Chapter 215

Pete, “?”

He looked at the question on the worksheet: it was a very simple Math Olympiad problem.

Fatty couldn’t solve a problem like that? Either he was too stupid or he must be setting him up again.

Pete kept quiet. He decided to firmly counter all possible scenarios.

Seeing that he was silent, Fatty became more convinced of what the other boy had just said.

Pete had become obsessed with games and was neglecting his studies, causing his learning progress to slow down.

A child’s learning process was, from the beginning, one in which he tended to immediately forget what he had just learned. It was just as Fatty himself had behaved in his early childhood, memorizing a poem and forgetting what it was like the next moment.

And to think that the Hunts’ little genius had gone through the same thing, too! It was fantastic!

Fatty smiled, “You really don’t know how to work it out, Pete? We’re still young, so we shouldn’t be addicted to games, OK? If your studies keep falling so far behind, I’ll have to tell great-grandma!”

Pete, “…”

The Hunt kids around them looked around.

Pete had been a loner in the class from the beginning, but since his IQ was very high and all the children looked up to the strong one, the aloof and melancholy image he had unintentionally created had inspired awe in them.

However, had that genius of great heights now fallen to the realm of mortals?

Didn’t things like becoming addicted to games and having his studies held up because of it happen only to people like them? Since when did Peter Hunt lack self-control?

Seeing that everyone’s looks had changed, Fatty was immediately filled with self-satisfaction.

He lifted his chin and said, “As the saying goes, God helps those who help themselves. Even if we Hunt children have a very high IQ, we shouldn’t think about working hard and striving either, don’t you agree, Pete?”.

Pete looked at him again and sat back in his seat.

His seat was in the front row. Besides, it was an individual seat by itself, which emphasized his position and status.

Fatty curved his lip in disdain.

Hadn’t he become much wittier lately? Why was he so quiet today? He must have a bad conscience.

As he was thinking about it, the tutor came in with the exam papers in his hand. He said, “Alright, since everyone is here, let’s start the exam on what you all have learned this month!”.

Seeing this, Fatty immediately realized something. He thought to himself, Oh, that’s right, today is the monthly exam! The test results will be ranked and the ranking will be posted for all to see.

Pete must be so apathetic because he was scared!

Fatty smiled and said, “You have to give a good exam Pete. After all, you’ve always been the best student in our class, haven’t you?”.

Pete furrowed his eyebrows, but remained quiet.

Soon the papers were handed out.

The tutor also looked at Pete with a concerned expression.

Pete was a relatively special case and also received very special treatment in class. Often, after attending classes for half a month, Justin would get a tutor to teach Pete privately.

As a result, he did not spend much time in the Hunts’ classes, which meant that the tutor knew little about him.

All he knew was that the boy was born with a very high IQ and picked things up very quickly. However, there was a time, after he was taken for tutoring, when the tutor reported that his grades had dropped.

But when he came back for exams, he continued to rank at the top.

However, during this last period of time? Pete had been taking naps in class, and then he’d be pumped up with energy only to end up playing after class was over. Before, he could endure a full day of classes, but now, he would only attend three hours of class a day before Mr. Hunt would pick him up and take him off to have fun.

The tutor was very concerned about this and had spoken to Mr. Hunt about it several times privately.

However, Mr. Hunt had told him, “After all, the boy is still young, so let him play if that’s what he wants. Don’t be too strict with him.”

The tutor found his answer totally unexpected and was totally baffled.

Was this the same Mr. Hunt who was so strict with the little lord that he measured and weighed everything the child ate at every meal?

The tutor had not deliberately reduced the level of difficulty of the test this time. After all, Pete’s studies had fallen too far behind lately. In addition, his homework was also poorly done, and many simple questions were left unanswered because he didn’t know how to solve them.

I wanted Pete to get a bad grade on the exam, so that both Mr. Hunt and the boy would realize that something was wrong with him lately.

The exam lasted two hours.

The classroom was silent and all the children answered the questions seriously.

At the end of the exam, the tutor collected the papers.

The classroom also became animated in an instant.

Fatty ran up to Pete and shouted boastfully, “Have you finished all the questions on the test, Pete?”

Pete just looked at him and said nothing, just as he had done before.

Fatty, who didn’t understand his reaction, said with a smirk, “That’s fine. It doesn’t matter if you don’t score well on the exam. A one-time failure doesn’t mean you’ll never get up again. As long as you give up your games and get back on track, everything will be fine.”

Pete, “…”

After being silent for a long time, at last, he couldn’t help but ask, “The questions were very simple. You mean you couldn’t answer them?”

Fatty, “?????”

The current Pete looked too much like his past self, which puzzled Fatty for a moment. But right after, he said spitefully, “Hmph, to think you’re still so stubborn when things have already turned out that way! Well, in that case, let’s wait for the results and see what grades you get.”

Fatty grumpily left the classroom.

As he left, the rest of the kids gathered around Pete and said, “Don’t be sad Pete. It’s not a big deal even if you get a bad grade once.”

“That’s right. It’s just that you were too addicted to games lately.”

“My dad said monthly grades don’t mean anything…”

As the kids were talking, someone knocked on the door, “Pete.”

They all turned in unison to see Sean standing in the doorway. He looked at Pete respectfully and said, “Mr. Hunt has instructed me to take you to martial arts school.”

Pete was going to martial arts school for training twice a week. This was no secret. However, no one knew which martial arts school it was.

Pete got up and followed Sean.

Once they got out, they immediately saw Justin, who was sitting in the back seat of the black Lincoln and staring at the papers with his head down.

Sean opened the car door and little Pete climbed into the car on his own. Justin didn’t even raise his head.

Sean was quiet for a moment as realization dawned on him.

What was wrong with Mr. Hunt, was he in a bad mood? It should be known that a few days ago he had never let the little mister get into the car by himself like that. Instead, he had always carried him to the car himself!

Pete was completely oblivious to Sean’s thoughts. After getting into the car, just as it was about to start, the tutor came out of the classroom with the test sheets in his hand.

Seeing Justin, he immediately stepped forward and stopped the car. He said, “Mr. Hunt, I would like to talk to you about Pete’s test results.”

Justin raised his head as he heard him.

Although he preferred his daughter, he was still very strict with his son in the end. He also wanted to know if Pete’s grades had been delayed during this time period, so he asked, “Are the results out?”

The tutor replied, “I’m going to grade them now. I’d like you to take a look at them, too, so you can understand his learning progress.”

“Okay.”

Justin got out of the car. He had often communicated with tutors in the past when caring for his son by himself, so he was used to it.

After the two of them went to the office, the tutor pulled Pete’s test sheet out of the stack and began reviewing it.
