Many people-most of them direct and collateral descendants of the Hunts-had come to the Huntsâ family dinner. By repeatedly using phrases like âDo you dare to do it or not?â in front of so many people, itâs clear that Raymond was leaving Justin no way out.
If he were to refuse the bet at a time like this, it would be as if he were showing signs of cowardice.
Raymond was sure Justin would accept; after all, it was the only option he had.
Indeed, after a brief silence, Justin slowly replied, âLetâs do it.â
Raymond and Roger exchanged a glance and smiled.
How dare Pete attend the dinner? Mrs. Hunt was also too biased. Pete was but a five-year-old boy who hadnât even grown up, and yet she was giving him the family heirloom! It was too much!
They were hell-bent on Pete making a fool of himself today!
Mrs. Hunt wanted to stop them again, but Justin gave her a comforting look, which made the old lady shut her mouth.
Fatty became even more excited when she overheard their conversation. She selected the Hero she was most adept at playing with and asked Cherry, âWhich Hero do you play with, Pete? You can choose any one.â
Cherry nodded her head, selected the girlâs Hero she always played with and replied, âI choose this one. Do you?â
Fatty replied, âIâm going to play as this guy!â.
âPfft!â Cherry burst out laughing. As soon as she turned on the game, she transformed into her cranky girl character and started disrespecting her opponent. She said, âOkay. Come on, sonny boy, Iâm going to beat you so badly today that your mother wonât even recognize you.â
Fatty was taken aback. âWho do you think youâre calling âsonnyâ?â
âYour hero, of course. Isnât he my heroâs son?â
ââ¦â
Fatty, who had been taken advantage of for no reason, was furious. He controlled his hero in the game and made him go straight to Cherry.
Cherry, who seemed to be in a good mood, had a triumphant look on her face.
He deliberately acted as if it was his first time playing the game, making his hero walk left and right awkwardly as if he didnât know how to use the controls. âOh no, why is he walking away?â said Cherry.
Fatty was overjoyed. He chased Cherryâs hero and started attacking her.
Cherry didnât fight back in the early stages of the round. Instead, she deliberately made her hero swing left and right, making Fatty burst out laughing. âSilly Pete, youâre so stupid! Canât you even walk? Iâm going to teach you how to behave today.â
Cherry feinted at the start and didnât fire a single shot. He kept his HP under control and allowed Fatty to wear him down as low as he could go.
After that, she seemed to understand something and got so scared that she started running towards her defensive tower.
Fatty gave chase.
He only had a little HP left. As long as she could make contact with Cherry, there would be no problem at all.
She would be fine even if she had to defend against her defensive tower.
However, as if Cherry had pressed something bad by accident, he pressed the button for his first ability. Her hero immediately made a turn and moved to the left, Causing Fatty to miss!
Just then, the sound indicating a kill rang on the phone.
Pete Hunt had killed âThe Unbeatable and Most Handsomeâ!
âHe lost so fast?â
A triumphant Raymond said, âYouâre really bad, Pete. Even though itâs your first time playing, you lost too fast. It hasnât even been a minute, you know.â
Roger also smiled and said, âA betâs a bet, Justin. That ringâ¦â
Justin looked at them, a dark light flickering in his eyes. In front of all the Hunts, his lips slowly parted and he asked, âThe kids are fooling around. Are you sure the bet now is valid?â
Raymond laughed outright and said, âYou mustnât go back on your word, Justin. Youâre a man, arenât you? Besides, youâre even the man who oversees the Hunt Corporation. You have to keep your word; you canât go back on it!â.
Justin raised his eyebrows. âAre you sure, Uncle Raymond?â
âYes, I am.â
As soon as Raymond said that, Justin sighed and said, âIn that case, Iâll graciously agree to let you give me 1% of the companyâs stock.â
He turned and looked at Sean, who was standing behind him, and indicated, âPrepare the stock transfer agreement and let Uncle Raymond sign it later.â
âYes sir.â
Raymond was stunned.
Roger, who was also dumbfounded, unconsciously said, âInstead of us transferring the stock to you, Justin, you should give us the ring. After all, Fatty is the one who just wonâ¦â
At that moment, however, he realized something and looked at the children. He was dumbfounded to see Fattyâs reaction.
Fattyâs cell phone screen went off at that moment.
Fatty was still stunned, what had just happened?
When he looked up again, he saw Cherry caressing his small chest. She looked at him and commented, âPhew, that was closeâ¦â.
Fatty realized that he had been unlucky. He had come so close to killing his hero.
He angrily demanded, âAgain!â
â⦠Thatâs not really good, is it?â, Cherry asked.
Fatty panicked. âWhatâs wrong with it?â
Cherry sighed. âWhat I mean is that gambling isnât really good. Iâve already won, so Iâm not going to play anymore.â
Fatty, â!â
He was so angry that he ran to Roger and said, âDad, letâs bet again! Grandpa, use another 1%!â
One percent of the stock equaled billions of dollars!
Raymond, who had panicked after losing the huge sum of money, said anxiously, âNo, no, noâ¦â.
When an indignant Fatty turned around, he immediately saw Cherry grimacing at him. She also looked like she had just given herself a big scare. The little girl pretended and said, âPete was really scared just now daddy! I donât know what happened either. How could Fatty have died just like that? I only had a short life left.â
Justin, ââ¦â
What was one supposed to do when their daughter suddenly started putting on a show with them?
Coddle her and play along, of course.
Justin reached out his big hand, tousled her hair and said with a loving smile, âPete is so amazing. To think you won 1% of the companyâs stock for Dad. Youâre so good at the game even though itâs your first time playing.â
Cherry smiled at him.
Their conversation made Raymondâs face turn completely red.
Like a gamblerâs mentality, the loss of billions of dollars he had just suffered made him anxious and irritable. He looked at Fatty and asked, âAre you sure you can beat him if they do it again?â
Fatty nodded, âYes, I am! I was very close just now.â
âThatâs good! Grandpa will trust you again.â Raymond looked directly at Justin and said, âOne more time!â
Cherry buried her head in Justinâs shoulder and said, âPete doesnât want Dad! Heâs too scared! Peteâs scared!â
Justin, ââ¦â
He ruffled her hair and spoke softly to her as he soothed her. âItâs okay, itâs okay. We wonât play anymoreâ¦â
However, the more she refused to play, the more determined Raymond was to continue, so he said, âWill you stop, Justin? Surely you canât leave after you win, can you? It doesnât work that way.â
Raymond, who was red-eyed, stood up and stared at him. âThe bet between the kids only involves a few billion dollars. Iâm betting billions of dollars while you only have to offer Momâs ring. Itâs not like youâre too scared to bet, is it?â
Seemingly backed into a corner, Justin could only pat Cherryâs shoulder and say, âShall we play another round, Pete?â
âBut Dad, Iâm scared!â
âDonât be scared. Just close your eyes and play.â
Cherry looked at him âsheepishlyâ and said, âGee, I thought you said it wasnât good to play, Dadâ¦then Iâll play.â
