Sereia's POV
Anger plagued my body as I held Violet's Polaroid picture in my hand, knuckles white from my intense grip.
My hazel-green eyes dashed to the car mirror in front of me.
I couldn't even recognize myself anymore.
I had gained weight in my face, thighs, butt, and breasts.
My hair was dyed black, the colour of a raven, and my innocent baby look had now changed to a mature look.
I forced a smile to ensure I had perfected the 'sunshine' smile I had been practising for years now.
It still wasn't there but this was good enough.
I grabbed my Channel working bag before jumping out of my BMW.
Using all the energy within me, I managed to swallow all the built-up anger I was carrying around as I walked inside the Harrington Finance Group's famous headquarters.
I discreetly pulled down my skirt as I approached the man, who has been clearly waiting for me.
The skirt was so short that I could feel the air practically slamming against my ass but this is how I planned to dress so I'll deal with it.
I put on my fake smile as I approached his short figure.
"Oh my gosh, don't tell me I've kept you waiting," I shot him an innocent smile.
He quickly looked up at me as he adjusted his glasses. "Not-not at all, ma'am."
I fake laughed while stretching out my hand to him. "Nice to finally meet you in person, Mr. Reed."
He shook my hand. "Same here, Ms. Sinclair."
Mr. Reed was in charge of HR and we had been communicating for the past four months.
"We're so excited to finally have that director position filled," he said as we began walking to the elevator. "It's been vacant for almost a year."
"What? Really?" I pretended to be interested.
He nodded. "Yhup, picky boss."
"Well, I'm so honored," I told him. "Not many people my age ever get such an opportunity."
He smiled proudly as we entered the elevator.
He pressed '60', the highest floor.
There were sixty floors of just office space.
I can't imagine the amount of people who work here.
The Harrington's had surpassed the Campbell's for almost four years now and I hear that the CEO is hungry for more.
"I know, but the higher-ups were very impressed with your resume. None of us have ever seen anything like that."
I continued to smile as I watched the floor numbers change.
"Don't get me wrong for asking this question because I am thrilled that you chose us but why did you?" he asked. "Every company fought to get you, most even offered more money than we did."
"I guess there is just something special about this company," I truthfully said.
There was something special here; her.
The bitch's life I'm about to ruin.
"Wow," he watched me in astonishment.
I smiled brightly as the doors finally opened.
"After you," he bowed with his hands out.
I held in my laugh as I walked out to see a busy office in front of me.
This place is huge.
He led me further into the office before grabbing everyone's attention.
They all soon gathered around in the middle of the space.
"Everyone, after months of waiting," he started. "I can proudly confirm that our director position has been filled."
My eyes searched for my target as everyone watched me.
"Everyone, meet Sereia Sinclair," he said proudly and they all clapped.
Found her.
The only bitch who didn't clap.
She had no idea who I was, but I knew everything about her.
She put on a smile as she stepped forward to shake my hand.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Olivia Harrington," she told me in a desperate power attempt. "My husband owns this company."
Ah, right. Her parents married her off to the CEO of this company.
What I couldn't understand was why she was a regular worker and not in charge of this place.
He is probably smart enough to not trust her with so much responsibility.
I shook her hand. "The pleasure is all mine."
"I expect us to be good friends," she said and my grip tightened around her hand for a second.
"I expect nothing less," I smiled evilly.
"We should introduce you to the CEO," Mr. Reed suggested.
"Yes, we should!" she exclaimed as she wrapped her arm around mine and dragged me.
I tried my best not to slap her hand off mine as Mr. Reed knocked on the CEO's door before opening it.
The door slowly revealed the CEO of the highly established company, Elliot Harrington.
The young CEO sat behind a large mahogany desk with his sleek laptop and desktop in front of him.
His black, tailored suit, meticulously pressed, complemented his composed demeanour.
His dark hair was neat, just like his office.
Our eyes finally met when he leaned back into his seat with his legs slightly spread open.
His expression was cold as ice and his dark eyes pierced me.
I could already sense the authority and richness radiating from his body. I wouldn't expect anything less from a Chicago CEO.
His sharp, defined jawline ticked as his composed demeanour quickly changed to anger.
He moved his attention to Mr. Reed.
"What the hell is this? I said no interruptions."
The vibration from his deep voice caught me off guard and I felt a wave of heat pass through my body.
Mr. Reed's eyes suddenly widened and I could see the panic. "Sir, this-this is our new director, Ms. Sinclair. I told you she would be starting today."
"Right," he mumbled and the room fell in silence.
I smiled before finally removing Olivia's hand from around mine.
"It's so nice to finally meet you, sir," I spoke in the most enthusiastic voice I could. "I've done my research on you and the company so I think I'm prepared for the job."
He watched me, unimpressed by my words.
Ass kisser.
He probably thinks right now.
"In case you forgot, she's the one who we were competing to get from our rivals. She only got her degree two years ago and her file is already impressive," Mr. Reed attempted to save me.
"I'm well aware, George," he replied in a rude tone that I didn't like.
Mr. Reed looked down in shame and I bit my cheeks to prevent myself from speaking.
Asshole.
Asshole husband, bitch wife.
They deserve each other.
"How about you not speak to your employees like that?" I suggested with a smile and I could see Mr. Reed's eyes widen in my peripheral vision.
Elliot's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at me and Olivia began to laugh.
"Well, let's not get carried away," she tried to change the subject. "I think it's time we show you your office."
"And how about you not tell me what to do?" he spat back and I dropped the fake smile as I walked closer to his desk.
I immediately stopped in my tracks when he stood up and towered above me.
My heart began to beat faster when he began walking away from his desk.
He then opened the door and held it. "I have things to do so all of you leave, now."
It hasn't even been an hour yet and these people were already pissing me off.
"Is everything okay, honey?" I heard her ask him in the background.
"Everything is fine," he reassured her in a bitter tone and I rolled my eyes.
"Ms. Sinclair?" Mr. Reed called and I returned the smile on my face before turning around.
I walked to the three of them by the door.
"It was such a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Harrington," I said cheerfully.
He looked down at me for a few more seconds because closing the door on us.
"I guess Elliot isn't in a good mood today," Olivia said as she grabbed my hand again. "He usually isn't like this most of the time."
I swear I'll chop her hand off if she keeps doing this.
I looked at Mr. Reed and his face told me that he completely disagreed with Olivia's statement.
Elliot was probably a jackass on a daily.
"I'll show her to her office," she told him before pulling me away.
"I love your outfit," she told me as we continued to walk. "Where'd you get it?"
It was only now that I realized we wore similar outfits. The only difference is that hers had more sparkles.
"Custom made," I told her.
"Me too!" she smiled brightly. "We really are going to be good friends."
We really are not.
"Uh, huh," I smiled as she opened my office door.
