The glamorous woman sighed. âThe sight of the flower makes me want to do everything I can to save it. How can I deny Miss York entrance and let the flower die when she comes again? Then it would be better to throw the flower pot away. Out of sight, out of mind.â
Mrs. Landisâs heart ached as she looked at it. Even her eyes had reddened.
The glamorous womanâs name was Iris Hunt, and she was the eldest daughter-in-law in direct lineage to the Hunts, the most influential family in New York. By rights, she should have been the most dazzling and enviable person.
But unexpectedly, after the marriage?
For Justinâs sake, she made a point of not having too much contact with him. She had lived here since moving out of the Huntsâ residence, and had poured all her feelings for Justin and Pete into the flowers and plants here.
The pot of âA Flash of Bloodâ was the first pot of orchids she had ever cared for then.
Perhaps Justin himself didnât remember it anymore, but it was one of the first flowers and potted plants he had given her.
Iris had treated it very gently all this time and had even cared for it personally. Therefore, the orchid in the pot was not only Irisâs treasure, but it also contained all her feelings for her son and grandson.
But perhaps the potted orchid had grown old and reached the end of its useful life, this year it began to wilt and even became infested with root maggots.
Iris had tried many ways, but simply could not cure it. To make matters worse, this potted orchid was very difficult to care for. Just when she was feeling worried about it, Tina had visited, claiming she was there to give Iris a routine health check.
Doctors regularly came to the Hunts for physical exams every month.
This month, the attending physician had suddenly changed for Tina. At first no one suspected anything, but when Tina saw the flowers, she suddenly started talking about orchids. This made Iris sit up attentively. After catching her interest, the two began to chat.
Mrs. Landis had never heard Iris talk so much in all these years.
Many of Tinaâs opinions regarding orchid care met with Irisâs approval, causing her to nod frequently. Mrs. Landis had thought that Iris had finally found someone she could talk to.
But who would have thought Justin would come around?
The sight of Justin had immediately made Tina feel shy. When she thought about the sudden change in doctors this month, Mrs. Landis understood it all at once.
Considering how smart Iris was, how was it possible that she didnât understand if even Mrs. Landis had figured it out?
That was how the previous dayâs conversation had come about.
To be honest, it didnât really even matter if Tina was allowed to stay, what could she use Iris for? Besides, she could also keep her company and chat with her.
However, despite saying all those selfish things, Iris had thrown the flower pot away the next moment.
Her motherly love made Mrs. Landis feel like crying.
âTsk, itâs just a worldly possession. Whatâs the big deal?â
Seeing that Mrs. Landisâ eyes were red, Iris pretended to be fine and waved at her. She stood up and said, âThrow it away. Iâll go to the front and take a look at the place.â
It was obvious that she was reluctant to part with the flowers, but she said so nonetheless.
It was precisely this behavior that made Mrs. Landisâ heart break.
Mrs. Landis lowered her head. Suddenly, she hid the pot of orchids behind some tall rocks.
Iris might have made a temporary error in judgment, but she was not to make a wrong decision as well. Instead, she would find an opportunity to tell Justin about it. Considering how influential he was, wasnât curing a potted orchid as easy as pie for him?
Iris didnât want to tell Justin, lest she displease the woman and cause Justin trouble as a result.
But the pot of orchids was not to be thrown away.
Mrs. Landis made up her mind. She wiped the corners of her eyes and went after Iris.
When the two arrived home, Iris immediately said reluctantly, âIâm going upstairs to rest. Donât bother me if thereâs nothing important.â
âYes maâam.â
Mrs. Landis knew that ultimately Iris still couldnât bear to part with the potted orchid, so she had become sad.
Mrs. Landis sighed. Just then the doorbell rang.
Mrs. Landis went to the door and opened it. Tina was standing outside. She said with a big smile, âHello Mrs. Landis. Mrs. Hunt must be waiting for me, right? I thought long and hard after I got home last night and came up with something we can try. To be honest, orchids are like human beings. Weâ¦â
But before she could finish, Mrs. Landis interrupted her. âIâm sorry, Miss York, but Madame is tired today, so sheâs resting at the moment. She will not be receiving any guests today. As for the pot of flowers you mentioned â¦. My goodness, unfortunately it wilted this morning, itâs already dead.â
Tinaâs pupils shrank. âWhat? That⦠Thatâs impossibleâ¦â
Mrs. Landis sighed and said, âYes, the lady is very sad about it. I think youâd better come back another day.â
Tina asked, âHow about I come in and comfort Mrs. Hunt a little?â
âNo, sheâs fine. She needs to rest.â
Mrs. Landis didnât give Tina another chance to speak. She closed the door right after she said that.
Outside, Tina clenched her fists angrily as she stared at the door.
She had already asked: Mrs. Hunt loved orchids, and she was someone who considered her flowers her own life.
So why was she adopting that attitude instead â what a disappointment!
Butâ¦
If Mrs. Hunt refused to meet with her today, then she would come again the next day.
With that in mind, Tina turned and left.
Upstairs.
On the balcony, Iris watched Tina leave with an expression of horror on her countenance. She said, âDid you see that? That woman is not as harmless as she looks.â
Mrs. Landis scoffed, âThat bit of skill is nothing in the face of a sly old bitch like you. Although, to be honest, it doesnât matter much if I let her spend some time with you and chat with her maâam.â
Iris stretched. âForget it. I just spent a good bit of time chatting with her yesterday because some of her opinions are the same as Orchidiance. You could say Iâm half a fan of Orchidiance. Thatâs why I enjoyed the chat.â
âOrchidiance â the master orchid breeder?â
âYes.â Iris sighed. âIf I could talk to her about orchid care.â
Mrs. Landis said, âIf we can ask her for advice, maybe thereâs hope for that pot of orchids!â
Iris was a little surprised to hear that.
She had grown accustomed to taking care of everything herself and had never thought of asking others for help. Even Tinaâs offer of help was something the woman had brought to her door on her own.
She suddenly regretted her actions a little. âWhy didnât you tell me sooner? If we hadnât thrown away that flower pot, I could have asked Orchidiance for advice on the Internet.â
Mrs. Landis laughed. âI knew you were going to regret it! I didnât throw it away! Iâll get it right now.â
âCome on, come on!â

âLook over there, Nora, thereâs a stream there! And even a rockery!â
Tanya tugged on sleepy Noraâs arm excitedly. Nora yawned and said, âOh, the place is passable I guess.â
She yawned again after speaking.
She had rarely woken up so early in her entire life.
Tanya, however, didnât seem to have any idea what sleepiness was. She smiled and said, âRight? I intend to buy a villa here. You and Cherry can also move in the future.â
Nora raised her eyebrows. âHm? Youâre moving out of the Andersonâs?â.
Tanya smiled and replied, âYouâre part of the Andersons, but Iâm not. It doesnât make sense for me to stay at the Andersonâs anymore. Besides, I donât plan to leave anymore. If I stay, Iâll eventually have to find a place to live and settle down.â
Nora was surprised. âYouâre not leaving anymore?â
âYes, Iâm not leaving anymore.â Tanya stepped forward and said, âI will look for my son in the United States! I have a feeling that someday I will find the boy.â
At the mention of looking for her son, Nora put aside her perfunctory act for once and said with confidence, âIâm sure youâll find the boy.â
She and Tanya had met when they were looking for their children abroad.
Therefore, she and Tanya understood each other especially well.
In the midst of her thoughts, Tanya suddenly pointed to a pot of orchids behind the tall rocks across the street. She said, âHey, look at that â whatâs that?â
