Elliot's POV
I savoured the sweet flavour as the cookies and cream ice cream melted in my mouth.
It was celebration time.
My annoying inlaws had just left and it was finally time to end things with Olivia for good.
I pulled off my ring and placed it on the divorced papers which I signed the minute I received them.
I put another spoonful of my favourite ice cream in my mouth.
Finally, I could get out of this shitshow with Olivia and get to talk to Sereia.
If I was going to be together with her, I would do it the right way.
For the whole morning, my mind has constantly been on her.
I've been trying to get her number, but I keep failing miserably.
No one has her number.
I even called Mr. Reed, the HR manager.
He said they only communicated by email.
The one person I knew for sure had it, Blake, was the last person I would ever want to ask.
It was Saturday after all so she was probably at the shelter volunteering.
After I'm done talking to Olivia, I will go to see her and tell her everything.
I'll give her the love she deserves and finally stop holding back because of others.
The front door slammed shut before Olivia angrily stormed in.
Her skin was red and she was drenched in her own sweat.
"Olivia-"
Before I could say anything else, she picked up random items and began throwing them at me.
"You idiot!" she shouted as she picked up a plate and threw it at me.
I watched her feeling unphased. This isn't the first time she's acted like this.
I forgot to pick up her dress from the designer and she threw every glassware she could find at me.
I'm so glad I'm getting out of this bullshit.
"How could you be so stupid?" she shouted angrily. "It was her! It was her all along!"
I touched my face and saw blood on my fingers. "What are you talking about? Who?"
"That little bitch you've been sleeping with!" she shouted at me. "She was the one torturing me all along!"
"What?" I asked confused. "Sereia? I didn't sleep with her."
"Oh, cut the crap Elliot," she said. "She made it clear that you did! She said you slammed yourself into her until she's crippled."
I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head. "Sereia would never say that."
She laughed. "Oh, she has your wrapped around her finger so good."
I silently watched her as I tried to understand what the hell was going on.
"She's a total pyscho!" she said as she walked up to me and showed me her bruised face. "She punched me and then locked me in the saunna until I passed out."
"You're lying."
She laughed. "Lying? Elliot, why would I lie about that?"
"Why would she do that?" I asked. "Sereia isn't a violent person. She would never hurt a soul."
She watched me in disbelief. "Was the sex really that good that you became brainwashed?"
"I told you that we didn't-"
I cut myself off because I knew that I couldn't change her mind.
"Why would she go that?" I asked. "I don't understand."
"For revenge of course," she said. "She was using you to get back at me."
I held my head as I felt a headache coming on. "What?"
"I use to rough her useless sister up back in the days," she explained. "She apparently wants revenge."
I stayed quiet as my jaw began to tick like crazy.
"You're a fool, Elliot," she rubbed it in my face. "She were just a pawn in her game."
I clenched my fists, fighting the urge to snap back.
Her words cut deep, each one a reminder of how easily I'd been deceived.
The truth was a bitter pill to swallow, but I couldn't deny itâshe'd played me perfectly, using me as a piece in her twisted game.
"And you fell for it," she added, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "Just like she knew you would."
The room felt colder, her gaze piercing through the silence.
My mind raced, replaying every moment, every decision that had led me here. I had been blind, and now, all I could see was the aftermath of my own foolishness.
Sereia played me.
She's a liar.
Every calculated kiss she had given me, every glance, every smile, they were all lies.
My anger slowly built up in my chest.
Olivia looked on the divorce papers and laughed.
"Were you seriously going to leave me for her?" she laughed again. "I guess you got karma for liking her and not me."
My fingers twitched as I watched her laugh at me.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady the anger raging inside me.
The realization of how easily Sereia had manipulated me was hitting me hard.
And Olivia.
I didn't know that she was capable of doing something so bad that she cause Sereia's sister to commit suicide.
"Sign it," I said and she stopped laughing.
"Oh, come on Elliot," she complained. "Are you really still going to leave me for her?"
"No," I shook my head. "I'm going to leave you because I can't stand the fact that I'm married to a bully."
"That was a long time ago Elliot," she said. "I'm not like that anymore. I've changed."
"Please, just sign it," I requested. "I've had enough stress today."
"You've thrown away Blake and now you want to throw away me too?" she asked. "I just don't understand how you can cut off people who are so close to you so easily."
"Olivia," I sighed.
"You're just mad at yourself for making Sereia get into your head," she said. "I'm not going to sign it. You're not thinking straight."
My head was pounding at this point.
"Do you know how hurt I am?" she asked me. "How could you sleep with her out of all people? That explains the hickeys I saw on your neck last week. Those people are poor and filthy."
I turned away from her and began walking to my room.
"Elliot!" I could hear Olivia calling my name behind me, but I ignored her.
I will never betray you or let you down.
Those were Sereia's exact words. She said that to me with confidence.
How could she just lie right to my face?
Was everything just a lie? All her words, comfort, and kisses?
None of that was true?
I opened my bedroom door before slamming it shut behind me.
I lost my morals for her, only for it just to be a part of her sick ruse.
She knows how much I hate lies, yet she lied to me every single day.
It's either she's a great actress or she's heartless.
I told my parents about her. I was ready to divorce Olivia for her.
How could she?
My phone received a notification and I immediately picked it up and flung it into the wall.
The screen instantly shattered.
My breathing continued to grow shallow, each inhale sharp.
She's done for.
I don't want to see or hear from her ever again.
She's dead to me.
...
RIP to my girl Sereia in advance ðï¸
