flowers!”

Iris sat up abruptly.

What had happened to the flowers?

Could they have… withered? And died?
