Cherry had been part of Operation Complain to Dad, so naturally she knew it was Miaâs father who had bullied Godmother Tanya. However, she was still young, so she didnât understand the complicated relationship between the two.
With her hands on her hips, she looked at Joel and said, âMr. Handsome, how can you bully a girl by being so handsome?â. Godmother Tanya was crying.â
Cryingâ¦
He thought of her tears that had fallen on the back of his handâ¦.
Joel suddenly stepped forward. âSheâs your godmother? And not your mother? So youâre not related to Justin Hunt at all?â
Cherry straightened her back immediately. âWhy wouldnât she be related to him?â
Joelâs heart sank, but the next moment, he heard Cherry continue:
âMy godmother is a good friend of Momâs. Since Mom and Dad have given birth to me, then my godmother will definitely be related to Dad, Yes! Donât you dare bully my godmother anymore. Otherwise, Iâll make daddy beat you, Yes!â
After saying that, the little guy got off the bed, walked over to Joel and kicked him in the calf.
Even though he had kicked him with full force, to Joel it was still a very light kick. He lowered his head and looked down at the little guy in front of him who was about the same age as Mia. Suddenly he rubbed his head and said, âYouâre right. Iâm a bad person. I shouldnât have bullied your godmotherâ¦.. How do you think I should apologize to her?â.
Cherry, â?â
Huh?
Surprisingly, the young gentleman owned up to his mistakes very quickly.
Cherry thought a moment and replied, âA confessed fault is a half fault, sir. Youâre a very good man.â
Joel tried to sound her out and asked, âDo you know what your godmother likes best?â
Cherry cocked her head to one side and thought for a while. Suddenly, her eyes lit up and she replied, âI know! Thereâs nothing my godmother has lacked for all these years, except one thing!â.
âWhat is it?â

âNora! Smith! What the hell do you think youâre doing?â
Nora was driving when she heard Tanyaâs roar over the phone. She looked ahead lazily and asked nonchalantly, âHow does it feel to run into your old flame, Miss Turner?â
The other womanâs voice became instantly despondent and she replied, âNot so good.â
Nora laughed softly and asked, âHave you managed to resolve the misunderstanding?â.
Tanya did not respond.
Nora raised her eyebrows. âYou canât be serious, can you, youâre going to let the misunderstanding continue when Iâve already created an opportunity for you?â
Tanya let out a wry laugh and said, âItâs not about that. Itâs mostly because⦠Even if we resolve the misunderstanding, so what? The two of us canât go back to what we were.â
âWhy?â
Tanya sighed. âHeâs already in a relationship with Hillary. What does that make me, if I get involved with them? Besides, they already have a childâ¦â
The conversation suddenly became a little depressing.
Nora was silent for a moment. Then she suggested, âHow about⦠we make him a widower?â
Tanya, â?â
She got a big shock and hastened to say, âThatâs not necessary at all! Even if he becomes a widower, I donât like that he had a relationship with Hillary. Itâs clear that he knows that she is the person I hate the mostâ¦â
Nora was quite disappointed. â⦠Okay, then.â
Tanya, ââ¦â
Then, she said, âHow about we have a drink tonight, Nora? Weâll drink till we droolâ¦â
Beep⦠beep⦠beepâ¦
Tanya, â????â
As Tanya listened to the phone disconnect tone, she couldnât help but feel that she and Nora must really be friends.
Nora tossed the cell phone aside nonchalantly after hanging up, and headed for the NYU School of Medicine. The guards had already been alerted beforehand, so they let her in immediately when she reached the gates.
She circled the campus. She then followed the GPS navigator and arrived in front of the office building. After parking the car, she entered the building.
As soon as she entered, she saw Director Shaw, in his late fifties, standing at the entrance. He looked at her respectfully and said, âThere you are!â.
Nora nodded slightly.
The few people standing behind Director Shaw were surprised.
You had to know that Principal Shaw was acclaimed as a master neurosurgeon at the school! Not only was he the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, but he was also a Director at New York Hospital, and held an important position in the medical field.
Why would someone like him be so respectful and courteous to a girl who looked to be only in her early twenties?
As everyone hesitated, Director Shaw held out his hand and led her to the front. He said, âThis way, please.â
Nora followed Director Shaw into his office.
Director Shaw said to his assistants: âQuickly prepare the coffee. Use the premium beans from my collection. Remember to make it stronger, so it will be more refreshing.â
The attendees gasped.
Director Shaw used to treat those premium beans as if they were his baby, but today he pulled them out and served them to a girl who looked much younger than him.
Director Shaw ignored the questioning looks from his assistants, walked into the room and closed the door.
When he looked behind him, he saw that the big boss had already taken a seat on the couch and was leaning against it.
The girl was wearing tight black jeans that made her legs look long and slender. She leaned on the couch lazily with her cat eyes upturned, but there was no warmth in them. She asked, âWhy did you ask me to come so urgently, Mr. Shaw?â
Director Shaw immediately saluted and said, âHow am I worthy of you using honorifics for me? Anti, I asked you to come because there is an operation that requires your expertise.â
Nora raised her eyebrows. âWhat kind of operation is it?â
Director Shaw sighed and replied, âItâs a five-year-old boy with a tumor in his brain. The location of the tumor is very complicated, and it is most likely in contact with neural nerves. If care is not taken, it will affect the future development of the childâs intelligence, so I am thinking of asking you.â
Director Shaw looked at her and said, âI know you only accept two operations a month and this month is already full. But that child is really very pitiful, so I have decided to ask you for help. Anti, Iâ¦â
Director Shaw was about to appeal to her through emotion and reason when Nora raised her eyebrows and asked, âThatâs it?â
Director Shaw, â?â
Nora stood up, yawned and said, âCouldnât you have just called? Instead, you had me come here specially? You can just send me the time and place of the operation.â
Then he made a dismissive gesture and walked away. âIâm leaving.â
Director Shaw, â???â
It was notoriously difficult to make appointments to operate with Anti. There were countless rich and powerful people begging for his help, but they couldnât even find him. The Hunts and the Smiths had gone out of their way to seek her out, and had even promised to pay astronomical consultation fees, but still, she had not agreed!
He had thought she would take a lot of convincing before she would agree.
He hesitated for a moment and said, âAnti, the child has no remarkable originâ¦. But donât worry. If you take over the operation, you can consider that I owe you a favor.â
Nora responded with an âOkayâ and left the room.
The assistants outside didnât dare stop her when they saw her and even gave way to her.
Nora headed for the parking lot. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard someone say in surprise, âNora? What are you doing here?â
She looked behind her, then saw Angela Smith and Lisa Black, whom she hadnât seen in a long time, walking toward her.
Angela looked at her car and then at the office building. Her eyebrows drew together and she asked in surprise, âSurely you canât be here to apply for graduate school, can you?â
