Chapter 222

Nora1,453 words~8 min read

Nora called Mrs. Hoffman, but perhaps she was busy at the time, she didn’t answer.

She was about to call back after hanging up the first time when Mrs. Hoffman called. She sounded obviously tired when she said, “I’m sorry Ms. Smith. I was busy a moment ago, so I wasn’t paying attention to the phone.”

Nora raised her eyebrows and asked, “Is Jimmy having a relapse?”

“No, that’s not what this is about.”

Mrs. Hoffman said, “Jimmy is doing quite well. He’ll be released from the hospital and will be able to go to the garden soon. It just so happens that something has happened at home.”

“Is it about the car racing club?” asked Nora.

Mrs. Hoffman hesitated for a moment before saying, “Have you heard about it too? Gee, it’s giving us quite a headache.”

Nora was a bit taken aback. She asked, “Do you need me to help you with anything?”

Mrs. Hoffman, however, declined her offer. “No, that’s all right, Miss Smith. It’s best if you don’t get involved in the matter. After all, you are not in our line of business.”

Nora was an excellent doctor who had nothing to do with the clandestine forces.

Mrs. Hoffman feared seeing her implicated if she became involved.

After all, the Quinn School of Martial Arts had disciples all over the country. It was as easy for them as ABC to deal with a simple doctor.

Nora didn’t make things difficult for him. She nodded and said, “Okay. Let me know if you need anything.”

Mrs. Hoffman uttered an “okay” before sighing and finally saying, “Only one person can help us with this. We are currently looking for her.”

Seeing that Mrs. Hoffman was reluctant to say more, Nora nodded and hung up.

Only then did she turn around and look at the Quinlan Sect men on the floor.

Nora ignored the rest and looked only at Winston. The latter had suffered a severe crotch wound and had passed out from the pain only to wake up again from the pain. He was rolling around on the floor in a ball, which easily showed how hard Justin had kicked him just a moment ago.

Nora walked over and stood in front of him.

A cold sweat was trickling down Winston’s forehead, and he was as pale as a sheet. She said, “Send me to the hospital…. The hospital…”.

Nora squatted down and sneered, “Did you say a moment ago that the Quinlan Sect is being a threat on the outside because they have the backing of the Quinn School of Martial Arts?”

Winston gave her an immediate mischievous look and replied, “Yes, that’s right. The Quinlan Sect and the Quinn School of Martial Arts, it’s obvious that the two are family from the moment you hear their names. Lord Quinlan is the most important male disciple among the unofficial disciples of the Quinn School of Martial Arts, and even ordinary official disciples have to treat him with courtesy when they see him. How dare they beat me…. You’re all finished!”

Nora raised her eyebrows and slowly stood up. “Is that so?”

Winston stared at her. “You’ll just have to wait! The Quinn School of Martial Arts will find them! They won’t be scared even if you have Mr. Hunt protecting you!”

Nora scoffed. “Sure, I’ll wait for that to happen.”

She dusted off her hands and walked over to Justin and Caleb. “Come on.”

The three of them walked out of the ramshackle warehouse. The moment they reached the entrance, they saw a man in a black suit standing there. Seeing the three of them, he immediately stepped forward in a panic. “Mr. Gray!”

Caleb nodded his head. The frail man let out a cough and pulled out a handkerchief to cover his mouth. After holding his assistant for support, he looked at Nora and said, “My assistant has come to pick me up, Miss Smith. I’ll go first.”

Nora nodded. At the end, she still said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t expect it to involve you.”

Caleb smiled, “It’s not your fault. However, I would like to ask you a favor Miss Smith.”

“What?”

Caleb coughed another couple of times, which made the handprint increasingly evident on his fair complexion. He said, “My factory license application keeps getting rejected. I would like to ask the Andersons for help in alerting the relevant parties.”

Both the Andersons and the Myers had a certain status in the New York pharmaceutical industry.

Although the Andersons had fallen into decline, they now had the Rest Pills. Add to that their status in the past, and it was still a piece of cake for them to do them the favor.

Nora nodded. “No problem.”

Since she was the one who had caused the problem, she had to solve it. Otherwise, she would end up owing Caleb a favor.

Caleb smiled, “Then we won’t owe each other anything and you won’t have to feel guilty about it anymore.”

Nora was surprised.

She hadn’t expected the man to be so perceptive and see through her thoughts. She nodded her head in agreement. “Okay.”

What she hated most was trouble, and what she hated most was owing people favors.

Caleb coughed again. Nora looked at him and asked suddenly, “Do you need me to take a look at your illness?”

Caleb waved immediately. He smiled and said, “I’ve been sick for many years. It’s tuberculosis. It’s not going to kill me. Even if I get a checkup in the end he’ll just prescribe herbal remedies, so it’s okay. If not, I’ll end up owing you a favor again Miss Smith.”

Nora, “…”

She didn’t press the issue and nodded instead. “Okay.”

Just after she spoke, Justin said dispassionately, “If there’s nothing else, we’ll go pick up the children now, Mr. Gray.”

Caleb, “…”

Nora, “…”

Why did his words sound as if they were going to pick up the children the two of them had from school? … Although in reality they were indeed children born to the two of them.

Caleb smiled, “No, there’s nothing else.”

“Come on.”

Nora followed Justin to the car. The two of them headed straight to Quinn Martial Arts School to pick up Pete and Cherry to take them home.

Caleb waited for the black jeep to drive away before coughing twice again. However, by the time he put down his handkerchief, the look on his face had already turned cold. The sweetness and gentleness in his eyes had all but disappeared, leaving behind only an icy coldness.

The attendant behind him asked, “What should we do with that group of people, Mr. Gray?”

Caleb’s gaze became even more icy at the question.

How was it possible that he knew nothing of Winston’s work? He had merely gone along with the flow and hadn’t bothered to pay attention to him, that was all. Little did he imagine that he would be so bold as to kidnap him.

His assistant, Shadow, had been with him at the time. Given his movements, even fighting alone against a hundred men wouldn’t be a problem. However, he wanted to see what that man wanted, so he had given Sombra a look and had purposely made him lose so that he would follow them here.

But, unexpectedly, that reckless fellow had had the audacity to strike him.

He touched the wound on his cheek and lowered his gaze indifferently. “Get rid of them.”

“Yes sir,” Shadow replied.

Caleb opened the car door and stepped inside. Soon after, a burst of flame shot skyward in the distance.

Shadow returned to the car in silence. As he started the car to leave, he reported, “I cut the tendons in his arm and leg before I let him go through the pain of being burned alive.”

This was payback for Winston’s slapping of Caleb.

Caleb let out an indifferent sound of recognition. Then he closed his eyes and leaned back against the back seat.

Shadow shut up immediately.

At the Quinlan’s.

Paul stood up angrily. “What did you say, that Justin Hunt killed Winston?”

His subordinate, who had escaped and returned from the fire, nodded. “The place caught fire after he rushed in to save the man, So he must be the one who killed them! What do we do Mr. Quinlan?”

One had to be very mindful that that was Justin Hunt!

Paul whirled around in circles. Suddenly, he turned to the outside and said, “We’re going to the Quinn School of Martial Arts! They won’t stand idly by when someone bullies their unofficial disciple.”
